Although Maldini has made mistakes, at the end of the day he is someone who cares about Milan and its players and is worried about the fate of Milan, at the moment there is no one in management who is worried about Milan's repeated losses in big games and being humiliated and breaking records in being bad
@flaminsuirtle2 ай бұрын
Ibra just doesn’t command the same respect that Maldini does. I feel like Maldini would discipline in the locker room when players weren’t performing. Now the players are rebelling in the middle of the match and the coach is putting players on blast publicly. Just a different atmosphere without Maldini. It’s very common in organizational behavior to understand that a happy employee will produce more than an unhappy employee, especially in modern society. Pioli protected the players and brought a good locker room atmosphere. maldini brought a sense of progressing their career without the compensation to follow it. Things were obviously a lot happier for the players just two years ago. Management just needs to learn that running a club is more than the very tangible things.

donnarumma and hakan werent on the scudetto team - they were gone before - the players we had and then lost afterwards were kessie first and then tonali - all remains from the mid is bennacer but since his injury in the first leg of semi finals ucl against inter he hasnt been the same unfortunately
@Alex-jf7qxАй бұрын
Yeah I did a bit of a slip, going here and there with the discourse and mixed up some stuff. Gotta bit more careful, that happens when not following a script sometimes. Main point was that not renewing their contract wasn't a problem of a 1 person specifically but of the dictat from the management. I was team Bennacer but yeah seems like his injuries will be a problem for a long time and he'll never go back and be THAT Bennacer! I deeply miss Tonali though especially after seeing him with Italy!

Maldini gave weight to Milan project, with him gone we have a rather weak management, be it for players or other teams and fans. He did fairly well as a director.

You are doing a good job as a KZbinr.. keep it up And well said about Maldini. He loves this club (ac Milan). If we want to bring ac Milan back to glory, we should have a management that respect, believe and love the club. I think the current management is far off

The worst thing that Cardinale did was thinking he could fire Maldini and replace him with Ibrahimovic. Madness.
@ziontrain78872 ай бұрын
The scudetto winning season is credit to Gazidis who was the sporting director under Elliott. When Redbird took over Maldini was given more responsibility and he didn’t do a good job. You can’t justify Maldini signing Origi on a 4.5m salary while he was still injured and not even a starter at Liverpool. Kolo Muani and Julian Alvarez were available for free and cheap but he signed Origi? We could have also signed Enzo Fernandez and Maldini choose CDK when we needed a replacement for Kessie. Also let’s not forget that Maldini pushed for Giampaolo to be signed as coach and when that didn’t work out he went for Pioli instead of Spalletti who is a better coach and he was a free agent. Then when it was time to think of changing Pioli , Maldini wanted to replace Pioli with Pirlo? WTF is Maldini smoking? As for Ibra he is just as bad as Maldini. Inexperienced and he should not have been appointed. Ibra should have pushed Milan to sign Sarri, Allegri or Conte instead of going along with Lopetegui and Fonseca. Milan needed a strong coach in the dressing room to take the team to the next level and they made the cowardly decision to appoint Fonseca. I DON’T want Maldini back at Milan. I respect him as a player but as a director he didn’t do a good job. Milan needs to move away from hiring past players as coaches and managers. It has not worked out well for Milan. Milan need competent experienced managers who knows how to build a successful winning team. Marotta was the best signing Inter made and that’s why they are the best club in Serie A.
@Alex-jf7qx2 ай бұрын
Yes Maldini did not do a perfect job obviously nobody negates that of course, some of his decisions were not without flaws. I absolutely agree that a manager like Marotta makes the difference and current Milan should go for that kind of Sporting Director. That said, I still believe Maldini played a crucial role in rebuilding Milan when we were struggling. And is not only Maldini of course, everybody got merits in the end. When it comes to Origi, yes, signing him was a terrible decision, a mistake we still can’t get rid of. As for CDK, he was viewed as one of the top young talents in Europe. Milan needed creativity after losing Çalhanoğlu, and CDK seemed like a smart choice to fill that gap. It didn’t turn out as we expected unfortunately. But he also got ibra, Leao, Theo, Kjaer, Maignan. Regarding coaching decisions, Giampaolo was a clear mistake, Spalletti had problems with inter at the time if I remember correctly so we could not sign him. In the end hiring Pioli brought us a Scudetto, and one of the best ones!
@ziontrain78872 ай бұрын
@@Alex-jf7qx Dybala was available on a free transfer and Maldini doubled down on getting CDK who was NOT a top talent in Europe as he was playing in the Belgian league which is not one of the top 4 leagues in Europe. Moving from the Belgian league to Serie A is a massive step up in terms of quality and competitiveness. So investing 35m from that league was a horrible decision. As for Spalletti, Inter made it clear they would not interfere as it would have saved them money by getting Spalletti off their wage books. So there was no reason to go for Pioli over Spalletti. And what about the Pirlo rumors to replace Pioli? That’s even worse than Fonseca’s appointment. And for the scudetto we won with Pioli, it was more or less good fortune thanks to Inter chocking at Bologna and Ibra’s influence in the dressing room because if it was up to Pioli alone we wouldn’t have won that title and no it is not one of our best titles. Both Maldini and Ibra are not a good fit and honestly I would get rid of both them and do every thing to get Atalanta management including their Sporting Director Tony D'Amico at Milan. Roma are already making a move for D'Amico.
@DeepDiverRock2 ай бұрын
@@ziontrain7887dybala’s wages are 7 mil plus 4 mil bonuses rn. That’s much higher than any player on our squad currently. Sure he’s an awesome player and has helped roma and scored a lot of goals when he’s on the pitch for them but acting like dybala was a major miss is revisionist history imo. He had his best two seasons since 2018 at roma.

