That’s ok in my opinion. It’s such a mystery to 99.9% of the guitar players and enthusiasts, including me. Thanks John.

Carlos played through Dumbles, Mesa, and whatever else and always sounded like Mr Santana. As I get older, I could care less and less about such things, I just wanna hear some great playing!

I think the PRS Amp sounds fantastic! It offers much better clarity along with improved note definition. Additionally, there are two other channels that provide even greater versatility.
@TeleTonemonkeyАй бұрын
Hmmm, not in the real world does it offer more clarity and definition. But yes, it has more channels.

The PRS is taken from MT's actual Dumble, the Two Rock is more generalized to me. If you watch Mark's interview (or Ad) about the MT100 he says it. I think they both sound good it just depends on what Dumble sound you're looking for. The Dumble Sound that's in YOUR Head!! I personally don't like the mid sound of the MT100 but that's Marks Sound. Gret Job John, please keep up the Good Work and Cheers from Salem, Oh. US!!
@MrAwesomeSaucesomeАй бұрын
Was curious about the mt100 but id struggle to say it was my favorite dumble sound i had heard (on youtube) Thaaaat said in terms of John videos i cant say im that mad about the sound of the TS1
@marinodaniloАй бұрын
will you do a comparison between the Enigmatic and the TS1?
@BrianAnderson-7Ай бұрын
How would I put this - the PRS is brighter, and has more attack in the front of the notes, and the attack is quicker. The Two Rocks has the more mellow attack. Somehow the Dumble sound where the Two Rocks is way closer has the thick mid presence without the harsher highs. This puts the articulation back into the hands of the player. You are such a great representation of how Eric Johnson approaches guitar. You have dedicated your ear to his tone(hands) combined with his sound(gear). A Dumble sound demands a relationship with the player. How's your tone in your hands? That's the question we should ask ourselves.. lol. The Dumble sound will faithfully reproduce that for you. The PRS just doesn't give the same thick mids that almost feel compressed but spongy enough to show you how much you need to practice your tone in your hands. :)

I'm not a dumble conessour, if i had to choose one it would be the MT100, the 2rock has that fuzzy 'violin' smooth sounds that's great for leads but useless for rhythm.
@markslist1542Ай бұрын
The MT100 has the Dumble EQ line, and responsivity curve, just right, but it's got 10% of the tonal complexity of the TS1.
@justarthur1788Ай бұрын
I preferred the ts1 for the style being played in the intro but I could see the prs being better for quite a lot of things, probably actually more versatile overall.

Dont forget about your tone knobs and pup hieght on the guitar. You knock the high end be lowering your pups or if too muddy sounding raise them up.

If you really want to change your tone. Forget the amp, the modeller, pick ups etc. Change your pots and caps in your guitar. After building and modding guitars for the last 6 years I can not think of one mod that can change a tone more than changing out cheap electronics to good quality pots and capacitors.
@89digits59Ай бұрын
The TS1 has more body to the tone, the MT 100 is leaner sound, lacks the body - My pick would be TS1 🙂 - anyone else agree with me?

For the style of playing in the intro I'd definitely pick the ts1.

Would be interesting what the MT-100 would sound like using the same speaker as the Two Rock. EVM voicing I would imagine is quite different than a RedBack? Also, does the MT-100 clean up well on that channel?

The only Dumble sound I’ve ever really been a fan of is the Steel String Singer. I don’t care for the Dumble ODS sound.
@MatrixfanMacUserАй бұрын
Wow, that’s a very unique test, thanks! I’m starting to hate on djent and muted single power chord chugs when an amp is considered metal capable. It’s the aesthetics though that brings it down a lot. The amp is ugly. Imagine it with a pepper-style cloth and Marshall knobs! Instantly more palatable! Other than this it seems to be very versatile and a price/performance warrior.

