As a Christian, the Brooke Houts “I found Jesus” thing is so stupid. If she had genuinely found Jesus and converted - part of conversion is repentance of sin. Part of repenting is not just asking God for forgiveness, but also those you’ve wronged. You can’t say “I found Jesus so now I’m excused.” It should be “I’ve found Jesus and I understand the need to apologize for what I did wrong, to the people I’ve wronged.” Paul talks about that. So. Her boyfriend’s “sermon” is religious BS that doesn’t even make sense.

Paul told slaves to "obey [their] masters, even the cruel ones." He never said making amends to an individual you wronged is required for salvation. Neither did Jesus. As far as I am aware, making amends to the wronged party is not a requirement for salvation at all. Neither is being a good person. The worst person in the world would go to heaven if they accept Jesus and repent to God before they die. The sweetest person on the planet will be doomed to *ETERNAL* torture/annihilation if they made amends to the people they wronged but remained unconvinced about the magical narcissist in the sky.

What you said should be the standard, but sadly a lot of Christians with platforms when being faced with criticism for their actions tend to bring up how God has forgiven them as a way to deflect from taking proper accountability. I agree that Tati should have owned way more of her part in it. The bulk of "Bye Sister" boiled down to money, her vitamin empire, and her sense of entitlement for others to be loyal to her in exchange for her loyalty to them. Trisha said, in her experience with Shane that he fed her info about other influencers to rile her up and banked on her anger issues so that she would go off and make herself look bad while he sits back, with his hands clean. So...a lot of the pieces of the puzzle in "Breaking My Silence" is coming out now that Trisha is...well, pissed and honestly rightfully so in the sense of being betrayed by someone she believed was a friend over the course of 12 years and who she was blindly loyal to. Have you watched her for a long time? I have watched her since she started KZbin and that’s just how she is, she has always been emotional and for most of her career unproblematic. Trisha just came out too and confirmed that what she said about Shane, Ryland and Jeffree was true.
@Clinty7274 жыл бұрын
@@rianne_9042 Trisha is one of the most problematic people on KZbin, but she is blindly loyal to the people she cares about. Do I agree with her waiting until now to say something? No, but I’m glad she is finally able to see people for who they are and speak up. I don’t believe in the mindset that people can’t change or that it’s too late to do the right thing. Tati said she thought she could be a good influence on Jeffree and I don’t think she hung out with him as a stepping stone for her career because she already had a large following and at the time he was not liked or popular on the platform at all. Once she saw he hadn’t and wouldn’t change, she stopped associating with him and came out and warned everyone what type of person he is. Do I agree with how she handled everything? No. But in no way to I put Tati in the same category as any of these people.
@Clinty7274 жыл бұрын
@@rianne_9042 I agree to disagree. If people couldn’t change than the world would just always stay the same. There was an episode of Oprah once where she had Nazis and White Supremacist on and they were saying the most vile things. A couple years later they met people or had experiences that changed their beliefs and went back on the show to apologize and beg for forgiveness. Most racism and prejudice comes from fear of those or what we don’t understand which is why the more people are exposed to the more their opinions are shaped. Is there cases of people never changing and being a shitty person their entire life, of course. But most of the time unless they are incapable or love or empathy, they can change. Basically unless they are a sociopath that only cares for themselves or a psychopath who doesn’t care for anyone including themselves.
@Clinty7274 жыл бұрын
@@rianne_9042 I see what you’re saying, I don’t think they’ve changed either....which I believe also has to do with their positions of power on the platform. It’s frustrating to see people ignore what they do or defend them as subscribers. Often times people have a hard time putting themselves in someone else’s shoes and are as I like to say intentionally intellectually stunted. I can’t say whether they have changed or not since I don’t know them personally and their actions don’t tell me they have either. People can talk the talk but they need to walk the walk.

Unpopular opinion: I think that there's a lot of pressure to release apologies before people are truly sorry. Sometimes it takes time to reflect and realize the full, entire extent of where we went wrong. I'd rather some of these people take time and actually be sorry. And, ya know what, if they aren't sorry, they shouldn't apologize. However, that's a HUGE reflection of their character. Almost all of these people apologized and were clearly not sorry. Either take the time reflect and apologize when you're ready, or don't apologize.

I actually did feel that Jenna leaving youtube video explained everything she did wrong and gave evidence, she literally went back and showed the insensitive content she had made before. Of course people are allowed to have complex feelings about it (i do) but she was pretty explicit in calling herself out. She's not a perfect youtuber but all her apologies have been sincere and held accountability toward herself.
@smokey_glow4 жыл бұрын
I think for me personally, it would have been nice to see her go more in depth on WHY it was wrong. She did that with the fish video by showing sources and explaining how she was uninformed. By just showing them and not going into why they were hurtful I feel like she left it open for her fans to interpret it as "She didn't even do anything that bad those videos were just jokes". It was for sure the most sincere but I also think she could have done more if that makes senes lol
@belindapaul98284 жыл бұрын
@@smokey_glow You're a lot more generous than me. Personally, I found Jenna's apology vid pretty cringe tbh. She started off with a humble-brag about stans calling her an 'unproblematic queen'. Which she then addresses with the 'I'm just a person...' rhetoric. Like, we're all just people Jenna ...so?? Plus, I'm simply not interested in watching a white lady getting all choked up about her 'problematic' cr*p. Sorry, but I'm just not. Can you imagine if Black folks made boo-hoo vids every time they experienced discrimination? The internet would break. lol And then she ran away so she didn't have to actually have to deal with the fallout and deleted the vid. I don't think that's being accountable. As for the fish... I wouldn't be putting that up there either. She kept talking about what was best for the fish and 'ethical' behaviors but never once acknowledged that it's not even slightly ethical to breed fish and keep them in tanks, that pet stores are next level unethical - and, the most stunning thing of all was that she gave the fish back to the person that sold them to her after making an entire video about how he obviously had no idea about how to look after the little fellows. Like, wtf?

As someone who’s struggled heavily with severe mental health issues, I actually appreciated both of Logan’s apologies. The first one was short and to the point. No, it didn’t seem like he really had taken the time to understand the full scope of his actions but it was a start. When you don’t have any understanding of such a heavy topic, it’s a lot to learn. I genuinely feel like Logan took his actions seriously from that point forward and grew (as much as someone like him can). I’m not a fan of Logan’s by any stretch of the imagination, but I will give him credit for actually taking the time to learn about such an intense topic and how to treat the issue with more compassion.

@jadeandjesse59084 жыл бұрын
I think people take more issue with that she didn't use the opportunity to spread any information about why exactly those old videos were offensive, even if she never meant to be mean or was trying to make jokes. A lot of people have the most difficult time understanding how "jokes" can offend people and I think that's where Jenn should have picked up a little. I 100% believe her apology, but I think it should have been "I used to think that these jokes were funny, which is why I made them at the time, and that reflects me and others not being educated or forward thinking about this topic, and I'm sorry that I did make those videos and post them. I deleted them knowing they were wrong, but I'm talking now because things like casual bigotry aren't fixed by deleting them but addressing them." I know that seems a little nit-picky, but the way she left it I saw a lot of upset people, crying that "the PC police cancelled Jenna" and "this time cancel culture has gone too far : (" but it was Jenna who chose to address it, she never got cancelled.

She said that she didn't want those vids on her channel anymore bc she didn't want people who are confused on who they are to be even more confused by watching those vids.
