Story time about how Kim changed my life... it was a few years ago, I was working retail and I was listening to one of her videos with an ear bud in trying to be sneaky about it. I worked there for almost 2 years and felt like I could do more but didn't belive I actually could. So in the video I was listening to Kim said she could get a real job if she wanted to at a bank. And I took that as my sign to belive in myself and get that bank job. And I did. More money, felt more confidence in my work, and a better life over all. So thank you Kim. For anyone actually reading this, take this as your sign to level up if that's what you're looking to do.

I'm not familiar with them but I do know of... God what was the name of it, it was like Pretty Little Liars only it was inverted with one added word, or Petty Little Liars... idk but it's this massive troll website similar to Kiwi Farms, just not as blatantly bigoted, and they talk shit on EVERYONE on KZbin. Like first it was just shit-talking the Beauty Community, but then it expanded outwards to people who, if you saw the 1,000+ pages dedicated to spanning five or so years, you'd be confused as to why they'd have a problem with them! Like I've seen them shit-talk Jacksepticeye and his ex Signé when they were together. They shit-talk Akidearest and Joey (TheAnimeGuy), and Safiya Nygaard and Tyler... and you just sit there wondering "Wtf are y'all mad at Saf for?? Why you mad at Jack??" These people did literally nothing wrong, but they act like they're better than the people they sit around all day being mad at, and will attack anyone that points this out or questions them. And it's always petty shit too. Like I would understand if you're criticizing Jacksepticeye in his weird growth in the last several years where he's turned into a Pewdiepie clone and is constantly kissing his ass, pretending that Felix hasn't done the racist, antisemitic shit that colors his past, and that his weird "Subscribe 2 Pewdiepie" call to action wasn't co-opted by a terrorist and uttered seconds before he blew up that mosque in New Zealand never happened, because that's not okay, and if you really claim to be an ally of marginalized people and care about them, you wouldn't just let your friend get away with this shit that the wrong people take seriously and use to enact hatred and violence against the groups you portend to care for. Like when that whole Fiver "Death 2 J*ws" fiasco occured, Jack actually called out Felix and wasn't going to let him slide just because they were friends, like Markiplier and MatPat did because godforbid they don't handle Felix with kid gloves and not reassure him that he's really a good person every five minutes because that might hurt his feelings-- but then fucking Keemstar walked in and told Jack "Uh no dude you're wrong. You're just unfairly criticizing Felix when you don't understand the situation!", and Jack CONCEDED TO HIM and dropped the whole thing because fucking trogladyte Keemstar was more reputable than actual Jewish people saying "No this was antisemitic and calling it a joke doesn't make it okay"!! I would understand being mad at Jack, Mark, and MatPat for falling short and acting like a lot of White Liberals for claiming to be allies only to drop the ball because they don't want their shitty friend to feel bad... but nah, the users of Petty Little Liars would rather be shallow and bitchy because they're clearly not happy with their lives and they hate that they're not as popular or relevant as the people they diss. It's just a fucking mess.

Kim, thanks for your breakdown of "The Bachelor" debacle. I also heard somewhere that the school that Rachel attended had banned Antebellum parties on its campus. So, the students took it upon themselves to still hold those parties. If that's true, then she was not ignorant about what she was doing. If her school banned that type of gathering because it was racially insensitive and disrespectful to a portion of its student body - but she decided to attend those types of gatherings anyway - then she basically did not care if it was inappropriate or not. Also, I agree that if this whole thing hadn't come to light, Matt and Rachel would probably be engaged to one another right now. He mentioned feeling pressured to choose a Black woman as his final partner on this show. But no, the only pressure that was placed on him was to not choose the white woman who he wanted, because she was called out for racist acts that occurred less than 3 years ago. I think they'll probably still end up together, since she recently released her "Yes, that was racist. Sorry about that." apology

29:18 Thank you for bringing this up! I remember someone getting upset on Instagram because one of her followers said she was "lucky" to have parents who supported her move to Asia. She got defensive, saying that she had to struggle to get there, but I don't think she realized just how many factors were truly based on luck despite the difficulties in the journey. The fact her parents eventually said yes, the fact she was able to get a visa (especially as a BW), the fact she could successfully grasp the language! People are so uncomfortable with the concept of luck, but if we all embraced it these conversations on privilege would be a lot more easier to digest. I was extremely lucky to be born into my family, and that luck has translated into educational opportunities a lot of people would never have access to. Yes I still have to work hard, but I'm not going to act like the stars were never aligned in my favor 🤔

Thank you for your review about this show. To be honest and this may be a stretch I don’t think some (not all) black men that date/marry white women have the tough conversations with their significant other about race. For some black men they could have grown up in a society to where the identity of blackness was not taught at home. Perhaps they grew up outside of the black community. Perhaps their choice in having a white partner gives them an escape of black identity (in other words a black woman as a partner reminds them of the struggle and pain). I will say that overwhelmingly black women with white significant others seem to have this conversation a lot more than the other way around. Although we are in the black community and we all have struggles there are certain issues that black males can avoid. For black women, we have to deal with micro aggressions. We have people telling us that we aren’t seeing things that exist at work and in our community. There is so much more to do a deep dive into but I just want to leave this here. Matt James-Bachelor and Rachel Lindsay-Bachelorette had two different lived experiences.

Weird how many similarities our stories have. I'm 22 but hopefully im in a similar place you are when I get to be in my 30's.

When my sister was in high school, she got a job at Famous Footwear. She told me that the whole time she was working there, the manager did not like her. After further inquiry, she said that on the first day, the manager had asked everyone why they wanted to work there, and she said, "It seems fun to have a job." Her fellow coworkers were just trying to make ends meet, and her manager had been working there for 8 years, maybe having not expected to work there that long.

I think the financial aid system is messed up in that regard where you have to have a parent’s tax info and income to apply for financial aid. The only way you can do it before 22, I think is the age, is by getting a court order of emancipation from your parent(s). On the other hand it makes sense, because these colleges know the student will always have 0 out of pocket contribution towards tuition. Some could lie and say they’re independent but their wealthy parents fund their lifestyle. So I get why the schools do it.

I dont want to tell you how to tell your story but you are such an inspiration and come far but I think its telling you are saying #IrresponsibleKim vs #GrievingKim- we do not have perpetuate response to death, the death of parental figure as responsible ways or appropriate= So glad we have uber/drive services drunk driving, driving while depressed are both not good idea but glad you got into a better position. But i do not think we should hold shame for feeling bad or not responding appropriately to life coming apart after loss or mental health

Matt is about as interesting as a door mat 😄. Your retelling of The Bachelor events had me rolling! Chris Harrison must have been smoking that chronic that night because he was making no sense. And yes, he was dog-whistling all over the place 😄. He basically said "it's okay to be racist in 2018 because racism didn't exist and we didn't know George Floyd yet. But in 2021, we woke now"! Stupid. Emmanuel was doing what Black men do. I don't rate him. Rachael had her White girl tears RED👏🏾DEE👏🏾!

I don’t rate Emmanuel nor Matt. Nigerian American and Biracial man. They do not represent (Black American culture). I’ve seen Emmanuel’s show and he is more sympathetic towards non-Black Americans in his approach.

I'm sorry but I cracked up when he said it was a different time or whatever and it was only 3 years ago. I could kind of understand the argument if it was like a decade ago and when she was in high school for something

My conspiracy is I think they're still secretly seeing each other. It's just that Matt isn't man enough to take the backlash for publicly being with her so they're pretending to have broken up
