I used to sleep on Engl cuz of the 5150/6505 and the Rectifier amps. Over the last year I’ve gained a massive appreciation for Engl because of my Line 6 PODGo and I really like it

Sounds like what Engl did with this amp is essentially what Marshall did with their JVM410H back in the day. Speaking of which, have you ever tried one? If not, it might be interesting to check it out and compare to other multi-channel monsters. One tip, though: the OD1 and OD2 channels have different voicings. OD1 is more British while OD2 is more American in terms of the mid focus. It's tempting to think OD2 on an amp is always going to be MOAR GAIN, but OD1 has all the gain you could possibly need on either its orange or red channels. The difference between OD1 and OD2 really just comes down to EQ.

I have the JVM 410 on a 1960's B cab and it is totally awesome! I can only imagine what this amp can do. Hopefully get a chance and try one.

Technically, the closest ENGL has ever come to a JVM, with four separate EQs for four channels, is the Invader (MkI and II).

Egnater Armageddon, Driftwood Purple Nightmare, Peavey JSX, Peavey Invective (kinda one), H&K Triamp, and quite a few other Engls have them as well. These are the only ones that I know of but think the Marshall JVM has one as well and one for each of the 4 channels if I remember correctly

This amp is actually based on the Savage build. There actually was a Savage Special Edition years ago, then they dropped the Savage from the name and called it the Special Edition. Actually, the thing thats kept me from owning an ENGL is the price tag. If I ever have that kinda extra income, the choice between an ENGL or a Diezel will probably have me buying neither.. .. or both lol Who needs a car?

They're both fantastic. Personally I like the Savage's high-gain tones better, but it's a harder amp to fully understand than the Special Edition FE. The Savage is a versatile amp for sure, the Special Edition literally does everything. So I'd pick the Savage between the two, but there are literally dozens of reasons that you could justify going for the Founder's Edition instead.

I know this video is somewhat old, and I do love the tones. But at that price point, it actually looks cheaply made. Lots of plastic in the knobs. Cutting cost for such an expensive amp isn’t cool. I have a client that builds custom boutique amps and his knobs etc are all CNC manufactured etc.
