It's also worth keeping in mind that they might be saying what he wants to say *because* they're in the house *while* they're in the house. If the revolving-door cabinet of Trump's first term is any indication, it's very possible that some of them change their tune a bit once they're put in a position with more individual power where they're no longer under electoral pressure, thus souring Trump's opinion of them, leading to him firing and replacing them partway through his term, thus straining the slim house majority even more going forward.

Because of gerrymandering, the Republican who left the House will almost certainly be replaced with other R's within a few months, so he'll have a bit more margin to work with. Mike Johnson is gonna have his work cut out for him though, with a loudly professed radical RW agenda and an even slimmer total majority (220-215) than he had last term, when they couldn't get anything done without Dem help and had trouble even picking a Speaker.

I suggest you just copy mine and paste it into a notepad doc. Notepad does not spellcheck, so it will accept odd text. ➤But, you have to save it with a title that uses recognizable text, because you can't open it otherwise. I wouldn't mind seeing the upside-down ꓕ and the Russian Я (Meaning: I, me, mine, myself) take hold. Whenever I power up, it's the first doc I open because I know I'm gonna need it.
