Well, Ris, I think that Metal Sonic didn't STOP time, he SLOWED it. Remember that the Chaos Control is an imperfect copy of Shadow's. Zero just had the reflexes and reaction time (as evidenced by his superiority to Megaman who has the raw speed and reflexes to keep up with Quickman) to realize what was happening and counter it with his own time-freeze faster than Metal Overlord could kill him. I could go into a whole spiel about how time moves from the perspective of Quickman, and how it's similar to the way time moves for Overlord using the Chaos Control, but you get the point. Anywho, great vid as always!

It bugs me they used Metal's feats from the Archie comic but ignored the fact that Archie Sonic is several times faster than light, and that Metal Sonic kept up with that.

1) The rocket feat for Zero was used to compare his best durability feat against Metal Sonic's best offensive feat, not to compare both of their offensive capabilities. 2) Yeah, Death Battle has a habit of withholding information so that you will be surprised + have new information during the closing arguments. If they showed you Quickman's speed, you could easily look back and tell who was faster and they didn't want to make the winner obvious right at the get go. It makes sense, but I agree it can be frustrating at times, especially if it seems like you're expected to remember feats from several Death Battles ago to make a correct conclusion. It does hinder your ability to use deductive reasoning to determine the winner. 3) The Zero speed thing does seem a bit weird to use without having solid proof with examples, since the game makers probably weren't considering the specific numbers DB used when saying he was superior than Mega Man "in every way". Apparently in the Sonic/Mega Man crossover comic, Sonic was faster then Quickman (I haven't read the comic, so I could be wrong). So.... yeah.....

I don't think that they actually put Quick-man's speed into the side-bar. This was a throw-back to their older episode, Mega-Man vs. Astro-Boy. They expressed Quick-Man's speed there. So the idea was that if you remembered that speed, then you'd realize that Zero could keep up with Metal Sonic's speed. A part of me feels like that's unfair, since they didn't give you all the info in THIS episode, while another part of me thinks that it's a cool bonus for people who have been with them for that long and remember the implications... Also, I HIGHLY doubt that Zero is actually faster than Metal Sonic. I think the idea of that is more that he has capabilities of keeping up with that level of speed, so that it doesn't overwhelm him. Just like how a Baseball player isn't faster than a Baseball moving at 90 mph, but they are skilled enough to be able to be able to react to that type of speed.

I'm gonna be honest with you, Ris. I'm with you in thinking Metal Sonic should've won. They bring up quickman speeds, but it's been shown in the the comics that Sonic is faster than Quickman too. By far. And then there's the fact that Metal Overlord (though it needs parts from the Egg Fleet to work in the first place) can resist attacks from Super Sonic and could only be taken down by his team blasts. He should be WAY more durable than that.

Lightning is hypersonic. Sonic escaped a black hole and survived one. and Metal Sonic surpasses that. That makes Metal Sonic at least faster then light at best. Plus Metal Sonic usually dodges lightning speed attacks on you could say, a normal basis. And last time I checked Chaos control pauses time, but in your standards. Metal Sonic would have blasted Zero away using his ACTUAL speed. I have more to say but I'm bored.

Apparently, there was a mistranslation for the comic Death Battle brought up: instead of lightning speed, it was light speed (lightning is not actually as fast as light) in the original version. Not only that, if you look at the comic again, that ISN'T Quickman at all, that's ELECMAN. You can tell by the R (standing for "Right" Dr. Light's Japanese name) on his chest and his design. Anyway, at least in the comics and possibly in the canon, Quickman was made by Wily to be superior to Elecman in speed. Obviously Rock (Original Mega Man) beat quickman, which makes him FTL. Zero is faster than that so that puts him at a speed capable to keep up with Metal

Although I do think that Zero could beat Metal Sonic in his base mode, Zero shouldn't be powerful enough to defeat Metal Overlord.... Considering the fact that Metal Overlord could keep up with 3 supers (Super Sonic, Tails and Knuckles), when just 1 super is at the very least a moon buster.

People need to realize that they weren't saying Zero was faster than Quickman, they were saying if Megaman can comprehend and fight Quickman moving that fast, then Zero could. Zero is fast, but he's not Metal Sonic fast, but he doesn't need to be, he needs to be able to hit Metal Sonic, and if Megaman can hit Quickman (according to their calculations), then Zero could. You don't have to be faster than a person faster than you to hit them, you have to be fast enough to hit them, which isn't hard if you can predict where they are going.

