My green stabilized oak looks totally different (no burl, one side looks marble and the other like jade). Look up the (old) book cover for H.P. Lovecraft’s Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath and compare the art work (souls stuck in a “tree trunk”) to those scales and you’ll never look at your knife the same way again! 😅 Loving the Kayak and I’m using this as a working and hobby knife, beautiful as it is. The blade shapes are perfect for wood working from whittling a hiking stick to expanding and squaring off a deadbolt hole in a door frame. The blade selection is the whole reason I bought this knife. It could easily be a safe queen for some (and that’s probably why some have commented they’d rather see more traditional blades on it) but man it’s so well built and designed it would be a shame not to actually use it! Imho working with such a quality tool lends a feeling of pride and satisfaction vs doing the task with a beater knife and it makes working on a job or project much more fun! Great review and very unique scales on yours, wish I had that one for as much as I like my own!

That’s a beauty. I like my micarta version, too - and those strong blades (whatever you call them) are great workers. I prefer the older arrowhead shield to the new bomb one, but you can’t please everybody.

The old background with the stickers i got pretty used to, but up to you which one you use JB. The Kayak is by far the most attractive Reserve in my opinion. With that wood it looks even more amazing. Thank you my friend.

This is beautiful jb! Are the reserves more of a satin finish with all the blades? I think I’d enjoy that more. With the mirror finish on the cheaper versions, the scratches tend to annoy me. Maybe some day you’ll do a battle of the polishes so dummy’s like me can learn 🤣

I really like the looks of the wood and I'd say it is burl. Still, I just can't quite get behind the blade and the center hump. No arguing about the build quality. I don't think the problem is the change getting in the gap but that the dap is so large you can fit a quarter in there. That is way more gap than one normally expects in a traditional knife. As for back drops. I like it empty so the knife can shine. (but mostly because It's easier for me to get my phone to stay ficused! LOL

I like a slimmer knife as well and reducing the gap certainly helps that. Yeah...the back drop was pretty empty and still have focus issues. Oh well...trials of making videos. Steven Spielberg I am not....lol

Nasty sharp corners on the tangs which are always covered with ordinary Canoes, nice to see different blade shapes and the covers are gorgeous, wonder why as they made another version of Canoe type they didn't make it a bit bigger, just not for me should have done better.
