Hey Reiley! Yes I know it is always nerve racking to share your pricing strategy. Thank you so much for sharing! This was very valuable.

Just found your videos and I love them. So inspiring. I’ve been doing hair for 8 years. 6 of those were only haircutting at a chair salon. But now I’m out on my own in a suite and I absolutely love it. Currently going through the price changing scenario and definitely thinking about doing hourly for color services. Might be an odd video to do but could you talk about scheduling and setting boundaries? How has your schedule and stuff changed since just beginning to build a clientele to now? And advice to someone trying to figure out boundaries with scheduling and messaging for appointments? And tips would be super helpful. Thank you.

I just found your channel and I’m obsessed! I’ve been doing hair for about 4 years now and I’m at the point where I’m hoping to chair rent. Your channel has been giving me the inspiration I need, and when binging your videos yesterday I kept thinking about pricing! This video couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. ✨❤️

I also apply this, but I have to make it more clear to my customers because I have a lot of clients that are kids amd they can be fussy which would make the price go up and I deserve to be charged for that. Awesome! Im gonna announce this hour rate on my page so its clear for everybody.

Great information! Do you charge differently per hour for haircuts versus services you need to use product? And what about the blow dry and style? Do you ever have any pushback on hourly pricing because of the extra time it takes to blow dry and style.

So for a service like a haircut (JUST a haircut) I do a flat fee. For my coloring services I do 65/hour + product cost. As far as blow dry/style.. I don’t! Most of my clients think the styling is the best part so they would never skip out on it.

Hi how do you factor in what salon scale tells you into how you determine what your hourly price should be?

I’m thinking of switching to hourly. I’m in Virginia I know you use salon scale to calculate your product cost but what would you say the average amount your cost is for let’s say a full highlight mid length, not too thick, root smudge, toner Or even just say your average product cost is for your blonding services? I’m thinking of purchasing salon scale but if I can figure out product cost on my own first, I might go that route.

Charging by the hour do you charge the same price whether its a color or highlighting service? And then obviously add the extra product charge if needed? Love your videos, they are so helpful!!

Hi Reiley! I am about to be graduating in a few days from butte college and I was wondering what your thoughts were on charging hourly right out of school?! I feel it makes more sense to me also!

First..Congratulations! That’s so exciting! Thanks for watching! I don’t know if i would do it right out of school. I feel like you have to gain a clientele full of people who trust you, & value your time. But that doesn’t mean it can’t be done, just my opinion :)
