After nearly a decade, Mark Haynes, a.k.a. Alvin-Earthworm, has come back with a reboot of the first episode of SMBZ! Once more I can say that I enjoyed the premiere, and I look forward to watching more of the series!

Part of it was the song, but that was kind of a beautiful moment moment with Luigi stepping out in front of Mario. Of course it was basically suicide, but who cares. Man stepped up and said "hell no, you want to kill my brother you are going through me first." Not said literally of course, but close enough. Just a really touching moment. Someone who was mostly comic relief in the episode but still was the only one who did so. Plus it did actually buy enough time for them to be saved, so good job. This whole thing was just awesome and hilarious. The whole showdown with Bowser was awesome. From the starting fight, to the terror of metal bowser, to the saves at the end. Good times.

Yes Ris, Alvin's going to remake all the episodes and luckily this time he'll finish at least the first saga! He created a patron so that he can live while doing this animations because he's not working right now. I really liked this reaction video so I hope you do it with the next episodes too!

I'm pretty sure we'll be seeing more episodes from Alvin in the future, as he's rebooting the entire series rather than just one (or two) episodes. He also has a Patreon, which makes it seem more official. What I can say from this is that if you go back and look at the original two episodes, the Bowser's Inside Story sprites do nothing but make these animations look much, much better. I'm really glad that game exists, because the Superstar Saga ones just don't do the job for me. Also, having the BiS theme for Bowser is really nice. I just can't get over how much I like that game and how much it helps make Alvin's series shine.

Rocket Ken Same! I LOVED BIS's sprite work. It was so fluid and on-model compared to SS's and PiT's. Dream Team's and Paper Jam's sprites and models I'm still getting used to.

If you want to see a fandub for the reboot, the youtuber Kirikai (He's mentioned in the credits for the intermissions) is doing a fan dub for this and has the first episode out for us to see. Not gonna say much else other then his own edits to the episode is pretty good.

I've watched the original series before and being a fan of it I've decided to watch the reboot. And I love it. I love when they use Mortal Kombat music and One Punch Man music. And yes the rapid punch technique that Mario used was in fact a reference to Fist of the North Star.

Used Bowser's Inside Story's sprites more, I think. Bowser's sprite is definitely from there as it is the most expressive he's been along with likely the most amount of moving parts for the sprite.

The "main" villain's name is really confusing. In the original series, he was Mecha Sonic (not the one from Sonic 3) but now, his name is Metalix and he also has a new design. I still get confused with the whole thing.
