My dad's just traded his 765rs for the 2024 cbr600rr, I think they're both top tier bikes but I don't think there's a definite answer for what is better, it's just preference and purpose. He's a fair weather weekend warrior so I think it makes sense, he loved every bit of the 765rs and the triumph detailing is absolutely second to none, it's a do-it-all luxury ride with daytona dna and I think it absolutely dominates the naked-bike class by miles, everyone who's tried his bike prefers it over their own such as the z900rs, mt09, duke890, v2 streetfighter... I always like what I'm used to so it's insane that they can have a luke-warm ride on the 765rs and instantly want one hahaha

Been riding for many years ( 60 plus ) and four bangers cause my nose to tingle. Two bangers depending on firing order in degrees tire out my hands and arms. Singles get your lower back and butt. Now I acquired a triple a few thousand miles back and was pleasantly surprised by how smooth it is. Some how the harmonics of this engine configuration does not cause any of the above problems for me. I was surprised by the amount of torque and how far down in the rev range it comes in. Seems the best of both worlds in that torque is always available and it will still wrap up like a big four cylinder. Needless to say I am very impressed with this CP3 engine in my Yamaha MT09. PS I would also recommend this bike to anyone with riding experience.

It’s like you deliberately ignored the Speed Triple. Smooth as silk, grunty as you’ll ever need, it also makes amazing noises with just slip-ons. Having that extra torque wins every time over the 675 in terms of just the engine. I know the Speed is heavier and slower turning than the Street, but as you grow up and want less outright speed, the comfort and tractability of the torque is everything. It’s sublime. It’s beautiful, and being more relaxed seems to get you from A to B easily as quickly too. I wish they made a sport tourer with this engine - the 1050 or the 1200. I would sell all my other bikes and buy that.
@tomhoglandАй бұрын
They made the Trophy using the 1215cc triple, same as the Tiger. Didn't sell enough to keep it in production - BMW's RT owns that class now. I own a 2015 Trophy and it's a magnificent combination of 4cyl revs and 2cyl torque, sounds amazing at 8k rpm and will still pull from 2k rpm in high gear on the highway. Shame they don't still make it - I don't want to move to the BMW, but everything else in the sport-touring category is morphing into the adventure-touring layout, except for the FJR and inline 4's just aren't exciting.

I had a '95 Triumph Adventurer (I think I got that year right). That triple had the best exhaust note I ever heard on a motorcycle by far, even better than the old Nortons and BSAs. The bike had plenty of power but was a bit heavy for my taste.
@Blair62Ай бұрын
Perfectly rotationally balanced but their crankshafts rock. Stick two end to end to cancel the rocking and you get the perfect inline six.

Now we're also getting the CFMoto 675SR. Excited to see it

My entire childhood was on the back of a H1 or H2 Triple Kawasaki's then I bought a speed triple later in life. I am still on board with the inline 6:) or a v-5?....You are right the triple provides amazing power for the motorcycle.

I am going to wait for that CF Moto. It looks hot.

Triples and twins are all I ride , lots of character and power where you need it. Inline 4 is pants for the road. You have to make them scream to get power and at that point your beyond road legal speeds. Point and squirt power of triples and twins is perfect for the roads.

love my big Triumph Rocket X. sounds like nothing else, almost V twin like down low and roars and growls and backfires and barks across the rev range

Great vid! Just bought a 2025 Trident Triple Tribute... Not able to get it past 5k on the end of the break in period... hopefully will like it!

I'm a bit surprised you left out the Speed Triple. This year marks 30 continuous years of it...making it older than the R1 and almost as much history as the Honda Fireblade.

Went from a 2014 STriple 675 to a 2011 Daytona 675r. I love Triumph even though both bikes gave me headaches trying to get them to run properly.

My 3-cylinder Tiger 800 is as smooth as butter and a blast to ride. I know why they did it, but don’t think it was prudent to change the firing order on the 900’s.
@nathanwhitley3358Ай бұрын
Yeah I have the same 800 and it’s super smooth. T plane is only useful for off-roading from what I understand but the vibrations ruin it for a lot of riders. I love the 800, it’s a sport bike in a dadbike costume 😂

@Two-wheel-cult in every category too which is incredibly impressive. Super nakeds, adventure bikes, touring bikes, commuter bikes, retro bikes, cruiser bikes, scramblers, mid capacity bikes. They're bossing it right now

In the late '80s I briefly owned a 1980 Suzuki XS850 Special. I really loved the sound and power delivery of that bike. Sadly it met its end on the fender of a left turning Buick (I got away mostly intact, apart from a nasty scar below my left knee).

Triples rock, had a Yamaha two stroke triple boat engine, almost as amaZing as my GTR's triple motor.

In over 30 years of riding, all of my bikes were singles or twins until my current bike: a Triumph Tiger 660 sport, which is a triple. For the first 3,000 miles, I found myself missing the low down grumble of my old Guzzi. I've always preferred a bike to growl rather than howl. The Tiger needs to rev a little higher at any given speed, and of course there are 1.5 times as many combustion strokes as there are in a twin, so the engine sounds busier and has less bark. However, in terms of performance, I can't fault it. Up to 5,000 rpm (64 mph in top) it is so easy to ride. For commuting, and 30 mph limits through villages, this is an easy bike to ride slowly, with no feeling of holding it back. Then get onto the open road, wind it up to 6,000 rpm or more and the engine takes on a new character. I can plod into work in the morning mainly in 6th gear with no stress, then on the way home, do the same roads in 4th and 5th and really enjoy it. I've never ridden a 4, so I can't compare it to that, but it is a far more versatile engine than any of the singles or twins I've had in the past.

“Is the three cylinder really the perfect compromise, or is it the master of none?” YES!!! 😂 Seriously, I just love the engine on my Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro. It’s a giggle factory. But even with the major improvements of the ‘24 model, I’m still fighting the vibes at higher RPMs. Grip foamies and bar end weights have got ‘em licked, but still… I guess there is there is no perfect engine. 🤷🏼♂️

FYI: long strokes do not produce more torque, but the maximum torque is available in a lower rev range.

Laverda 1000 with 180 degree crank offset was really powerful and compact. Later on it became a 240 triple, smoother but less character

I've owned quite a few 3 cylinder bikes: 1973 Kawasaki S2A, 1977 Yamaha XS750, 1988 BMW K75S, 1996 Triumph Thunderbird 900, 1998 Thunderbird Sport 900, 2001 955i Tiger, 2008Tiger 1050, 2020 Tiger 900, 2023 Tiger 900. So that is nine three cylinders and all but the Yamaha and BMW were great.
@chrishart8548Ай бұрын
Those BMW k bikes sure were interesting. Even had a shart drive and a fuel injection system straight off a car.