Failed transfers happens to every team. At least Maldini's failed transfers didn't cost the team much financially.

I’ve been thinking about this for the last couple weeks and I thought I would at least ask the question cus i’m interested in the answer. The thorn in our side for the last 2-3 years is strictly we give up too many goals. This is obvious. What should have pioli/fonseca done tactically to fix this problem? Would pioli still be our manager if calabria, i dunno, is just not freaking so terrible that our center backs slowly lose their minds because they know it’s just a ticking time bomb until they get blamed for a goal because they can’t react fast enough whenever we inevitably start losing a bunch of 1v1’s on the wing? Want to know the perfect recipe for a group of center backs to lose all confidence? Put a right back that couldn’t stop a 12 year old on the pitch. I just don’t understand what the manager is supposed to do when the defense is losing every 1v1. How can different tactics help? How could maldini fix this? Like at the end of the day, players play the game and the players have not been good enough. If i played on the team I personally would not be blaming my manager for us losing 1v1’s and being out of position to get back with respect to our individual speed and ability to get back. You can have a million conversations about tactics and management and ambition but we have to acknowledge that these conversations are still just a product of calabria and now emerson not being able to win a single 1v1 on the right side. We needed an upgrade at right back and it didn’t come. Our double pivot is questionable as well but again, our opponents aren’t attacking us down the middle. The games suck to watch because every team just bypasses the midfield and hits ball after ball down their left flank knowing we will collapse. At least pulisic on the right wing got back and helped a bit. Chuku is unplayable even though he has insane skills because he just roams the field like a child with no discipline. The only answer i have is to go back to a formation with 3 center backs and just play compact and get rid of the defensive rotations but of course pioli would be better suited for running a system with 3 in the back than fonseca. He basically has no plan b. Hopefully fonseca sprinkles some magic dust on emerson or calabria and makes them magically good. That seems like our only hope for a successful 24-25 campaign. 🤷♂️
@Alex-jf7qx2 ай бұрын
I agree with you that in the end the players are the one on the field but I don't like to minimize it too much. If a player is weak there is nothing to do, if he fucks up is not on the coach (see emerson). The job of the manager is to place the players on the field and give them indications on how to move, when to press, push them etc. He knows the weakpoints better than everybody, and if EVERY opponent attacks our weak flank he should try and figure out a way to make it more consistent. (yeah easily said that done) In my opinion both Pioli and Fonseca want to do a high pressing that requires a lot of energy, and the cooperation of everybody on the field. In posession we need players with quality as well since Fonseca wants to to build up plays. People call out a 4-3-3 to give that solidity, even if I'd be interested in seeing 3 center backs! Using Theo as a wingback would be interesting. Our team would function better with a counter-attack style imo. I have this feeling that the players FEAR to make mistakes in defense, and by fearing it they are constantly worried and do mistakes more easily. We HAVE good players but somehow this system we are using is not being effective. Maybe Fonseca needs more time to teach it to the players? Probably, but we ll find out soon!
@DeepDiverRock2 ай бұрын
Yeah i think we’d be better as a counter attacking team as well. Glad i asked! Our center backs crumbled last year from being so afraid to make mistakes cus they know something bad will happen eventually so they play the whole game hesitantly then we give up easy goals. Which is what makes pavlovic a breath of fresh air even if he does also miss some marking across the middle. We can live with a bit of that when you’re winning your tackles and playing strong and tough. Anyway, great video as always and forza milan.

i do not agree about de ketelare if a player was good before coming to milan and after departure from problem might lie somwere else, overall Maldini and Massara were good ones with they were doing only exeption is contracts renewal, I personally think americans that have club now have diffrent goals than be the best in world, cardinale espetially do not understand game and rivality at all he is a buisness man and he is doing buisness. Last 2 years of pioli were disastrous tactical bankrupcy, lack of deph, fear of youngsters there is little to actually be positive about. Fonseca probably wont be coach for long run i guess maks 2 years i predict we gonna loose against inter again and match against last in table venezia will be equal match for us. I guess sitting to contract when before u is sitting Fu*king Paolo Maldini must hit diffrent than some Moncada doode (still he is probably one of better scouts out there but i found it wery questionable when i look at last 2 transfer windows to name him even decent in transfers field) lack of italian players is concerning for me personally it will definetly be a problem in future and we will be forced to sign another terracianos like players just to make quota iam trully dissapointed in lack of milan awarness in transfer field: nicola zalewski was not wanted in roma ez back up for theo and leao in one man he is definetly better at attacking than defending but he is still young and have great potenciall Raoul Bellanova would be great back up defender definetly better than this abomination that came in royale pearson Michael Kayode could be an option to test he got minutes last seazon and look ok iam confused that we actually need nr 10 player and even not try to sign Piotr Zieliński same with Rabiot instead we go for Fofana and we stick with always injured bennacer personally i think Tammy Abraham is good addition to team espetially bcs he is only a loan not like jović with is total garbage and i have problems looking at him on pitch i do not undestand why Chukwueze is getting chances and failing all the time and saelemaekers is loaned even if he looked promising or just ok an 3 diffrent positions he pleyed To summrise it all up i cant wait in how many years milan will become from seria a and ucl fighter into a relegation evader :(