So her is what I wonder, According to every site that talks about the Dumble, They are all wired to sound great to the person he designed them for. So There can be no Dumble Sound to recreate. So the love given to the Amps themselves as a one off of each is possibly warranted, but to say there is a Dumble sound is not really possible. I like the one that John Mayer plays but I like his two rock( which one I am not sure) much better. You do get my point. I liken it to the Strat sound. The bell you get from the single coils is great, but there are many variations on that bell and which tone, ( high, mids, Low) is the sound WE are expected to fawn over? Great sound is so subjective that to trat a nonsound (due to its variations from one amp to the other) as HOLY ... Nahh! O the other hand, I am very impressed with your scale runs and your ability the mesh modes so seamlessly. You should do a video on that. I play by ear and have only guessed at playing what I just heard. I am told I do pretty well for a guy that does no know what he is doing. I slowed your video down to see what chords you switched to a different scale to. Thanks for that. I do the same with those guys from Andertons channel.

There's only so many parts in a circuit that effect perceived tone in dramatic way. With single-ish channel handwired amps you might even find less components on turrets/eyelets inside than parts on a stompbox PCB.

The TS1 sounds better, and in usual Dumble fashion is maybe a little brighter, but maybe the MT 100 , which sounds a little fuller and muddier, feels better to play?

The PRS amp sounds much more pleasing to my ears. However, I'm much more of a Marshall player than Fender. I know the tradition is that Fenders have the best cleans...but...either my hearing is damaged or my brain, but I prefer cleans from a slightly breaking up Marshall over the pristine clean of a Twin.

Modern sound guy just goes to the promoters rep and and says if anyone complains the guitar was too loud then the guitarist should refund their ticket. Especially if the guitar player has ear plugs in and their knees not their ears are at the same height as the cab. Problem solved. Small area of gig sounds harsh and guitarry and everyone is happy!

They both sound great but the TS1 had that glassier smoother sound, which you notice a lot on the second lick.

The more I hear and try amps/models/captures with the "Dumble" drive sound the more I think it not for me. clean and low gain stuff is awesome, but when pushed it gets a little flubby for my taste.
@Bret_SanorАй бұрын
I personally don't care for the "Dumble" tone or sound. It's not my thing. But I have always found a way to get a version of my sound with just about anything I plug into as long as I have a couple of key pedals. Some amps definitely work better and respond better but you just need to find what works for you instead of chasing a specific tone or what you think will give you the tone. Some of the most unlikely amps and pedals I never would have thought would give me the right tone ended up blowing me away. Be open to all things and let your ears and hands tell you what works.

The MT100 sounds very similar to my Carol Ann OD2. More so than the TS1 which is more fuzzy and overwhelming in the lows. This Dumble rabbit hole is a very lengthy and exhausting (and expensive) journey. Mine stopped when I bought my Carol Ann OD2 and I think we have the same preferences when it comes to the balance between powerchords and single lines. Some (or most I should say) Dumble style amps and pedals have that fuzzy tone when you play chords (especially power chords) but sounds nice on single lines. So the remedy was Carol Ann. But it seems like the MT100 handles that pretty nice. I recently bought the UAFX Enigmatic and it's OK but not a cigarr. I wanted to have a Dumble style at home straight into my computer. But it has that fuzzy thing inherently, but it's manageable and close enough for what I want.

Hmmm you guys should try the new PE Black and the PRS Archon models. There are two; a clean and a lead model in the PE black. The lead tone behaves exactly like how you have explained. Why I know this, is because that is exactly what I was fighting as my bends in my leads just sounded too dull.
@UnknownStone-b7wАй бұрын
The MT100 seems a little more articulate at higher levels of overdrive but at lower drive levels I kind of like the Two Rock 🤔
@jonathanwapner6262Ай бұрын
Grab any other amp capable of that much gain (Marshall, Orange, Mesa, Peavey, etc) and run the re-amp through it with the same IR. Someone with an ear as good as JNC can dial in amps to sound functionally similar. I doubt the results will vary much at all.

Curious if it's voluntary or not to have done the Mick Taylor lick a bunch of times lol 4,3,4,5,3,1. He permanently muted me from the TPS channel like six years ago for saying SRV wasn't all that. Fair, right? I watch every minute they ever upload, and I permanently can't comment because he couldn't take a comment about SRV LOL I will never stop telling everyone everywhere until he unmutes me, which will never happen because I've personally asked on the ig page and just got a heart. Mick's stupid lick is stupid anyway. I bet he doesn't even realize he's been playing it every other line for all these years.

It’s not that I’m not over it; it’s that I continue to tell the truth unless or until Mick addresses it.
