This issue reminded of a couple years ago when they said they were going to make Storm more prominent and I loathed her. Hickman changed that and this X Men Red character arc has been legendary for her, Paired with her story over in Black Panther I because a big fan.

I miss her in “Black Panther”. That was a huge part of her growth and where she is now. It’s largely overlooked though as if her only growth has been Hickman and this book, but in “BP” she was already on god level power, defeating the Adversary, destroying entire Wakanda airship fleets on her own, etc.

can anyone answer my question lol. i havent read x-men in a minute but last i heard, storm turned into a goddess cuz of something called "god head" that she was born with. now my question is.... are they doing anything with the goddess title or is this just one of those things where they say a mutant is something just for the sake of the issue so they can win the battle and then afterwards they pretty much forget about it and dont do anything with it? cuz i havent really heard much talk about her "goddess" title. even in this video dude just kept saying "omega level mutant" and not goddess.... ud think goddess would be used for a goddess since, as far as i know.... gods are more powerful than mutants for the most part lol. plus add the fact that she also is omega, ud think tht would make her an even bigger threat. an omega level mutant goddess. but everytime i try catchin up on this character, its like people already forgot she has the "god head" gift tht was passed down by her ancestors. waiting to see goddess level stuff but im thinkin they're just ignoring tht part just like her magical potential????

Good issue but honestly the fight left a lot to be desired imo. Vulcan can manipulate all forms of energy, but for some reason he’s spamming fire only - fire, the most basic form of energy their is. Storm can control everything from solar winds to bio-electricity to planet razing hurricanes, and we get ice and a little rain? I was perfectly fine with her working with the X-Men/Arakki team to bring Gabriel down, that’s what the X-Men do - but where was cinematic battle Ewing promised us?

I’m not gonna lie…I’m upset with this battle and the fact this completely ruined Storm’s chances of official feats. She has demonstrated so many unique ways of using her powers over the course of X-Men comic history, especially in X-Treme X-Men (where the writer was generous enough to explain the "hows"), but nothing is solid. This is what led the toons and movies to portray her as weak and pathetic. No matter how many feel good about this battle Al Ewing or whatever only done what’s been done since Hickman’s run and that’s letting Storm and her fans down. Marvel Wiki says Storm controls ocean currents, Hickman seemingly had Storm controlling water to make an image of Jean’s face (no explanation of how so it can be said that an "off the page source was the reason"), we seen her block a powerful attack from a hammer that was compared to Ronin’s hammer and yet no explanation of how, she flew from earth to mars with her on power and never explained if it took seconds or hours or days. He can write enough to get a check but he’s not very detailed and I’ve said that after a few issues and I was correct. They keep failing Storm while continuing to boost the weakest character which is Jean cause they would’ve had her solo Vulcan using feat after feat with a detailed explanation of each feat to validate her power. I was a fan of Jean but recently I’ve lost respect for her like I lost it for Scarlet Witch and I’ve been purchasing DC comics lately because Marvel just isn’t Marvel to me anymore. I bet he was shocked when X-Men Red became more popular, by accident, than Jean’s X-Men but the fact still stands that both Storm and Vulcan had a chance to receive a real breakdown of what they are truly capable of and he failed. Frenzy had a chance to shine and so did Sunspot, Khora and Iscca but pay attention to the members of the Great Ring of Krakoa and the members of the Great Ring of Arakko..the majority of the race of mutants on Earth and the majority of the ones on Mars. I see it. They would’ve written Storm out a long time ago if it wasn’t for her fan base..trust me

For about 10 years the company went out of their way to make her Storm only superficially. Her relationship, narrative, and place within the X-men was constantly questioned. You had writers like current Immortal X-men writer Gillen going on record to say, "He had no idea how to write her", "He ironic has never seemed to share those sentiments with anyone else in his casts." Ororo has only been given agency since what maybe 2021. Even in Marauders her role and contributions were non-existent. No writer had anything to say or do with her outside of being the token minority. X-men Gold was perhaps her lowest point in decades...

True this was about battle wits, skills and experience. Things is also, Storm is amazingly powerful outside of her mutant status. Black Panther told her that her mutant ability are not related to her God ability. Then their is the magic ability that she possess. She has three separate abilities and I'm shock that even Ewing has not touched on her in God mode and her magic ability. I'm waiting for one day that him or another writer are not afraid and if Marvel actual approve to showcase all three of these in a series for her. It's high time because Storm has great power and the difference between her and people like Vulcan, she is sane and has a compassion to help and protect.

