Plays like melted butter,by the looks of it, enjoy.

It’s got an attitude that is reckless and playful for sure. Too much fun, what if I’d never tried it… 😲!

Great guitar. Got version 1 from 1996. After a while put SD loaded pickguard with YJM latest pickups. Amazing pickups. My No 1 guitar.

Yep, I still have to navigate around that darn volume knob but that’s okay, it’s awesomely fun and sounds different than anything else… and the way it plays just makes me giggle sometimes, lol. It’s the only Strat that I haven’t wanted to change pickups in \m/

Hey OG - Haven't clicked on a KZbin video as quickly in ages. Great to have some content back mate! How did u find adapting to scallops? Chords , muting etc just as easy? I'd imagine easy to press too hard and sound out of tune? Finally did you get a good deal on the price? Definitely a bucket list guitar for me
@oldguyjammin97325 ай бұрын
Sup Mac! Adapting was pretty easy being that I’m a fan of the jumbo frets anyway. Open chords aren’t as reliable as they are on other guitars. The bridge is NOT a tonepros style which is my favorite but it’s not really a ‘chuggy’ guitar anyway cause the pickups are not real high output and tight but muting is pretty easy, it’s that darn volume knob that’s so close, but I’m gonna just get over and learn to love it, haha. Yes, you can press too hard, but I got a friend who does that on a non-scalloped board anyway ;-) Got it from the original owner who also happens to own a music store for $1500, it came with the original hard case and is mint. Take care my man!

@oldguyjammin9732 brilliant thanks for replying. Great to see you land another guitar that you're loving playing. That's what it's all about!

Takes about three days and you complete forgot about the scolloped board
@jasonrichardson85315 ай бұрын
I have scolloped for years and love it.just scolloped a Nuno Bettencourt N1 and it's a New guitar with the Vega. All the thrills but just the basics

It’s kind of ruining me for my other guitars, I’m thinking of scalloping one of my EVH guitars. Just loving the new Strat.

Keeping the wrist straight, and rotating the forearm instead, it great for picking.

Check out some of YJMs vids, his picking is unique.

Hey, i got the strat, and got tje DSL1 HR? Got either YJM overdrive and dod. WIch tube setup do you reccomend for DSL1 to bright the tone? I boost Red channel with dod/yjm and get muddy/buzz on 4 low strings.
@jasonrichardson85315 ай бұрын
Yeah you have great tec 😊 Try out Vega trem turn a strat into a Ibanez. Took a few days to settle but wow I wish they had them in the 90s
@oldguyjammin97325 ай бұрын
I’ve been wondering about trem alternatives, but I’m getting used to the stock one and it’s actually pretty reliable. Not sure how far from stock I’d want to go, but I’ll definitely check out the Vega - thanks man!

With scalloped frets, how are you supposed to press the strings against the wood of the fretboard?
@orphanuprising5 ай бұрын
The strings aren't supposed to touch the wood of the fretboard. If you're pressing that hard, you're likely making the note sharp. The scalloped board is to limit friction from your finger on the board.
@ImYourOverlord5 ай бұрын
@@orphanuprising Wow! On bass, I always press that hard on the string, but after a while, it makes my hand stiff and sore, which is my body trying to remind me that a lighter touch is better. I brought that bad habit with me when I got into playing guitar later. Still trying to reprogram myself there.

I have always wanted to try a scalloped fret, Guitar, but I was afraid if I fell in love with it, it would ruin my experience with all of my other guitars. Does it feel weird switching back-and-forth now?
@oldguyjammin97325 ай бұрын
It does a bit, but it’s not horrible. Most of my guitars have jumbo frets anyway, so… its been great, really enjoying it.
@oldguyjammin97325 ай бұрын
I just went and jammed on my EVH - it didn’t take to long for it to feel pretty darn good… just different. I’m using 8s on the YJM and that is a huge difference too, so squiggly and easy to bend ;-)
@thelastscarecrow67015 ай бұрын
Cool. Thanks for sharing. I imagine it’s also great training to play any guitar with a lighter touch.

Try a six pence coin from the UK as a pick, like Brian May 😁

No :-)
@ImYourOverlord5 ай бұрын
@@oldguyjammin9732 Heh, picks are clearly a personal choice. I like thicker material, but it needn't be as rigid as a coin.

Can you state with absolute certainly that every single note in that intro jam was in key? Cuz I heard two that just sounded off to me. I could be wrong, but I'm just sayin'. And I'm just giving you a hard time, I loved the palm-muted licks, well-done. One comment though, the audio on your guitar when you were demonstrating while sitting down was terrible, it would be great if you could mic your amp for us instead of relying on the vocal mic to pick it all up.
@oldguyjammin97325 ай бұрын
You are correct, I left the clunkers in there ;-) I got out of it what I wanted to and have already moved on \m/ I new the audio during the talking part would suck but I use one mic and one camera (both pretty cheap) it’s a guitar through an amp… they sound roughy the same, lol. All the things I said about the new purchase remain true - total joy to play this thing, 8 gauge strings and all \m/ Thanks for coming by!!
