The goby + pistol shrimp relationship is one of my favorite thing to observe in a reef tank, I could watch them for hours. Here is a little background about my pair as well as some general information about these guys.

Great video. Like the relationship the pair have with the shrimp. Very cool.

I too used to wonder what the shrimp ate until I had to remove my fish for white spot treatment leaving the main tank fallow. Without the fish hair algae grew and my pistol shrimp would come out and grab "handfuls" of it and take it back to it's burrow, presumably to eat it. I also saw my pink spot goby taking nori into the burrow and maybe he was feeding it. Mine will also eat pellets as he's become quite bold without fish in the tank. Great video.

Just got my first pistol shrimp. It's a candy cane. Soon I will get a goby for him.

Goby+shrimp symbiosis is far more interesting than the clown+anemone, but both are cool.

Late comment but I really want this pair, I have a feeling I’d be sacrificing having a diamond watchman goby and it’s sand sifting. My question is: does the pistol shrimp yasha goby combo stir the sand well enough?

If i were to get a single goby without a pistol shrimp would he/she be more active? Although this is a really cool relationship I would like to see the fish be out and about swimming more and not just guarding the burrow! Plus if they made their home around back of rock I would likely never see them! I almost picked upa pair with a yellow watchman at petco the other day but this was a teeny watchman and barely had any yellow, more like a faded beige. Are males more colorful or does there yellow color deepen when they get older?

Just got my teeny tiny yellow goby last week and found a teeny tiny pistol shrimp today.... assuming they paired bc it looked like smoke signals coming from out my rock lol. Guessing that means they're busy doing their thing. I'll make a tank update and show you 👍🏻

I put a Randal pistol and a Yasha goby in my tank Friday night and it’s Monday morning and I haven’t seen either since I put them in Friday… I’m getting worried! Is this normal? They did find eachother before disappearing
