Great answers. I'm an old fart, and I was laughing when you got to my question, then started about the issues with long hair. I'm bald😆, started shaving my head a few years ago. No point pretending it wasn't getting thin... My question was for younger viewers, so they didn't follow my mistake when I started off. I remember reading Eddie Van Halen didn't learn theory, so why should I? Well, in my early 20's, I realized, I'm Not EVH... This led, along with life, to hardly playing for a couple of decades. I recently started playing again, and I'm learning theory, and loving it. Everything you said is true. The amount of "Oh, that's why that fits", and ""ah, that's what they're doing" moments, playing more than than I have since I was in my early 20's. This channel has been a huge help, and a big inspiration. Glad you'll be "annoying" us for a long time to come.🤘

I played the Katana in a store, think a MK2 or 3, on the Brown Sound setting. Came to test a guitar, left wanting that amp 😂 really good sound for EVH

On the topic of EVH tone for under $500 I’m going to suggest the Fender Mustang GTX 50 it has a EVH 5150 ( plus downloadable tones from other users with his tone already dialed in) amp with incredible tone and any effect you could ever imagine for $399.99 it has a Celestion 12 inch speaker 🔊

Hey Marty, just wanted to say that the one reason I watch this channel is you're genuine, no made up BS and no pretence. Loved the kit videos which made me take the plunge with my son to build a kit guitar. The riff lesson from Def Leppard we both played through and he even played it in school, taking a guitar in to class. Sure, there are things in some tabs that are incorrect if you spend a week looking for errors but if it sounds good who the fk cares. Keep on rocking my man and if we make the trip over to the US and visit Nashcille which is on the agenda, this is where I will come to ask for tips on where to go!

For the “brown sound” under $500 I recommend a Yamaha THR amp…I picked mine up used for 300 bucks and I freakin love it…I use it every day…you’re a cool dude Marty and I really enjoy watching your channel 👍
@HodgiezАй бұрын
The effects on the Katana are already on the amp. You don’t even have to download them!

I believe boss gives you access to all their pedals online to add more and modify.

I have a boss katana 100. It always sounds better when I play the identical amp in a guitar store. I don’t quite get it.

It's like a puppy You don't see it every day so when you see it you can see the growth, but the owner doesn't see the growth like you do.

Can’t believe I missed this. Been working my arse off at work. What Friedman model do you think gets closest to the Brown sound? Thanks Bro (P.S.- For anyone having trouble learning theory, I highly suggest the book “No Bull Music Theory for Guitarists by James Shipway. It’s laid it so anyone can understand it)
@Ranch5150SkinWalkerАй бұрын
The BE100 has a fat and saturation switch on the back and man it's dead on. I think the new iconic sounds really accurate too for the modern sound.
