@@CasaAreyto What is your nationality or Ethnicity? Reason I'm asking is because the taino that are in Jaimaca they seem to be speak different tongues 👅 🤔 when the Europeans brougth African there they killed of a lot of Tainos that were already there and a lot from other islands that migration over there escaping the Spaniards and Colonizer still some taino's there and they do not look like Jaimacans they look like the tainos from PR negretos with that beautiful Complexion there were not white they were red and mahogany cinnamon colors those we see are from Africa or the so call white native American that they call themselves Indians are pale they're nothing but mongoloids that migrated yo the Americans especially the ones now that are so white 😉 native Americans growing up were of dark skin not pale 😉 🤔

@@polastar5198 Tau (hello/hola) 👋 yes, I've communicated with Yamayé Taínos about the differences in pronunciation. Depending on which island you grow up on, you may pronounce words with an English, Spanish, or French pronunciation. I don't think a discussion of skin complexion of Indigenous descendants is particularly productive. None of us have control over phenotype, the expression of our genes through characteristics such as skin color, hair texture, eye color, etc. Some of our Indigenous cousins in the north still have more of the Asian genes of our original mothers with incredibly pale skin adapted to Arctic environments. Some of our cousins in the south have deep brown skin adapted to tropical environments. We are a beautiful rainbow of colors and tones. Modern genetics shows us that we are siblings who originated from the same 5 or 6 women, and we should celebrate the richness of our diversity.

Thank you for your enlightenment. How do you say beautiful in reference to a woman in Taino. Can't find translation anywhere.

this is a little unrelated to the video, but what was the taino name for cuba?
@CasaAreyto
@CasaAreyto 3 жыл бұрын
Tau, Paula! 👋🏽 Thank you for your question. There are many theories about the original Taíno name of Cuba... 😊 Kubáo - abundant fertile land (ku = fertile land; ba = a lot/great; o = mountain) Koabaná - great place [for farming] (koa = farming tool; baná = greatness) Kubanakán = center of abundant fertile land (ku = fertile land; ba = a lot/great; nakán = center) Some people use "Kubáo" and others use "Kubanakán". The "Primario Básico del Taíno Borikenaíki" uses "Kubanakán".

just a general question how is it possible that the taino had the exact same pronunciation as our spanish speakers i'm sure it wasn't exactly so are we confident on this?
@justinnamuco9096

Jajóm (thank you) for the question. This video is based on the resource I mentioned at the start @36 seconds: Primario Básico del Taíno-Borikenaíki. 99% of the vocabulary you see in this lesson comes from Classic Taíno. The grammar structure and a few of the pronouns were either loan words or reconstructions proposed in this source. To learn more about the resources I use, check out: • "Let's Talk Taíno 3 - Taíno Resources" kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGTXq36Gd92jhZo • "HYPIA Interview - Javier Hernandez" kzbin.info/www/bejne/d2XCeHd7eZmabZo Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions as you go through the video playlist. Awesome question! In this Taíno variant, it's "Dak'ro dak." (literally "I love me.") You may also want to check out other Taíno variants, such as "Keeping the Taíno Language Alive" by Richard Porrata and the Hiwatahia language book by the Higuayagua tribe, in case you find another phrasing that you prefer.
