This is why all 4 movies are required viewing. In the 1st, Riggs joins Murtaugh's family. In the 2nd, Leo joins them, the 3rd adds Lorna, the 4th cements it all and gives them a happy ending as one big family with new generations born. Riggs went from a suicidal burnout to a new husband and father. Also, this is the movie that introduced Jet Li to American movie audiences, so that fact for a Hong Kong movie fan like myself it was a very happy moment when Jet Li finally started to get the recognition worldwide that he deserved.

I'll say it, Lethal Weapon is one of the most comforting franchises, in the sense that it's consistent in quality, has the same core cast of characters throughout the franchise while adding new ones that add something, and is nothing short of rewatchable, because of those characters. It's like we're part of the family as we watch them.
@DonRoccoRicardo
@DonRoccoRicardo 3 күн бұрын
So true. As someone who grew up watching them in the 80's and 90's you nailed it. The theme of the franchise is "family", and this 4th entry encapsulates that to the fullest degree.

What i love is despite the Goofyness, the campyness and the Over the top 80's/90's Action. Each movies subtely/sneakely deals with some serious emotional stuff where Gibson's acting range really shines through.

The 80's and 90's spoiled us with Good shit Now there was also a LOT of awefull and stupid shit, but they had the decency to die in a corner unheard of and be left alone. Now if something is shitty and flop, studios and Directors/actors make a point of honor to involve everyone and Blame everything but themselves and directly attack the audience, wich is Mental to me.

There's actually an upload featuring audio of a 1998 audience watching the fight in Murtaugh's house, and everyone went crazy for not only Jet Li but also Rene Russo. Yet two years ago, Avatar: The Way of Water got a lot of flack from whiners online about featuring a pregnant woman shooting a bow & arrow in the trailer. Because women aren't supposed to fight in such a condition (even though she was just hunting).

That final fight with Jet Li still gives me chills. I was 14 when I first saw this in theaters, so I was SO SCARED that Riggs was gonna die. lol This was the movie that introduced me to Jet Li, and he made a badass and terrifying impression on me. One of the greatest final fights I've ever seen, because it was so brutal and real. You get this dread that Murtaugh and Riggs weren't gonna make it, because they were clearly outmatched and outskilled. Not only that, the way that Murtaugh used his sixth sense to save Riggs from drowning was amazing. That entire scene was beautiful. From the music to the anxiety, it clearly shows how much they love each other. Just a full circle moment of brotherhood. Probably my personal favorite of the 4 films, but the first one is RIGHT on the edges. Thank you both for reacting to entire series. It was a blast revisiting these.

After LW3, the castmembers work together again in double teams. Mel Gibson & Rene Russo starred in the suspense drama from director Ron Howard, RANSOM (1996) while Danny Glover & Joe Pesci did a road-trip comedy called "Gone Fishin" (1997), co written by J.J. Abrams. So now here comes LW4. 10 plus years since the franchise began and it feels like yesterday that Riggs & Murtaugh just met. Just as before, connective tissue bringing everything together. All of the cast and their characters directed in great form. So many moving parts to this and every part well played. All i wanted from this was good resolutions for every scenario. Including Jet Li (American-studio film debut) and Chris Rock into this installment was a big surprise going into it. When it was over, it was over. But everything tied to together just fine with a bit of the waterworks from several fans seeing it through to the end and loving it. Director/producer Richard Donner passed away in 2021 (age 90) and at the time, Lethal Weapon 5 was in pre-production. While dealing with his health, he asked Gibson (just in case) to take over as director. Gibson will indeed helm LW5 and the plot of it very hush-hush. I suggest you check out Jet Li in Romeo Must Die (2000), Kiss of The Dragon (2001), Unleashed aka Danny the Dog (2005), Fearless (2007) and The Forbidden Kingdom (2008 with Jackie Chan).

It's interesting to consider Leo's Froggy story as applying to the Lethal Weapon films, too. They are all so good, but some of us find it hard to admit we thought LW4 was better than LW1. For some, it's enough just to say, "It's great. It's not better. It's just different." I've seen these movies countless times, and I've only just realized this while listening to you guys talk about Leo's story. In a sequel, it's so rare to see such impactful writing that reaches the audience in more ways than one and hits home so well. I normally avoid the word "meta", but that story was it. Absolutely great reaction, guys. I started watching you after my divorce about 3 years ago, after losing half of my family, who I was actually closer to than my side of the family. As much as watching Dave Chapelle and Bill Burr, your channel has helped me laugh and find joy in the world as much as any therapy (not to discount therapy, though). Thanks for all of your great content. It means so much to many of us!

...indeed, martial arts icon Jet Li's first movie in the U.S...and it showcases just a small measure of Li's dynamics, charisma and skill. A martial arts skill that dares to rival even the late, great Bruce Lee. Jet Li's last Chinese-produced movie (...he did several...) before doing "Lethal Weapon 4" was in fact, a homage/remake of Bruce Lee's "The Chinese Connection"...called "Fist of Legend". It remains Jet Li's best film, ever. A great storyline, with jaw-dropping/eye-popping action...and comes highly recommended...

That fight scene in the house was epic! But you guys are crazy putting number 2 as the last movie. For me, it's 2, 3, 4, and 1. Number 2 gave us Leo Getz. Number 3 Murtaugh is the one that has the mental breakdown because he shot that kid. And, 4 just shows the progression of the characters. 1 is the start of it all.

This fourth movie came out when I was 15 and I loved the first three a lot. Even then, I thought this one was a inauthentic let down.

Hi guys, First of all, i thank you for the energy you are bringing trough your movies reaction because everytime i watch your video i'm laughing so hard that gives me a tears in my eyes, really ! I like your reactions both and especially with the "Beverly Hills Cop 2" (with Eddy Murphy's signature : his smile, lol) at the end of the movie, the last scene is funny but your reaction made it more funny and i laughed during a couple of minutes and i enjoyed that moments, So, i would like to ask you if is it possible to make a video reaction about a movie that i'm sure and i'll guarantee you if you watch it, you'll be amazed and you'll find it very entertaining, i'm talking about "predator" from 1987 (the original), as a fan of Arnie's movie and you too i guess, simply this movie is worth it, There are another great "Action" movie, it's the IMPOSSIBLE MISSION, but from 3 to 7, you've made the 1st one but still worth to make the rest of that serie, thank you guys. until then have a nice day
