80 thousand tons! That's the amount of faeces, or more commonly knows as shit, produced in Bangladesh every single day! And, of these huge amount of human waste, guess the number that's treated each day. Only 1%. Ever wonder what happens to the remaining 99%?
Listen to Ms Hasin Jahan and walk down the road with her while she recounts how she faced this very challenge, and turned the problem itself into a solution.
Currently working as the Bangladesh Country Director of Practical Action, Ms Hasin Jahan likes to promote new ideas, likes to take challenges and think out of the box.
In the recent past Ms. Hasin Jahan has worked as the Director of Programmes and Policy Advocacy of WaterAid Bangladesh. She moderated 26 episodes of the development talk show titled 'Jolkotha' for a TV channel - Desh TV. She has also organized events such as national conventions on rainwater harvesting, a photo exhibition titled - 'Cascading Dreams' featuring stories of grass roots peoples' life, an Expo on water and sanitation technologies and approaches, a short-film festival on ‘Water for Life’ etc.
By training, she is a Civil Engineer from BUET and has completed MS in Water and Environmental Management from WEDC.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx
