It is so nice to see a real wood color again. I watch many of these makeovers and the paint wash many use seems so phony. I know it is a trend that sells right now but the warmth of this piece makes me smile and remember how they looked when I was a child seeing these pieces new. You gave this piece a refinish that respected its history. I am so glad I subscribed. Even when you paint or paint wash something I respect your decision and artistic slant. You will lose me if you ever pickle something purple. I suspect you won’t. 😊

Oh, I love a good wood grain in a rich color. Although I do paint and paint wash at times. You’re right, I would never pickle anything purple 😂
@cynthiashaw4511 ай бұрын
@@ivylane-home pickled kitchen cabinets was a thing in the late 80s and 90s. I went into a parade home in the early 90s and they had five houses entered and they pickled the cabinets pastel colors. 🧐🫣😳 it was all the rage at the time. My husband was a paint contractor and learned this process to do these parade homes. When I saw the ones pickled purple I looked at him and said….you should be ashamed of yourself. Never admit you did this.

Gorgeous work. It turned out beautifully, I liked that you added some American Walnut in the stain it cuts down on the "orange" look from yesteryear and updates this piece but doesn't take its origins away one bit. I can tell from your detail veneer work you are very talented, have you tried a fine art filbert brush? You can get much control with that when you need it, or fine lines for striations, also one of those makeup egg blender sponges they are good for buffing things out in the process, although your fingers are great! :) The before and after is remarkable.

The piece turned out beautiful. I do think you are working the veneer touch ups but that’s only because I can see myself doing the same thing. You might try using a clean dry paintbrush to blend instead of your fingers. And maybe a finer paintbrush to apply the paint with. I love the color of the stain. Are you keeping or selling ?

Do you need to seal the painted areas afterwards? Especially is using a final finish after all the repairs and painting is done? I'm hoping to do a similar job but wanted to use a hard oil as the final finish, but also don't want to smudge or remove the painted areas.... suggestions?
