From Noway here! We've multiple accounts of unidentified drones going close to our oil rigs, been happening for a few month now. Both the police and our military is on high alert. Especially since we're the second biggest exporter of gas to Europe after russia, making Norway a strategic target. Also another interesting thing is that the entire Nordstream incident occured the same day we oppened a pipeline to Poland which no longer makes Poland reliant on russian gas. Also funny enough russian media aswell as a russian naval officer is blaming the incident on Norway and the UK, as if we collaborated on it to sabotage Europe. It basically makes no darn sense. This entire conflict seems to only escalate!

Renewable and Nuclear to replace coal in highly regulated way and began recycling the spent fuel rods and reusing what fuel is left like they do in France.

Building new Nuclear plants would be a huge boost to the economy and give the extra electricity needed to power all the electrical vehicles coming on the road now and in the future. It would be especially efficient if we could coordinate a lot of these plants to be made in standardized way so they are built and maintained the same way. But in that case, they better make damn sure that they have an A-1 design.

But, maybe there's powersharing-deal in our furure, if the mediterran power grids catch up (I believe, Greece met it's needs with solar/wind energy alone, for the first time, yesterday), or maybe Ukraine might decide to become more of an energy-supplier, if a post WW2-style rebuilding effort is successfull, this would after all strengthen their position in europe and weaken their enemies.

The Danish and swedish governments (the two countries that have that sea area) both said it will take 2 weeks of investigation (gas need to be gone befor ethey can send down divers). But im sure they will find ourt exactly what happend there, as the explosions took place only at 20-30 meters and not far far out in wild ocean, so it will be possible to make a complete forensic investigation. Besides that the whole sea is completely monitorized, with all shipping logged. So i think unless both Denmark and Sweden are involved we will have a very good idea what happend and by who within 2 weeks. But this being international politics with high stakes, we might never get it public.

It's more like 70m deep. Methane is highly flammable - no airborne drones. Within the methane updraft under water there is not enough buoyancy for underwater drones. No way to get near the pipelines at the moment.

This is the first I've heard of this. Is this one of those things that we might be better off caring less about who did it than what to do about it? Take climate change for example; we can point fingers all day long. Even if we could agree on who is responsible, we're all accountable (meaning we're all going to suffer from it).

This will be investigated further. Norway has also had a lot of drone activity near oil rigs in the past weeks that seem to be controlled by someone with a lot of resources. I think this is Russia's next step: trying to choke out all other ways for Europe to get energy. Which means Norway is next as the largest deliverer of gas now, but they need to do it within international territory in order to not trigger article 5. The nord stream cables were blown open just a few miles/km from the borders of Denmark, Germany and Sweden, showing that whoever did it (Russia I guess) wanted to cause disagreement between those countries without a direct attack within NATO territory.

@@moestietabarnak I'm pretty sure it was already closed, as if either end was opened the gas would come out and air would flow in. Hopefully not enough that oxygen could concentrate and then explode, leading to the pipelines rupturing. Basically the pipeline was filled with gas because you have to keep it pressurized to prevent leaks or damage, but nothing else is flowing in, so once what was in the pipe escapes it is empty (but probably difficult to repair).
