A difference between the comic book version of Natasha Irons and the cw arrowverse version is in the comics she is John 's niece whereas in the arrowverse she is his daughter.

I'm from generation X, and I grew up on military bases in the 1970s. I don't know why, but African-American girls my age had a lot of Russian names, and Natasha was the most popular one. I don't know if this is exclusive to African-Americans who were in the military, or African-Americans in general from a particular time, or just a statistical anomaly, but reading that name in the title brought back a lot of memories. And a few feelings of nostalgia, if I'm going to be honest.

From both her powers and her armor designs it seems like they don't know what to do with her. If she is the current official Steel, then they should go w/ that and make her out to be a hero like she's supposed to be, IMO. But I don't collect comics anymore, so maybe they are, IDK. Also, I'm older. I collected The Authority the first time around over 20 years ago. It is completely weird that they inserted Superman into The Authority. Who's idea was that?? Superman is the granddaddy superhero of all Superheroes and defines what it means to be one. The Authority are a rated-R Justice League/Avengers - level group of *vigilantes*. So, I'm assuming they're gonna water down and nerf the Authority now that Superman is "leading" them. Weird. It's like they don't know what the Authority is, either.

I'm sorry, give me John Henry Irons Steel. Tired of seeing my favourite characters sidelined for a supposedly different version. What DC is doing is obvious and lazy. I've been waiting years for them to do Steel justice, now they are pushing Natasha as Steel more and more while pushing John to the background. Even though she predates Riri Ironheart (another example of lack of originality), it's clear DC wants their version.

john isnt getting pushed aside he is still steel she just is steel as well , him taking a break and still being prominent in the book doesnt mean he's gone forever, its temporary plus she as well didnt have any chance to develop since the 90s

@nyxb The problem is the more they push her as Steel, rhe less John will be Steel. What I mean is they will never backtrack once they push a "diverse" character. Its essentially like if a character is changed or replaced to be gay or female or a minority. Once that happens it's never undone. We all know they will push her as the bestest Steel ever and sooooo much smarter than her uncle. Think Shuri and T'Challa.

When John Henry Irons did it, it was to pay tribute to Superman and everything he represents, so it makes sense for Natasha to take the mantle and uphold his legacy.

its a shame she was never properly explored at least in the 2000s and they were always kinda doing whatever with her especially giving her powers when she didnt need to, she always felt like a background character when she really shouldn't be and just as predictable marvel beat them to the punch when she was introduced since 1994 , im actually so happy that she's finally getting some spotlight cause they truly wasted her in terms of legacy characters but i think she can be distinctive enough from riri not only because of her personality/issues but also how she operates to save ppl and her relationships with other superfamily members is always fun, she's also bisexual which marvel seems to particularly bait with riri all the time😅

A NEW VARIANT OF HERO (STEEL) WHO LIVES IN EARTH-53 & HIS 4 LEGACIES: I imagine the birth of this (John Henry Irons) he was born (March 2nd, 2008) & I imagine his biological father was a Army Doctor, who had unbelievable photographic memory. To add I imagine John’s biological mother was a scientist, who had created many scientific devices, along with machines. Plus to add and I imagine she was secretly working on her own projects that she had decided to never let any wicked person have. Now I imagine after John’s father had returned from the army, he had decided to become a traveling doctor, and I imagine on one of his healing duties he met his future wife (Valerie Lee Green). To add I imagine that John’s father’s full name was (Wilson Henry Irons) & I imagine that he had a half brother that is four years younger than him. I also imagine that John’s father was age:26 when he met his future wife, and I imagine he married her two years later, after reuniting with each other. Now the tragedy involving this John’s parents; I imagine his father was murdered because he tried saving the life of a F.B.I. agent. I imagine that John was 4years old when his father was killed, I imagine he didn’t see it happen, but he heard a loud noise coming from inside his home, and then his mother came to him to let him know what happened. In addition I imagine after the death of John’s father he, and his mother were put into the witness protection program, and remained in it for a number of years. To add I imagine while in the program John, and his mother went by fake names, those names were (Marie BluBell) & (Ben BluBell). I imagine they remained under their fake names until the day John turned 10years old, and then it was finally time for them to be able to go back to their original home. I also want to add I imagine it took a long time for John’s mother, to be able to get a new job, so that she could get back to making things to help people, but it wasn’t easy. To add I imagine that John’s mother wanted her son to get the best education, but she didn’t have enough money to send to the best school, that is until they won the rare large lottery jackpot, the one that was worth 4 billion dollars. Once they won that lottery jackpot, his mother sent him to a private high school, after he had graduated from middle school, and I imagine he did a fantastic job in high school, and to add much later he did even better in college. Now the tragedy about John’s mother; I imagine after he had graduated from college at age:17, he spent most of his time with his mother, I imagine at some point when he wasn’t with his mother, she had gotten infected with a dangerous virus after a sick person sneezed on her. I imagine this virus is similar to the real virus of Covid-19, but this virus is labeled as Purple-Flu, and the reason why it starts out as a regular flu, but then slowly over time it changes, and the last stage before a person dies is that the color of their skin changes to a shade of purple. And so anyway when John returned back home, he discovers that his mother is very very ill, he later finds out with what, and that she is going to die if a cure isn’t discovered in 72 hours. To add I imagine a cure was discovered, so John’s mother died, I imagine he mourned her for two years, and then by the third year he had decided to use his knowledge to help people. In addition I imagine that once in a while he would visit his grandfather, and his uncle’s family. Now I imagine that during times helping people, he once was given a job to help a group of soldiers, it was because one his machines had gotten damaged, and they needed him to fix it, plus ask him if he could invent something to help them with another problem. It was during this time John had met his fourth love, she is a soldier/technician/& mechanic, who is a bisexual, and she is only interested in genuine good individuals. The name of this female soldier/technician/& mechanic is (Susan Sparks) & the reason why she is only into genuine good individuals. Is because she had made a few mistakes in dating the bad person type in the past, and so she had decided she wouldn’t do that anymore. I imagine before Susan had join this mission she had recently dumped her girlfriend, it’s because her girlfriend had changed, and she had become a bad person, by getting involved with the wrong type of people. In addition I imagine it isn’t until a few years later John, and Susan meet each other again, slowly develop a romantic relationship, and later down the line become partners fighting against crime. Plus to add much later the two get married, have son, then later become grandparents who have 2 grandkids, a boy & girl, and much later great grandparents of a great grandson who would later become a member of the (League of Heroes) in the far future. Now I imagine the name of John’s son is (John Elijah-Henry Irons) I imagine that he chose to become a hero just like him. I imagine the names of John’s grandkids are (Elijah Williams Irons) & (Sara May Irons). I imagine the name of John’s great grandson is (William Henry Irons) & I imagine he was exposed to something during summer vacation that made him become a MetaHuman.
