I am so concerned about the fact that people are coming back maybe a couple of years later (eg. Seth) and saying it was toxic and he feels manipulated by 'Mr Big' and they respond by "showing receipts" of his consent back then. Sometimes it takes time for people to realise they've been wronged and speak out about it. That's why we have diagnoses like PTSD (not diagnosing or saying he has it, just making a point.) Victim shaming/blaming is SOOOO toxic and, as you say, shows the imbalance of power. I, also, don't think it's good enough for the original "leader" to intimate that "I gave you everything you have, now shut up and put up with the shit." You could say exactly the same thing about a person who gives someone, who is down and out, a job and they end up making a real success of their lives. Yes, they gave them a leg up but they don't forever expect them to bow down and lick their feet. These kids have far too much power and don't have the maturity to cope with it. In “Bye Sister” Tati said James was talking to Gabriel Zamora when she was there about what she perceived as “trying to trick a straight man into thinking he’s gay.” The man in question, Sam the waiter, made a video with screenshots of conversations he’d had with James including James saying “I did not think you were 19 omg” “You’re not straight no matter how many times you tell yourself” and “When you’re drunk the truth always comes out.” These are direct quotes, he actually implies Sam was drunk when they made out. The second James dropped “No More Lies” the narrative became James brought receipts about 100% of everything and Tati made it all up because she’s a homophobe, which never made sense to me. He didn’t address that at all but nobody cared. So from James’ point of view, everyone was satisfied with his incomplete explanation and people were mad enough at what Tati got wrong that they didn’t look any further into what she may have gotten right, that he could pretty much get away with any scandal because people felt bad about what she did to him. And honestly, he did get away with a lot of things for a long time. I’m not saying this to defend Tati, I’m just saying she was correct about that. Whatever anyone says about her and that video, we all should have at least listened to Sam.

No offense taken, you didn’t sound aggravated to me. I agree with everything you just said. My original point was just that I wasn’t surprised to hear the new allegations because I never forgot Sam’s screenshots and I wonder what might have happened (or not happened) if public perception had emphasized that a little more. If Sam used James for clout, that’s terrible, and if James plied a guy with alcohol and tried to confuse him, that’s terrible too, and it sounds like both happened.

I tell all of my parent friends to educate their kids on what to do if their fav creator reaches out to them. I was taken advantage of by my fav when I was 14 and it was just as bad as being groomed in person

Thanks Hannah for speaking about this in such a grounded and insightful way. You consistently cover issues like this in a mature/respectful way, which is important because so many people on Twitter are minimizing these situations. Predatory behavior IS serious! People need to stop acting like this is a trivial "oopsie" when people in power are repeatedly abusing or preying on others. If we keep brushing it off, this behavior will continue.

It is pretty creepy and sketchy that James sees someone follow him and he immediately follows them back and looks them up on other social platforms. Like how many new followers must he get every day? Does he scroll through all of them looking for someone he's interested in or does he follow back all his millions of fans? He has nothing better to do?

I love how articulate and well spoken you are. You explained the situation so well and I totally agree with your stance on the issue.

people like watching others get humiliated and Dobrick brought that to the internet. It's like the lowest form of entertainment to make fun of people for things beyond their control.

I don’t understand why James is acting so shocked. Everyone knows that his fanbase is mostly young teens. I don’t think he can get away with this one as “he lied about his age”

I appreciate you discussing this topic. I think it can be easy to forget that people so young still hold power over their audiences of similar ages but it’s so important for us to not lose track of that. I really think youtube needs to have better hr and protections put into place for both children on KZbin and young fans.

Trisha deserves more credit than she's getting for being one of the first people to speak out about this. Ethan also for using his platform for something he know he will get backlash on.

David acts more like a 10yo than a 15yo and I ask myself often if it’s intentional. Not to be an asshole but I think it’s a manipulation tactic. His friends (the people he terrorizes) always say he’s like a little kid. Nobody would ever suspect a little kid is abusing their power over them. Just me speculating over here

David got the "I need HR," from this video, riggght here! Props Han, you actually got through to him a little, I think! 👏👏👏 David 100% watched this video, babydoll. You basically gave him his material to cry to during his "second" apology. It was when you were quick to back to this one for material 😬😬😬 LOL fr though!! Girl he listened to you

Influencers going out of their way to try to date their fans makes me think that they're not looking for partners, they're looking for somebody who will hero-worship them.

It's worrying but not at all surprising that ppl in positions of authority or influence abuse their powers for their own satisfaction and gratification. Worse that when victims come out usually the first "defense" ppl cling to is oh they're a "clout chaser" or a "gold digger", as if these situations haven't played out ad nauseam throughout history 🙄 I mean you think by now ppl would understand that greed and corruption are commonplace but then again history is cyclical for a reason.