I do not accept the "surviving the meteor explosion part" as a strength or defense measurement for Zero. Why? Well the fricking spaceship Zero was in took the blow, not him (like Ris said), and the Spaceship was also JUST FINE (22:08) after that explosion. So either the Meteor had a weakspot or something or that was the tuffest ship ever, but either way: Zero survived sitting in a seat while a spaceship was falling down, while Metal survived reentry without a ship. They just can't give Zero that feat.

in x5 you actually collected the items to rebuild the ship, and then equip it to be able to take out the thing by blowing it up, the point was him surviving the explosion, which explained in game would have wiped quite a big part of the planet, and even when you fail the mission in-game, you will face the consequence of Zero STILL surviving, but with the virus that left him re-infecting him and activating the old killing zero, which effectively has an ability that instakills you and he can infinitely spam it until he catches you (yes, that's actually in-game, where if you waste about two and a half minutes in the fight against him, he unleashes the Genmu Rei, and spams it until he catches you...oh and he becomes completely invulnerable during it) also Zero was built to destroy robots, Metal was made to kill fleshy things, Zero was built to kill Metal-like beings, including a Sigma as big as the planet in x7 P.S.: also it doesn't really take away from the realizm from the megaman franchise, just think about it like this: everything is slow? because everyone is around the same level, AKA they are about the same power level, so the only issue here is the difference in franchise power levels, and considering the megaman franchise is about mostly robots compared to the fleshy animals/humans in the sonic franchise, it's understandable

Just pointing this out, the time flow in Megaman games is relatively slower than real time so that us gamers can perceive what is going on. Ad proof of that, Zero can casually out pace most incoming enemy fire with his basic dash maneuver.

My only real problem with this episode is that they really lowballed both Metal and Zeros feats. Sonic has shown the ability to use the light speed dash without help in some games, Sonic has a bunch of faster feats in both the games and other sources, and Sonic is shown to be faster than Quickman in the comics which Metal should have scaled to. Not to mention Metal overlord faced off with Super Sonic who is way more faster and stronger than regular Sonic. Super Sonic is at least faster than light and has taken down Planet destroying Dark gaia and even worst monsters. This doesn't change the verdict especially since they did the same with Zero just comparing his strength and speed with Mega Man and Quick man when there are way more powerful and faster robots in the X series. Despite that large amount of text I actually really liked this episode. The fight was epic, but the mistakes in the analysis seem like they could have been easily fixed and they bother me. I'm not sure where the real cannon behind this is, there is a Manga of both Megaman and X also to figure out X story you need to dig deeper. Zero was first made by Dr Wily against Megaman, and was also referenced in the Power Battle arcade game. Problem was that Dr. Wily released Zero first before testing him. X was tested by Dr. Light capsule for a few years. Now, one major thing to note is that Sigma fought against Zero while Zero was evil which did two things. Somehow they were able to make Zero good, and Sigma was infected with something that Dr. Wily cooked up. Which infected his programming. Maverick [just bare with me] still happens because of the "worry" that Dr. Light had.That the robot would have too much freedom and might run amok. But it also happened because of the programming that Dr. Wily made. Which ether Sigma improved or was finished by his programming. Thus became the Sigma Virus. It should be reported that for Megaman X4 Zero does "Dream" about Dr. Wily, and his programming of turning against "Megaman" is still about. Just over layed by what ever Dr. Cain and the Maverick hunters could made for Zero newer programming or what ever. That's about it. Without Dr. Wily making Zero, Sigma would be a good guy, or he would become insane a bit later. Again this is just a long lost likely cannon we have. Ignoreing perhaps the Undertone that Maverick Hunter X might have made or past reference of Black Zero and X8/X9.

I think I missed this video when it came out. Huh. Anyway, this is actually one of my least favorite Death battles. Not because of the result, it makes sense to me. It just felt like the animation was janky. To me, the constant switches from 3D to 2D just didn’t work for me. Also, I believe hypersonic is less than 1% the speed of light. The biggest problem with this fight was: I kept comparing Metal Sonic with A.M.A.Z.O. The reason was, in the Eggman VS. Wily fight, Metal Sonic's info reminded me of A.M.A.Z.O. a lot, and I figured that they had the same type of copy ability. Which would've been superior to Zero's Weapon Copy ability. That type of scan ability would allow Metal to copy Zero's abilities and arsenal, ending the fight pretty quickly.(like Wonder Woman VS. Rouge did) Zero's copy could've given him Metal's copy ability, but the issue was the amount of time it would've took, to pull that off, and use it to his advantage. With that mindset, I kept thinking that Metal Sonic was going to win.

