It is finally time!!
Most of the borders in Europe are open again, so I am going to start doing what I love most in this world: traveling on my motorcycle and taking you with me! This season will probably be a lonely one, as I am isolating myself and my Honda CB500x called "Ronin" as much as possible. But - I'm sure the adventures will be there nonetheless!
Want to learn how to use drones, GoPros and 360 cameras to film your solo motorcycle adventure? Check out: www.itchyboots.com/academy
Here I teach all my filming techniques including getting drone shots while riding!
Tools, gear & equipment I use:

I didn’t saw anyone in the comments to speak about this already, so I will explain it. 9:37 the reason why everyone is doing what’s called a „Rettungsgasse“ (translated: Rescue alley) in Germany is, because it is required by law and you can get a big fine when the police is catching you not doing it. It is because not every road in Germany has that very right „emergency lane“. The right lane in Germany is only there to park your car if there is a problem like a flat tire, not for ambulances to drive on. And because many people died in the past on German roads, because the ambulance couldn’t get to the accident in time, because there were a lot of cars in the way, the government placed in a „rescue allay law“ that every German driving instructor will punch in your memory while learning to drive. And also: driving though a rescue alley, is only allowed by emergency vehicles with blue lights on top. Not even motorcycles are allowed to drive through, if you doing that, your drivers license is definitely gone when getting caught. But because you don’t have a German driving license, I actually don’t know what they would do. But for a German, the license would be gone for sure. Greetings from Hamburg :)
@agustinenzoa4447
@agustinenzoa4447 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, good explanation. I understood that's the reason when I saw it. But I don't think that a fast motorbike filtering would block an ambulance wailing it's way thru if you're aware as should be.
@Julian-re2ey
@Julian-re2ey 4 жыл бұрын
@@agustinenzoa4447 Yes, but not even lane splitting is allowed in Germany. Not even at traffic lights. Motorbikes are by law the same as any other vehicle on the street. This includes no driving on bike lanes and stuff like that. Not only the police will give you a bad day about it, also pretty much every car driver will honk at you for doing that xD And also you can argue that, the moment you allow filtering though rescue alleys for one person, there will be more people doing it in the future, and this would create new problems.

Nice lesson: German Autobahn for beginners. 😁 We call it Rettungsgasse. It's so useful for the people who help during an accident. Other countries should use this too. Its somewhat tolerated for Motorcylist when the weather dosent allow them to wait in traffic. In other countries they mostly use the lane on the far right for emergency vehicles cause that excludes human errors (ppl not building a rettungsgasse) which atleast somewhat makes sense

WhooHoo!! After speaking to a few people over the years, Iceland has been a place I’ve considered visiting on the bike. Using a similar route, but from the UK. Maybe one day...... Re filtering... a trip I did from UK to Düsseldorf was my first time on the bike on mainland Europe. I hit the main road around Rotterdam at rush hour. Everyone kept to the speed limit, but bikes were filtering through any gap there was. A bit mad! Then once across the border into Germany, all filtering stopped, so bikes queued with cars, but once the road cleared, then I saw bikes speed away. That was a bit of an eye-opener! Wishing you a great trip. I will follow with interest. Have wanted to visit Denmark too, but will look at it again once this virus business is over 😀

Glad I found this channel. I only found it today! I think people who have never ridden think this would be easy but to ride around the world you have to be a bad ass. I give you a lot of credit and look forward to watching more videos. I was a huge fan of Long Wary Round with Ewan Mcgregor and Charley Boorman. Love this kind of stuff.

That traffic-jam evade to the side will become a law here in Belgium soon too..Not only in Germany. Nice to see you riding again. Be safe!

I enjoyed both my trips to Iceland, and I am sure you will too! My second trip was almost two weeks on a motorcycle in a group. Even though Ronin will not be able to go over the top of the country due to river crossings, you should be able to go towards the center to see some glaciers and hot springs. Enjoy, and be well. Peace!

I thought I would watch a young Dutch lady travelling Europe on a motorcycle to make a change from watching a guy in Canada fixing up Jet engines. What's the chances?

So here is a mental idea... could you turn your amazing new logo into a tank pad?! Because the new Himalayans don't seem to have the super cool tank pad but an Itchy Boots one would be kind of cool!

It is not allowed to filter through the traffic jam on the autobahn but everyone does it anyway :D In such situation riding the right shoulder is potentially cheaper then riding in the middle.

I am from the north of Germany and I drive Motorbikes' sins many years. On the motorway in Germany, exact Schleswig-Holstein in the north we drive through the middle, but carefully and not to fast and look into the rear mirror to see the ambulance or the police or the firefighters.
