I don't fomo on any card. I don't even buy cards. I only open packs and keep the cards I want and sell the rest on TCGPlayer. I'm always trimming down my collection, because sometimes I end up not liking a card later than at first when I packed it. I only keep cards that are my favorite Pokemon or look beautiful. I may spend more money since Im just opening packs to collect but that's what I find the most fun in this hobby. Is to open product, finally pull your chase card, then look at my collection of my favorite pulls/promos, and the repeat the cycle. Packing my own card, instead of buying it, makes so much of a difference that I don't buy singles/slabs anymore. Might not be for everyone but that's what works for me! Also, just started getting into the actual TCG as well and find it makes me love this hobby even more! 🙂

Knowing how to play definitely makes it more enjoyable over all especially if you’ve got time to go to locals and I’m all for opening but sometimes it turns into burnout mentally or financially for some. Everyone has their own collecting style so more power to ya thanks for watching 😎🙏🏼

Definitely feel the same way with my cards, fine with keeping my sealed away for long term but slabs I could sell. The hard part is since the market was in a dip it seems like there’s so much more value a bunch of them could have over the next few years, especially all the alt arts. Have a good weekend!

For sure it’s very uncertain though and for those who can’t risk waiting some maybe should be cashing out. If it goes up or down it’s irrelevant to me I’m in for the long term but yeah gotta be transparent. Lots of great deals relative to past pricing. 😎🙏🏼

I think trading towards one is a good strategy because I see them in peoples binders all the time everyone seems to have one or two. But yeah at 50$ seems like it wouldn’t go much lower than that so we’ll see. I’m always skeptical. 😂

Most who got it from TPC would have scalped it off already. Doing a mass reprint only screws the collectors who bought in at a high price. Scalpers still won.. so what was the point

You make a valid point but it’s partially collectors fault they over paid to begin with and don’t get me wrong I do feel bad for people assuming the print finished and the fomo kicked in. I personally felt like the promo was too popular for them not to print more so they could sell more items on PC website. I told people if they waited they would have their chance when the hype died down. Now that was a guess but based on the hype I felt there’s no way they’d ignore the demand for it. So my hopes were that many would benefit after the release simmered. Sadly though you’re still right scalpers won regardless in the end. 😂

Dont think it going to drop dramatically in the north american market. The cards in netherlands have a new security measure that only allow one per person no matter where, they cant go to another place and get another one I think there will be a bit fear selling and then it go back up eventuality. It wont command similar price like munch pikachu but still go up over time. If someone from north america buy from europe could run the risk of paying custom cost that may not be cheaper overall. Also who know whats the print quality from the 100k print run as well

All really solid points but fundamentally I still think they will flood the market soon. Once people realize it’s just a card they may not want to hold on to it if it represents an easy 100$. You’re right about customs though. Either way will be very interesting to see what happens to the price. Maybe somehow it ends up even more popular. 😎🙏🏼

@orionsires sure flood the market specifically Europe more than the north American... plus risk of getting a fake card online, people who don't buy online... got Asian countries who didn't get the van gogh card I assumed, big population from there that could drive the buying and price to go up as well ... plus it pikachu, one of the top pokemons like charizard ....so many charizards out there, yet prices are high lol... people aren't tired of the popular pokemon surprisely

it reminds me of the beginning of covid when the nintendo switch was being scalped and sold out online in seconds. I really hate that nightmare of finding something at retail price that should realistically be abundant for consumers. regardless I feel lucky that i got my card for free with a 30$ Pokemon center order, and it was undamaged. I know so many people got lucky enough to secure the promo card, then it arrived destroyed inside the box. definitely a bad side of the hobby, but it extends into all corners of the collectible/consumer market.

Yeah that was another big thing they didn’t even package this card with any care so indeed many received damaged copies which should never have happened. Great comment 🙏🏼

people thought it would be Munch Pikachu 2.0 while just ignoring the fact that the card population was always going to be way higher and the price could never realistically approach it. I got one for $100 months ago and don't regret it; at the time there was no new from ptcg that there would be any additional releases, but I'd be happy to see prices come down, might get 1 more so I can have one slabbed and 1 for the binder

Great point on comparison to the munch absolutely right. Also yeah 100$ isn’t terrible and maybe if I hadn’t scored any I would have caved but my main concern would still be all the fakes circulating too. Having the original paperwork from TPC made me feel so much better. But in the end if prices fall it still gives collectors a chance to average down and cut their initial cost down but getting a better deal the second round. Can’t wait to see the prices fall. Someone in the comments jokingly offered me one for 55$ euro shipped 😎 I bet it hits 30$ at some point.

I wonder if the reprint will have any subtle difference on it? It would be nice to have some sort of separation for people who spent a lot on it, or really went out of their way to get it originally. I got two from buying from the Pokemon Center site in Canada on the day they were available... and I'm not saying I expect it to totally hold, but I definitely had to act pretty astutely to get them in time.

It’s ok most of us gave up a long time ago 😂 I agree though 100$ still seems high for a free promo. I really do like the art though. Definitely a card that I’ll own for a long time. The history of the card is going to be cooler than the card itself. 😎

Absolutely, in most cases over time and some cases the reprints get absorbed if the set is popular enough but for people with several copies in it for some kind of investment purpose I’d say sell at 100 while you can and grab a copy for less in a few months. Maybe I’m wrong but it will be interesting nonetheless to see how it holds up. Thanks for contributing to the topic and watching! 😎🙏🏼

I'm in the UK, people are getting upset at how much this card is dropping. I wonder if there's still a window to quickly grade and flip these as they drop.

I mean people are mostly upset because they bought into the hype. There was a short period where I honestly thought “ok TPC is not going to reprint I guess they’ll leave money on the table” nope. In this case wasn’t even for the money I don’t think just the franchise wanting to appease collectors. I think it’s a good thing and I think plays can still be made but nobody wants to get caught holding the bag on these. Will be interesting if it holds or if people dump soon. 😎

@orionsires 100% people over spent on the card, modern pokemon has proven over and over they will pretty much print to demand for every product. Though the real winners are the ones who picked up the Van Gogh Pokemon Art work aren't they.

Did you call him a Jit, I haven't heard that since I was in the Miami hood. But ultimately the Van Gough Pikachu is a collectable that'll be valuable and sought after in the future. That's all there is to it.

The “jit” wasn’t supposed to be that be that deep, but I personally think yeah the card will be valuable as time goes bye but I think as of current and the initial hype train was highly overstated
