FANTASTIC video Ana :-D and your Echinocactus grusonii var. albispinus is absolutely BEAUTIFUL, and a wonderful size, these very spiny cacti are not the friendliest to repot haha as they love to bite LOL! and you have repotted this beauty so beautifully, and the Terracotta pot is so very beautiful too, thanks so much for sharing the fantastic repotting Ana, and Hans and I are sending you lots of love and happiness and CAFFEINE and PLANT POWER to Las Vegas for a wonderful weekend XXXX

Those Talavera pots are beautiful!!! And those cacti look amazing in them!!! Your husband did a great job picking out your VALENTINE'S DAY gift!!! Him and my husband both know not to bring home CUT flowers that will die. If I get roses they better have roots attached. LoL

Nice work Ana. Try Thorn Armor, Hex Armor Elite gloves. Their ad shows holding dead weight a Golden Barrel with just the gloves. They work very well for me.

Great job Ana!! A trick I sometimes do with plants that have lost roots is mix some rooting powder into the soil. The extra lava rock is a great idea!! Especially filling the bottom space for extra drainage!!! I have a couple of very large old goldens I set one out every year in our dog yard rock garden. It's a plant our lab won't try to distroy!! Awe lovely Valentine’s presents. I love flowers but not cut flowers, and I told my husband I rather receive cacti or succulents than flowers unless its a potted flowers. But this year no cacti for me this Valentine’s because garden centres are closed huhu. Hope I can find a white barrel like yours. Love your pots as well very nice and big. 💚🌵

Oh, your garden centers close during winter? Don’t they sell winter growing plants? Yes, I feel that buying rooted plants is a better use of money than cut flowers. 😉

I have a red spine barrel but not sure if it's the same as yours. It hasn't grown in like 5 years so maybe i need to repot it. Aha lava rocks. I use cactus soil mix too. Can't figure out why mine doesn't grow. Awesome repotting video my friend.

Hi, thanks for stopping by. Try changing the soil on your cactus. Our water in Vegas is so alkaline. Sometimes it stunts their growth. 🙂

Many cacti will continue to flower even if you disturb its roots, as when repotting. There are a few that are more sensitive and will drop their buds. If you want to be on the safe side, just wait until it is done flowering before you repot it. 🙂

I’ve seen the golden spines version of this (golden barrel) as big as a meter wide and a meter tall. But that takes decades before it reaches that size.

Home Depot sells them. But they are big sizes as they are used here for landscaping purpose. I am looking for smaller sized ones. 🙂