Lucario vs. Renamon. That's a tough one. It all depends on the setup. If it's just Lucario and Renamon, and no one else there, Lucario will probably win.(he's designed as a hard hitting Fighting/Steel type, with loads of fighting moves) If this Renamon is from Tamers, with Rika as her partner, Renamon will probably win.(I don't think Renamon can digivolve on the fly on her own, and Rika used cards to power her up, which I'm not sure if they were permanent) Note: I stopped watching Digimon when they started the Frontier series, cause Digimon Frontier sucked. So I'm not sure if there were other characters with a Renamon partner.

See here's the thing about Metal's Chaos Control. It's far from perfect, anything not being directly affected by it is that out of the Chaos Controls influence. Not to mention, in the fight that he uses Chaos Control you can easily break out of it. Zero 100% could have broken out of it. And for the record, the reason in the games they don't *look* fast, is likely due to disconnect. Think of it like this, Sonic is canonically *ludicrously* fast, but when do you actually *see* that speed while playing? It's because if you were actually moving that fast you would be unable to actually play the damn things. It's a deliberate disconnect from gameplay and story.

I don't believe the speed thing is so much about Zero MOVING that fast, but rather his capability of fighting against such a speedy foe. Mega Man is absolultely not faster than Quick Man, but rather his physical capabilities and sensors can track and tag Quick Man, similar to Wolverine's feat against Speed Demon mentioned in Wolverine vs. Raiden. Back to Zero, because he's a significant upgrade in every parameter to Mega Man, he would be even better equipped to battle speedy opponents as such.

As for Lucario vs. Renamon, I am a little worried about Renamon's chances. For starters, it's a mid-high-BST Pokémon vs. a Rookie-level Digimon. Not sure what the stat total range is for Rookie Digimon, but these are the lowest level of four (second-lowest out of five, if we count the baby Digimon). Now, I imagine that Renamon's biggest ace for this fight will be its speed. But if Lucario's reactions are faster... Also, I don't know if type matchups will matter at all in this. Renamon's signature Diamond Storm uses leaves, which would most likely be considered Grass-type to a Pokémon (half-effective on Steel-types). But the bigger conundrum is what types the direct moves would be. How do you differentiate Normal and Fighting for non-Pokémon? So yeah, due to those, I doubt types will be an important factor.

Especially since they're probably going to do a base of the Lucario movie plus augmentation from Smash Bros, where it gets stronger the more damage it takes (well I say "it" since the one in the game is unknown but the one in the movie is male. though...Renamon is an "it" but has a female voice, and told Rika's mother that Digimon don't really have genders like humans do). Bah went on a tangent there. Anyway I can't see Renamon having anything to really finish Lucario off. But I can see them fudging the types since they did that in Red vs Tai (Dramon Destroyer being "super effective" on dragon types even though it's only said to be such on dragon DIGIMON as opposed to draconids in general, even when the sheer force alone would have been sufficient to achieve the same outcome)

Well, Megaman universe can be surprisingly powerful, if you take a closer look at it. Megaman stopped a falling fortress with his bare hands, there's also a robot who can unleash a 12k celcius degree fire, etc. Though, to be fair, there aren't too many of this type of feats in Megaman, actually. At least, in Original Megaman timeline. But when it comes to X and Zero timeline, the power creep is in entirely different level. The power gap between Original Megaman and Zero, is just that huge. As for this battle, I still find it hard to believe if Zero really tanked that much explosion. He was nearly killed and lost most of his body from Gamma Sigma's explosion in X5, and he was inside a giant missile when it exploded (which destroyed a city), and he suffered a damage. Not fatal, but he was visibly injured. I don't think any of these are comparable to Eurasia's explosion. But then again, Zero must've at least felt a small amount of the explosion. Even if it's just 1%, still much bigger than 200 kiloton. As overall, I still agree with the result, though.

I honestly wish that Screwattack would stick to one version of the character so it gets rid of a lot of questions that make the battle seem incorrect. They seemed to use feats from cartoons, animes, games and comics for Metal Sonic and given that I've seen universe altering feats in the Sonic comics by Super Sonic himself it makes it seem like Metal is much greater since he can withstand that. I've had a few Death Battle ideas and one of them was Rainbow Dash vs Sonic and if I ever tried to make my own Death Battle I'd only stick to one canon instead of picking various things from other mediums. I liked this video but when they pull things from other mediums to boost a character it doesn't feel like the other character beat a legit version, just a fan interpretation of it.

