I have Race to the Raft for near exclusively solo play and I find it much more enjoyable that way. Its a thinky puzzle you can sit and work on for 20 minutes or for a few hours.

Totally get the Nausicaa vibe from Tribes of the Wind as I had the same reaction from the box art. Sounds like something well worth trying for us.

I was introduced to Tribes Of The Wind at my board game meet-up and immediately tracked down a copy! It's so crunchy with the card play based on the other player's cards.

I’ve got Canvas and Reflections off Kickstarter but have yet to open them. Seeing how light it is, maybe they’ll come out with family for the holidays. Thanks for the reminder!

So excited to get my hands on Tribes of the Wind, we loved Wild Space (from the same designer) and I love the theme and art. Will be curious to see if it plays well at two, with the action selection system, but we're often okay with a little lower interaction anyway. lol

About Canvas. If you have an hour take off the protective coating on the transparent cards. They pop and look so much better.

yeah. I immediately thought of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, and it's intentional. I think in Rahdo's play through he mentioned it, somewhere I'm pretty sure I heard about that lol. That one's been hovering around on my maybe list for a while as that's one of my favorite films.

I normally play very heavy games...and yes, Canvas is light, but it's mesmerizing in it's uniqueness

Orum sounds interesting! Thanks for the overview. If you like trick takers and can find it, I'd also recommend Scharfe Schoten. And, for a partner game, Rook is a classic, although I was taught it and only play or recommend it with 2 variant rules-- 1) the rook is a 10.5 of trump -- beats a 10, beaten by an 11, still worth 20; 2) last trick is worth 20 points.

LOVE this series, always interesting and very well put together! ❤ Tribes of the Wind is the game I was most interested in, and now I'm even more intrigued. Otoh Race to the Raft has always been a hard pass for me. My family suffered a horrific fire years ago; that theme will always be completely unacceptable. Nothing fun about a fire and its devastation.