True, and it sucks that they had Storm and T'Calla's prelateship end. But as for her Goddess ability of The Power of Faith, it wouldn't work on Arakko cause their a waring race and believe in individual strength. So the faith in anyone outside one self, that and almost the population of Arakko was wipped out. She has magical potential due to her ancestry, but has no actual magic herself. But it would be nice to see some one play more into these 2 parts, and really flush them out one day.

Not saying her powers aren't also mystical in nature too 🤷‍♂ The Faith bit is part of her power set as a Goddess, never said she wouldn't be without Faith, just power are stronger from people's belief in and prayers to her. The more people that believe in her, the more powerful she becomes. She is descendent from magical users and apparently she is also gifted of godhead passed from her ancestors too. She not developed her magical potential, there is no magic listed in her power or skill set in any of he comics or handbooks. But due to her potential she can likely learn magic much easier and possibly faster then others.

This comic technically isn’t cancelled. It continues in “Storm & The Brotherhood of Mutants” for a few issues as part of the Sins of Sinister crossover. According to Ewing there’ll be an issue 11, but we’ll see.

Blerd, I’m sorry, Bruh. But Storm has been seriously disrespected and you know how and why. Storm is on mars but in space and at that point her powers or on a different level. She created a Jovian (planet Jupiter) pressure dome on earth while on earth. How can Vulcan diminish the moister in the air and make her so powerless especially when she is that close to the sun where she can summon solar storms, winds and heat on mars and even Vulcan being doused by water is even more senseless. He watered them down and made them more pathetic in this last issue defeating the fact that he done build so much suspense for a disappointing moment. Both characters deserved a one-on-one battle to victory no matter who would’ve one or proving that Storm has truly evolved cause she can transcend into Godhood or summon her hammer at anytime. He robbed moisture from that immediate area..not the entire planet so how, all of a sudden, she’s near powerless cause when she created the atmosphere on mars I’m quite sure it covered the entire planet and not one spot. Vulcan already defeated an entire team before he made it to her so what can Wrong-slide and lobos do against a maniac like Vulcan even if they are with Storm and are omega level themselves which their powers are more not as offensive as Storm. Vulcan also has super strength and speed and Storm has blocked a powerful attack from a powerful hammer as well as Mach speed herself. Fire and arctic wind attacks was and insult and a show of absolute laziness! This should have been a 4 or 5 part battle between the two only on a universal level as if it was a battle to the death. This don’t say anything about either character and their capabilities and says a lot about A.E. himself and I’m gonna leave it at that cause as they say if u can’t say nothing nice…at the same time…if u can’t do nothing right…😉

She’s a God at this point however no one wants to acknowledge this. I believe she is immortal. I believe she has the potential to control and channel any form of natural energy her environment consists of. Storm has surpassed most mutants.

So Why do the writers act like storm dosnt control all energy forms? She can control thermal aswell and make it hot etc. He'll she can draw power from Vulcan if she chose. And are they not on another planet? Why hasn't she used any other energy sources.. they write her Lazy idc. They either don't understand her powerset or just cba to think about all the many many many ways she can beat a competitor..

They wrote both characters lazily. Storm can control all forms of weather, though when it comes to energy manipulation I don't see her manipulating the core of a sun, Chaos magic or the Nova force like Vulcan can given he uses all forms of energy to include psionics and magic if the writers were half as smart as they should.

@@ogkush1916she can’t control all forms of energy. That’s Vulcan hands down. That’s his omega level ability. You gotta understand that when they fought he was gloating the whole time. He could have easily finished the job right then and there….but again he was being dumb and not taking her out. Her powers work best when an atmosphere is present. He literally burned it and the only thing saving her was the Water that was stored underground.

This was a good issue. This should Storm as a master tactician. Storm and Vulcan are evenly matched because they're powers have no limit and are based in psionic control of energy and different forms of it. While he has bonus of being able to drain it from others she can drain from the Sun and the Stars. As she said the only difference between them is will and how they use their power. Storm is still holding back she fought this battle with the intent to work in Unison with the others she was fighting defensively to get the perfect moment. Allowing her Arrakii team to be cemented and humbling Vulcan, breaking his spirit to sink in idea being apart of something greater than oneself isn't weakness, it's strength

Some of these comments are really baffling to me. The writer has been consistent with the nonsense. Storm once again gets screwed over. Another writer that refuses to really get into storms abilities. Another issue for storm fans to rebut and try to make sense of. Another "storm has to hold back" excuse for the writer to hide behind. At this point, it is beyond lazy. It's just prejudice. I'm not buying the BS "tactical" narrative trying to push with her either. This is also another nonsense reason to not really show her power set.

