I really like Chris doing these videos. Wish he had his own channel.
@Reefscom6 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately that will be very unlikely because he has a large business to run. Alot of people dont realize it but it's not just point and shoot. Have to plan what to shoot, get the subjects in, materials he will talk about as b roll, then travel to his location (4hrs from me for one video) and not to mention the actual shoot as well as editing time. It's just something that he can't do at the moment. Fortunately he makes time for me to make these type of educational videos and to hang out with me.
@Reefscom6 жыл бұрын
With that said, thank you for checking it out and i will try to make more of these type of educational videos.
@supasolly6 жыл бұрын
Well I appreciate that you make lots of videos with him. He is very knowledgeable and has a great demeanor. I know these are a lot of work to shoot and produce.

I try I try keeping Acroporas some do well some don't I don't know what I do wrong.. Hey sir I would like have tips from you sir how can you keep your Acroporas have beautiful colors and health ...
@MU-xh8fu6 жыл бұрын
So is it better to get smaller less encrusted corals that can be cut/broke off their plugs easily to avoid pests?
@Reefscom6 жыл бұрын
that's where it comes tricky and more of personal preference. While I will take fresh cuts from colonies from tanks that I know and trust to be tank grown corals, I always look for encrusted corals as I believe encrusting of corals shows that it's been there for a bit and that it's healthy. I try to remove much of the plug to remove as much as I can. I think situation is different each case and will have to come down to your judgement.
@gki71325 жыл бұрын
you mentioned about keeping the nutrients high with low lighting and low nutrients with high lighting. What are the high and the low lighting (par) levels for acroporas?
@Reefscom5 жыл бұрын
Hi. Im not chris but i have seen acros around 800 par on high par cases and down to 50 something par on low level par cases.

I've found even the smallest frag plugs carry all sorts of pests. Great footage

Thanks for sharing! A bit off topic, but do you have any experience with vermetid snails? My current tank hitchhikers are these darn vermetid snails and spirorbid worms. I’ve been smashing them but they keep coming back. I have thousands in coral, mainly sps and rainbow chalices and now I’m thinking tank reset before upgrading to a larger system. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
@Reefscom6 жыл бұрын
Luckily I haven't had much issues with them. Before putting anything in the tank, I observe and smash everyone of those and glue them down only when I am certain... I'm sorry bud.

So your saying if you have ACRO and softies unless you have a carbon filter your running a major problem that the softies will release chemical warfare into the water killing your acros? I have a tank mostly full of acros but I noticed my softies are shriveled up and my LPS are kinda ehhh

What salt do you use at ACI?
@Reefscom6 жыл бұрын
John Sousa hey john. Chris makes his own salt and uses salt from Julian Sprung.
@dreamreefbeltran14956 жыл бұрын

What is best lights used for Acropora.. Right now I use Ocean revive t247 it been 6 months..
@Reefscom6 жыл бұрын
those do well and I may be biased but I would really like to give radions a nod for LEDs, mh and t5 is great too but I, along with majority of the hobby prefer LEDs for the upkeep and the convenience.

Thanks you sir... I was thinking to get ECO tech Marine Radion XR30w G4 Pro Led light Fixture.. I have Redsea 170 34galler tank do you think is that good for my fish and coral grove beautiful and healthy corals...
@lunes-16 жыл бұрын
This are my favorite corals but to keep them healthy have to be 1000% good parameters stability and super desinfect frags for very very long time before put on main display

Hello sir I have a Acropora at less 2 months now I lost color now they changing too brown I don't know is die are not but is not blecher out....
@Reefscom6 жыл бұрын
Check your nutrient levels. They brown out usually if your nutrient levels are out of whack.
@jluusaltwateraquarium83206 жыл бұрын
I have 3 Acropora about 1 inches how many years do get big
@Reefscom6 жыл бұрын
depends on the acro type, your tank water parameters and how much PAR it receives as well as flow. in short, it varies ALOT.

Throw the coral away or I guess quarantine it for a looooong time. Would not dump it in a community tank
