A friend of mine just introduced me to this channel, and I am amazed. I didn't think that people would want to turn modern games into retro styled games, and the fact that people like Garbaj actually make those ideas into a reality is pretty special, if you ask me. for the boost/cooldown dilemma, id suggest keeping the cooldown. if theres no cooldown then its just a run button. if its a fast paced wall runner game, then a run button seems unnecessary and the base movement speed should just be faster. having the cooldown will give some reason for a shift in speed to exist and make players think about their movements more

Hey garbaj, I have been wondering if you know how to make more reliable physics projectiles in godot that dont clip through staticbodies when the projectile speed is too high for the physics updates. I have already upped the physics frames to 240fps but the same issue still comes up.
@garbaj3 жыл бұрын
For very slow + large projectiles I just use a rigidbody. For fast projectiles I've been using a new method where the projectile casts a small ray in front of it on every physics frame to check for collisions. It works well even with very low physics fps. Note, this is not the same as attaching a raycast node onto the front of your bullet. That doesn't work very well.