MysteriousTomJenkins It especially bugged me during Mewtwo vs Shadow. Sticking with the first movie Mewtwo would have achieved the same ends. Did they not notice that the Genesect movie Mewtwo was a completely different individual? Like, HOW could they not notice, what with that one having a female voice and all? Though some cross canon is expected, like taking basic stats. I know people complained about it during 18 vs Marvel but that one didn't seem nearly as bad, since when you're dealing with comic book characters who exist across multiple canons at once, it's only reasonable to call in multiple canons for their opponents

There is a BIG gap between Hypersonic and Light called Relativistic, which is where Quickman is, Sonic is fast in his verse, but that doesn't mean other characters are limited to being slower than him

ScrewAttack intentionally ignored the most powerful versions of the Sonic characters in every battle, because they can't lie their way into making it a close fight or making them lose otherwise.

Archie Comics Sonic is basically Blue Rodent Flash, fast as hell and similar feats when it comes to running fast. Archie Super Sonic is the only one with high level offensive feats and depending on how you spin a few things could range from planet level to universal level. The people that think he is a match for One-Percenters (the top 1% in power of all fictional characters) like Super Saiyan Goku are just retarded though.

About timestops vs. timestops, when you think about this from a physics perspective, yes, to the person utilizing the time stop, the time literally stops for them, however, _for the other person_ , no, time has not stopped. The thing about time stops is that time stops for _you_ , not the other people. Or at least, this is how I remember it going... Going by this, if the other person is able to detect some kind of rift in space-time due to a timestop or something like that,(Zero probably could, maybe...), then they _may_ be able to deploy their own in order to... either negate ore counter? This is where things start getting unclear for me. EDIT: Also, about the scales of power, yes, a super powerful person _might_ be boring... If put into a setting where _everything else_ is weaker, or _seems_ weaker by comparison. However, in the Megaman universe, everything usually scales better, because an enemy is faster, stronger, tougher, or sometimes all of the above. Because of this, there's a better sense of scale, allowing the characters you play/watch feel more _grounded_ , rather than some insane, godly being that's above all others with a few weaknesses.

Well I am glad that I got this one right despite me being a Sonic fan but this was a pretty good fight even though my knowledge of Zero comes from Marvel VS Capcom 3 but it was really fun to get to know a lot about him but going with the next time with Lucario and Renamon will be a interesting one since it was confirmed by Ben that there will be no Trainers/Tamers this time around but I'm ready to see the next fight in a few weeks. :D

yeah, zero survived not only the explosion, but the re-entry into the earth, and landing. also quickman moves faster than lightning (as was recorded). they mentioned it in the after-analysis. heh but yeah the games definitely don't or probably can't because of game mechanics, convey the real power of megaman characters.

yeah..megaman (and X) games don't do a very good job of portraying how powerful the characters are the ship you fly to destroy the meteor isn't a regular ship..you spend half the game (X5) collecting parts to upgrade it and make it powerful enough to destroy it. if you try to launch the ship without upgrading it it'll generally fail (it's RNG based but the chances are really low) screwattack actually withheld some of the best feats and scalings they could have used for Zero, i assume to save them for a possible future DB with megaman X characters. for example, in the intro cutscene of Megaman 8 a character called Duo flies from jupiter to earth in 30 seconds or so, which is a lot faster than light. Megaman later fights and defeats him...so they could have scaled Zero to Duo instead of quickman. and in Megaman X8, the final boss Lumine has a feat of destroying a star. Zero and X beat him of course, so you could arguably scale them to (at least near) his level.

despite what quick man speed is listed at in the Archie crossover comic Sonic way outpaces quick man. but at the end of the day zero is a hero so his feets are always have him winning Where Metal is a villain and will constantly have defeats so this outcome is to be expected

There was no indication within the story and absolutely no reason to think that the stalactite feat was the extent of Metal Sonic's power, but him losing was completely dependent on that assumption. DB got this one wrong. You should be more confident in yourself, Ris.

One thing that just occurred to me is that both of them can copy abilities but neither copied the other powers (Based off what i saw)

Well Zero has to kill a robot to copy their powers and unlike Metal who was stated that his abilities are simplified, Zero can copy and alter abilities to fit his need, so while people like to say that comic Metal would have destroyed Zero, he would realistically only need one shot to stop time and kill Metal. Plus while Metal had Shadows CC it was an imperfect copy due to his programming, not much he could do there... Sorry for the long response but you know covering my bases.
