I like the wolf snares around the 330. I often throw up random snares close to other sets, but I like how you have a trail around the outside and through the trees.

The wolves around me are very weary of 330 so snare or traps near them can work great. Thanks for watching and have a blessed season out there 👍

Since you run a decent length trap line, are check times daily or 48 hours depending on the trap. I know in the 3 states I trap footholds are 24 hours but conibears/snares are 48 and that 48 is depending on the weather and if slippage will occur.
@enigmaticgwichin1630
@enigmaticgwichin1630 Ай бұрын
There is no mandated check time where we are. After years of trapping everybody here runs their line once a week. Most of my catches happen 5-7 days after a check. Were in starvation country and the animals are very cautious. If a snow machine drives on part of my trapline, it actually ruins my chances of catching something there. If something freezes here in the beginning of trapping season “november 1st” it will stay frozen until the end of march. As long as small animals dont get to the fur the worst would be drying feet that make it a bit harder to skin. I would never want to wait longer than it takes for any fleas to die off, but thats mostly a lynx problem. Thanks for watching and writing

@enigmaticgwichin1630
@enigmaticgwichin1630 Ай бұрын
Most lynx have fleas, only seen then on maybe 1 or 2 wolves and never on a wolverine. So back in the day everybody used to”Buhack” but they dont sell it in the usa anymore. We hang the lynx for about 2 weeks and its usually long enough for the fleas die off, also mosquitoe spray can work if it comes in direct contact. Thanks for watching and God Bless

Since it severe cold condition , do the furbearers seem to notice the human scent and smell of steel ? Retired from trapping now, but here in Illinois I made my sets very sanitary!
@enigmaticgwichin1630
@enigmaticgwichin1630 22 күн бұрын
@@franciskelley2248 hello, they definitely can smell any human scent, steel, exhaust from the snow machine. But just like people every animal is different with different attitudes or fears toward smells. Lynx and marten dont care about smell as much as wolves, wolverine, and fox.

@@enigmaticgwichin1630 your territory looks quite flat, we have mountains, with lots of creeks and lakes in central british columbia, doesn`t get below 20 below anymore, since Mt St Helens blew up 1981. Summer time it used top get up to 120F and now we change to metric and it doesn`t get to 40C.
