as a African American Nurse Practitioner....I often wonder with the surge of BBL what these women will look like in 10 to 20 years as they age.........and especially as the enter into later decades in life.....please I know it is a personal choice...but I would encourage anyone considering this procedure to really deeply think of not just the now but the future....please don't fall victim to a today's fad....that will look ridiculous in the future....and I see so many beautiful young women of color who already look terrific before adding all this extra fat to their rear ends....

Yes my cousin didn't tell anyone she got a bbl. While delivering her baby she was on iv fluid (common) and almost died cause she ended up with clot (fat) in her lungs. The Dr was.confused where the clot came from but my.cousin said she knew immediately. The fat definitely moves throughout your body. Side: Can we talk about women getting bbl then starting fitness channels to teach you their "workout" methods.

Yes!! The hips are way too high and no that is not natural. Real thick hips are widest down near the bottom of the crotch whereas bbl “hips” sit super high on the body. It’s a dead giveaway that the person does not have naturally wide hips and is trying to build them from the back. Go look at a naturally thick woman (not someone who lies) and then go look at a bbl body and you’ll see the difference. One looks proportionate and aesthetically pleasing while the other… It looks bad. Very uncanny. Also when I see extreme surgery it always reminds me of all the blood, pus and swelling that comes along with it. 🤢 They are like walking ‘body horror’ billboards.

Sure, we men find women attractive. That’s simple biology. Telling our women (as Black women have always been the curviest women) that their bodies are beautiful when Western white society was telling them that their bodies were horrible is love. Other women, and some sistahs, who’ve jumped under the knife for this procedure did it for the lack of such a body. However, curves are not the only thing on a woman that make a woman beautiful. So, the explosion of BBL is really an insecurity/supposed confidence boosting procedure that screams pick me due to the advent of just how many women are getting them.

Honestly I feel that in the next 10 years guys are going to start drooling over girls with firm toned legs and glutes maybe even sculpted abs and arms, who knows. But I believe that trends follow a polarizing pattern. Think about it, we went from big boobs to big butts, we went from skinny to thick. And for makeup, we went from full coverage to light. It's just a matter of time for the trend to go from fat to muscle.

I recall the hour glass shape always being the ideal shape to have(in the black community) .. it’s just way more exaggerated now. I grew up hearing in the 90s that bw women were shamed for being skinny like a white Girl and that the Coca Cola bottle body was always it in the 80s as well. I mean not to mention those tight ass corsets women used to wear in the 1900s. Big butts go back to slave times for black women I dont think it’s anything new fr it’s just that that surgery has made it accessible for more ppl that get that look that’s why it’s more popular within the black community fr. The only thing that genuinely changed is that white ppl wants this shape too now and thts because of the kardashians and their fetish to attract black men.

Social media is to blame because it seems like almost everyone wants the base body, aka the Kim Kardashian shape, without thinking about the risks of the procedure since so and so on whatever social platform had it done. In 10 years or maybe 5 another body type will be sought after and this current one will be considered a trend.

I have lots of anxiety too, so I would never let people alter my body! I’m 19 and I’m tired of how cosmetic surgery is becoming so normalized as soon as you turn 18. The brain is not even done fully growing at 18. Cosmetic surgery has so many risks because it’s literally altering the body’. I think this whole trend is terrible, especially because it’s not really sustainable. I think for breast implants you have to replace them every 10 years. What about when you’re older? Healing from surgery doesn’t seem like an easy process. What happens when your body can’t take it anymore? I’d rather age and look natural rather than risk health problems that can shorten my life and give me lots of dysmorphia.

*Glute...* 📝 *bridges...* 📝 Got it! 😂 Love your editing, Crystal! I'm glad we are talking about this. Way too many times I see people not talking about these with BBLs: 1) the *RECOVERY* is no joke. With ANY kind of cosmetic surgery, you need to be cared for. Your body is already under stress and not having extra help/care increases it!!! 2) Harrassment at 200%. This is coming from a young black woman who has been harrassed for her natrual curves since 4th grade and nonstop. Oh and *BACK PAIN* , *PAIN IN GENERAL* Too much excess fat can effect the joints and muscles over time.

@@Crystal_Ezeoke Full disclosure, I am not black so I obviously cannot attest to your experience; however, I think most women have been harassed on the street or in public - and boi, is it ever tiring. I am more naturally curvy and I have had men pull up asking if I “needed a ride” while walking to work or customers who told me - out of nowhere- that they were going to “spank” me (I mean, literally, I do not flirt with people and I only just said hello to him). One customer referred to my job’s name and use it as a pun towards me ALL THE TIME and wanted me to “teach him how to email” by giving him my email ALL THE TIME (the name of my job has curvy in it). It is insanity out here! My mom has had this issue, too. Even when she was 50+ she has had a man motion towards her acting like he is going to grab her breasts (she works in a one store hamlet so hicks are about). It is gross. Just read y’alls comment and I was like... yep yep yep. Like it never stops. I live in fear walking home from work sometimes. I get so tired of constantly walking on eggshells to avoid being sexualized. I even stopped wearing makeup and any tight-fitting clothes to avoid comments at my one job. 😞 Anyways, sorry, I had to vent. One thing I do now is give them the awkward silent treatment because these old white dudes (majority of people who have harassed me) are just looking for a flipping response so when you give them nothing - they are confronted with what they said and how stupid it was.

I work at a wholesale store and I started thinking about this exact topic a couple months ago because it’s wild the amount of women I’ve seen this past year with bbls. Like normal regular women walking around with weirdly shaped bottoms. It’s become a point that I see one or two at least once a week and it’s just odd like where did they all come from?? When I think about it, I really think this is about wanting to appeal to men because to want something so ridiculously abnormal and big..? I just don’t see someone with a healthy mindset and self esteem wanting to have that type of body. The attention you attract, the over sexualization of a big behind. I really think it’s deeper than wanting to be happy with your body. One thing is putting on make up to feel pretty but another thing is to go to great lengths to put your life at risk for something so abnormal looking and excessive.

The fact that the Kardashians/Jenners are not admitting ANY responsibility from the fact that this trend is mostly thanks to them is so irresponsible and honestly DISGUSTING. They get away with it because they haven't ever admitted to the surgery even though we ALL know that's what they had done. It's horrific and sad and just messed up how that family has caused so much negativity to society (exploiting their fans low self esteem, cultural appropriation, stealing from mainly Black creators, lying about plastic surgery, promoting weight loss products..) yet they PROFIT off of it. Disgusting.

Born with a bbl, we call it the family curse. Men and women heavy hipped. It no fun need to ask somebody!!! I knocked my grandbabies into walls walking too close behind me!😳🤣😂 Wiped tables clean have to remember to tuck it! It just infuriates me to see people paying to have one. Not to mention many other nuances. Everyone is beautiful to me in our many sizes, shapes and colors. Love yourself!!!

I'm also struggling with body image...I'm petite...i wanna lose weight so bad. I love myself slimmer. At 20 years old being in varsity its kinda hard being short(.5'2). but I'm learning to love myself more. Here in South Africa most women are naturally built in an hourglass or pear shape..its what i grew up seeing. Africans are naturally thick not entirely though. But i prefer myself slimmer than i actually am.. i think I'm a size 2 in terms of American sizes. In South Africa I'm a 28/30 which is seen as skinny. Lots of love from South Africa 😭😍
