The song fit well for many ways: -The background of the dark dawn sky, with tinges of green peeking from the gray -The song shows the sadness behind the madness of Riggs -It may describe how Riggs lost everything and the next woman who meets him will love him despite his shortcomings....and that he should take it easy and not be so neurotic. Hence, "cheer down."

It’s funny you say that the next woman he meets he’ll “cheer down”, George Harrison actually wrote this song as his wife said he had that type of personality and told him to cheer down a bit. It stuck with him and here we are now.

@GenGamesUniverse Жыл бұрын
At the beginning of this clip, this was actually going to be the original ending to LW2. No voice overs, nothing. It was supposed to have been that Riggs was gunned down in the line of duty and succumbed to his wounds as Murtargh was holding his lifeless body on his legs. However, at the last minute, Richard Donner felt he had another LW film in him to film and he changed it so that Riggs survived (barely) from his wounds, and he had Mel and Danny re-record some adlib lines.

@@thedarkknight_1983 It's not like that in the UK when you watch a film rated '15', which is the R-rating equivalent. Only people aged at least 15-years-old are allowed to go see it hence the need to lie about their age.

@TurgeonFan77132 It should also be noted that the only reason this song is featured in this film to begin with is due to George's friendship with Eric Clapton. Clapton had requested some songs from Harrison in late 89 to help pad out his "Journeyman" LP. Harrison sent him over a tape containing "Cheer Down", "Run So Far" and "That Kind Of Woman" and told Clapton to select a song for his album. Clapton selected "Run So Far" but apparently thought much of "Cheer Down" that it was included here.

I like how timeless this songs really is, when you think about it. So many '80s action/comedy movies would end with music, most of which sounds dated today or "stereotypically '80s". This one really stands the test of time. It doesn't sound '80s, or anything really, it's just an awesome song and the perfect end to an awesome movie. I think I need to watch this tonight...

The title of the song is attributed to harrisons wife "olivia" who would tell her husband, "Okay, cheer down, big fellow" when he became too enthusiastic.[ "Cheer Down" was among the four compositions that Harrison offered to eric clapton for inclusion on the latter's album journeyman. Clapton instead decided to use it for the soundtrack to the film lethal weapon 2 in which he had been commissioned to supply, but he persuaded Harrison to contribute his own recording for inclusion in the film.

I agree. What a year. Lethal Weapon 2, was a brilliant sequel, Batman started off the comic book franchise films (again) And we come to The Abyss and License To Kill. Both films performed below expectations, with some cynics claiming that Licence To Kill nearly killed off the Bond franchise. However here we are 23 years later and both films have stood the test of time, The Abyss is now hailed as a classic and License To Kill is now the misunderstood masterpiece that it always was. Thanks Craig.
