i can't believe no one else is talking about this. it's a huge problem.
@perafilozof9 жыл бұрын
+chrisdavidi It's because how the game is played that the problem doesn't make enough impact. Players just go for massive office blocks and just ignore the whole industry chain. Also, there are mods like the infinite resources or paint your own resources now.
@chrisdavidi9 жыл бұрын
true. it's almost as if the game rewards unrealism. it's a shame. i've got all types of industry, all with adequate resources and a lot of goods producing industries and still my shops haven't got enough goods to sell. couple with that the fact that demand is zeroed for everything except commercial and my freight and cargo terminals don't seem to be importing enough...i'm stuck. thanks for the video though! glad i'm not alone.
@perafilozof9 жыл бұрын
+chrisdavidi If you dig just a bit under the surface the game is really shallow and unrealistic. That is why I abandoned this line if videos.

it's sad. i guess there's still hope for expansions and mods that will "finish" the game. it could be amazing.

I'm ready to give up on the game because of this. I have full warehouses of raw materials sitting next to processing plants that refuse to use them.
@perafilozof5 жыл бұрын
It's not that they won't, it's that they don't know how. The simulation is not deep enough for complex production chains, even with them actually being in the game.

@nihilist41847 жыл бұрын
I have now perfected it down to only 19! thats right under 20 for imports its all about highways so you avoid the not enough raw materials icon form some companies. I also found paint the natural resource as a cheat can actually be a detriment so i dont use that now as you dont get as many processors if you zone over 10% thick natural resource. Now you will mainly get extractors but the game has faded resources showing before you even zone it if you zone the thick black you mainly get extractors if you zone on normal resources that's often grayed at the time then more processors will show up.

I can think of one reason for the ore industry being as it is. Let us suppose you have an aviation industry in the town which needs Aluminum for one thing, and Titanium for another. Let's say your mines can supply Aluminum but not Titanium. Your industry will take your Aluminum but it will have to import Titanium. I do agree however, that's it's a problem as you put it, and if what I proposed is in fact the case, the developers ought to make that clear.

+Joe Roberts Your argument definitely makes sense. Cities Skylines only demonstrates Ore, Oil, Farm and Forestry materials but in real industries, there are more than those.
@Jin-Ro4 жыл бұрын
It's call Capitalism. UK, USA, Norway, etc, extract oil from their oil fields, export it, and import oil from overseas. The UK fishes its waters, exports the fish, and imports fish. If Skylines is a Capitalist model, which it is, then businesses operate autonomously, and will sell their product for the best price for them or their shareholders, which could very well be outside the City/State/Country. And businesses in your city will buy raw product for the best price, which again, could be outside the City/State/Country. You're essentially complaining that Skylines isn't built on Socialist/Communist economic principles with a closed loop supply chain.
@perafilozof4 жыл бұрын
Hello Kim, and welcome to my channel. Interested way of looking at things. I would agree with you if the game followed all the rules for such a economy system. But it's a game which follows it's own rules and a made up economy system. The mechanic of the game are a mix bag of real systems where most serious considerations are omitted or removed from the game.

When I turn off the policy "big business benefactor", my low density commercial starts to import massively...? Do you have any knowledge about that?
@perafilozof3 жыл бұрын
Hello AlpheNoord, that doesn't sound right. Big business benefactor only influences High density commercial buildings and makes them double their sales. For your low density commercial zones to be affected at that exact same time you would have to have a) a bug in your game b) a mod which has conflicted with the base gameplay.