Not sure if you get into it here, but I think with this issue it's all but cemented that the original Nathaniel Essex was completely obsessed with legacy, longevity and survival by any means - it's not a coincidence that all the ones we've seen confirmed so far each found ways to stay alive this entire time, and it seemed they're all somewhat competitive as they have each found themselves on different sides now after seemingly forgetting about each other. It doesn't seem that Orbis stelaris is in kahoots with orchis in any way for instance - I think by the time age of sinister ends, they'll all have some form of awareness of each other and constantly work to directly undermine one another

I'm really shock people think water don't kill fire lololol. Has common sense and science gone out the window. They even had to amp up Vulcan to make it appear he was doing something because Storm has three elements at her control to put him down. Water, Cold, and Wind. She still went easy on him because she could have killed him again. She could have easily manipulated the air in him to freeze it or withdraw it or cause pressure pain and she also control electrical brain impulses. Vulcan never had a chance.

I feel like storm and her power set is the strongest, while reality warping and full blown magic are cool, they feel less tied into ‘biology/mutations’ , the way we’ve seen her use her powers leads me to believe she doesn’t even need a body. The ladies essentially god, if she can control the atmosphere and all that that encompasses, she can control and bind atoms and molecules on a microscopic and massive scale concurrently. Instinctively , shits Inate, fuck knows how her power could evolve. In the sense that someone like the scarlet witch can warp reality, storm can warp worlds/ all material within them. Ladies practically the avatar and then some, magneto has a tiny subcategory of her power.

He's probably the second most powerful non-reality warper, after Iceman, but who the fuck cares? Vulcan is boring as hell. Superhero fans should stop caring about power levels and care more about character.

Vulcan didn't lead a bunch of small teams like Storm, but rather a galactic empire. Yes Storm has more experience, but Vulcan has the power and I feel he would have won if Storm didn't have back up. I mean come on it took the X-Men (which includes a Phoenix powered like Rachel), Shi'ar and others to beat him so yeah Storm needed backup. They both were being arrogant and talking smack, but like Storm said surviving as she as done since she was born when he said he's brought the Sun to her door. She also said she was using restraint and not making big feats, and was waiting to strike which her backup. Than broke down how she was able to use the rain against him cause of help from Wrongslide, Sobunar and Lodus Logos who shielded the water so Vulcan couldn't drying it up. So I strongly believe that Storm can't take a full powered Vulcan solo where it normal takes many. Yes a argument could be made that Storm could do this or that to beat him, but the same could be said about him. I really due like Storm, and am all for her getting shown some respect. Not trying to offend here but I have seen some carry on like she is the end all be all, or as some have tried to claim the Dark Phoenix equal. I love the character, but even I wouldn't go that far. Like he could have suppress her powers, or drained her etc. 🤷‍♂ I like how Sunspot uses some of the tactics that Gideon taught him about handling others in business. I am wondering how the Fisher King learned all this about Abigail when he grow up in Otherworld on Arakko? I think they are the real Nathanial Essex, cause the original wanted to find a way to live forever and at the moment of his "death" they all became active. 🤷‍♂

I agree. In terms of power, he is most definitely the most powerful of the two. She would have lost. How she ended him with rain made no sense. Like he’s just a some Fire mutant. Another thing that bothers me too is that I believe they don’t know what to do with Storm’s power or truly understand what it is And with Gabriel they always make him lose. His power set is nuts. They always hold him back

@@RegentofArrako That's a good point, his not the Human Torch and making it rain shouldn't suddenly stop his powers. It would of made more sense that he was pushed to deplete his reserves. But even that wouldn't stop him from being able to manipulate energy. I agree about Storm. They do go back and forth with her, and what to do with her or the extent of her powers.

I believe why most ppl aren't that thrilled with Storms W is due to her needing help, granted she did stated she was holding back which I kinda assume Vulcan was as well. But seeing she has more than simple weather manipulation, she has the ability to seal Vulcan without any help. Which a lot of her fans want to see her doing things on her own rather than needing assistance, which I wish she did so in this. Yes this was to highlight the Arakkian working together but I feel like we already saw tgat due to Magneto and Logoslogos

@@ampocalypsew3883 I mean narratively more than anything, when he battled Tarn he showed that his energy manipulation goes way beyond just energy what can be seen, felt or understood. He can block mutant abilities so right off the bat storm should have been depowered. His energy manipulation is beyond just fire energy or whatever they were trying to portray, to be honest all of storms moves rely on energy in some form of way and at Vulcans level he should have been able to control that making her attack null. Do you get what I’m saying?

Well Tarn’s powers are different. He manipulates DNA and literally removed her x gene. Vulcan can’t really remove Storm’s power sonce she can draw on more, or control his like she did when they fought the first time.