Hello Garcia, and welcome to my channel! Thank you for that interesting comment. I think we all would mind far less if this problem would not be so difficult to analyze and solve. In this game there are a lot of factors you can't see but they still influence the problem at hand and you have to find the real cause for it before you can solve it. Some players just have a balancing problem, others have traffic to blame, some zoned badly and yet others just have a bug.

wait so I should group all residential into one place and all other (commercial, industry and offices) in to another zone???
@perafilozof7 жыл бұрын
Not exactly. The have interconnected needs. But pollution will mess up residential happiness and placing to many buildings that send cargo to each other will create large traffic problems. It's best that you space out commercial between residential and industry while creating direct rounds from residential to industry which are not connected to the roads leading to commercial buildings directly, since the AI will always go for the fastest and/or shortest routes.
@nihilist41847 жыл бұрын
That being said you can get round the bug by importing a shit load of exports ie i have 20 k exports so i can get a small number of imports. Ie just block the entrance of the specialized industry to the cargo ships by surrounding them with generic industry so they are forced to fill up your own industry first before it exports them Ie its better to have the industry complaining it needs commercial to sell its over abundance of products rather than the commercials complaining they have run out of good on their shelves because the industry isn't making enough to be sold. Industry can always sell off as export what it cant stack on your own local shelves. but commercial cant have that privilege.
@nihilist41847 жыл бұрын
Correct Perifil. I always thought the game was bugged as shit now you've totally confirmed it. I even cheated just to see how far the game was totally fucked ie i painted in the raw products from a mod so i had a smorgasbord of ore oil farms and wood all surrounding the manufacturing industries to make use of the fucking raw products but no the fucking useless game was still exporting them outside and saying we still needed to import them wtf the game is suppose to be realistic not bugged as shit just to show players that there is a thing called imports and exports we fucking know that but fix your fucking game steam and paradox along with the 16k traffic limit and the direct x 11 glitch which forces you to only use shitty direct 9 from windows xp days.So many fuckups with this game, you're right perafil.
@perafilozof7 жыл бұрын
Game has more then a few limitations on systems that go beyond just city building and management. It was a small team that made it and expanded it. But the core of the game was never very well developed.
@nihilist41847 жыл бұрын
I have since found that the specialized industry has extractors and processors and they are DIFFERENT!!! This isn't explained properly to most players and you have to hunt the thing and theres no info view to show which specialized industries are the extractors vs the processors. Ie you may have raw materials but you are missing the middle man of a processor and thats why your generic manufacturing goods industry cant make stools if you just give them chopped tree trunks from forestry you need the processing that makes them into round pegs etc that then can be made into a stool for manufacturing. Same as ore you cant expect a generic manufacturing industry to make toilets out of raw ore you need processors to make them into pipes etc so the manufacturers can then use pipes for the toilet etc. Personally steam and paradox should be flushed down the toilet for failing to show a proper infoview to show player which ones are which. Also when u run out of ore and oil they often turn into processors or just zone ore and oil in places where there's no raw materials there so you just get the processing buildings! So much info skylines has failed to tell you. They also dont tell you about the 16 k traffic limit either the scumbags.
@nihilist41847 жыл бұрын
Having said that not only do paradox need to show info views of which ones are the extractors vs the processors but you are right why is the damn truck exporting the needed product for our own industry. Ie that truck came from the ore extractor which was just across teh fucking road from the ore processor ie zinc products etc. Couldn't 'zinc products' have fixed their fucking doorbell so they would hear ore extractor man trying to deliver his package gifthorse to the neighbor across the road but no! Instead fucking paradox has to create a paradox in the game which next door neighbors cant simply give the extracted ore products to their neighbors to process the ore into pipes and tools etc and then giving it to generic industry, oh no that would be too fucking simple! Instead bloody paradox and steam have to send the poor ore extractor packing to rookwood or westfield hundreds of miles away with dirty toilet parts in the back of their lorries, whilst clogging up our highways and causing the 16k traffic limit for more despawning problems of industry trucks not even getting to their destinations!When you pull this game apart its a total bag of shit compared to sim City 4 deluxe version that was made in 2004. You uploaded this informative video 2 years ago and yet the paradox and steam retards haven't fixed their stupid game bug causing much steam with many a perplexed player over such a paradoxed game.
