Is printing in Pla really a good idea i heard that it starts decomposing when sunlight hits it and it melts very easily.
@tomking20305 жыл бұрын
that's very true. I printed out about 500 dollars worth of PLA over 5 years on Star Wars props. I'm now sold on ABS. You can sand it and from what I know it won't warp later on and costs about he same as pla does. With ABS. I just need to print at 250 from the extruder and 110 on the bed with tac and glue inclosed in a raise 3D printer never fails any print. I wish I knew about this shit 5 years ago because I have $200 more in PLA that will warp. That is useless in Arizona

I tend to use Hatchbox PLA, which you can find on Amazon for about $20 per kg spool. Sometimes you can find multi-roll bundles and save maybe 20% per spool. There are some other highly rated manufacturer's (like Overture) which I haven't tried, but the ratings seems to like.

Not bad. You should have tested the lazy susan before you got to bolting things together. I have a 400mm and it sticks something fierce. Kyle Campbell had the same problem, (check out his channel) it is a pain in the butt to fix with the dremel and sanding paper. I haven't gotten into mine very far yet.Also, it is a good idea to hit the metal looking parts with a base coat of gloss (I'm planning to use high gloss) black paint, then the metal colors. I'm using aluminum for mine, with the rub and buff afterward. There is a trick of using translucent yellow as a base coat as well (I haven't tried it yet). I have the Sonic blue pearl coming in this weekend. I tried a blue metallic from Walmart and... yeah, no. You can find mods on Thingiverse including stuff for additional panels and such. I don't know when I'll get around to uploading my mods for the V2 utility arm bays or the extra arms I'm working on.www.thingiverse.com/Eebel/aboutwww.thingiverse.com/hammer32/aboutwww.thingiverse.com/Retrodalek/aboutwww.thingiverse.com/mascal/designsI just finished Mascal's fusion furnace, very cool.www.thingiverse.com/Rorlin/designsHe has a youtube channel explaining some of his work. I strongly suggest you look into the mods before you get too carried away printing the stock stuff. There might be something you want in there. I have multiple versions of the top of the periscope because I didn't know about 1 mod that has a detachable cover plate for instance. Having hidden vents in the battery covers for the motors to allow air flow to prevent overheating also makes sense. If you are doing the full build watch out for the nut capture system in the skirt. They are a pain in the rump! The small ones do not fit well, at least in my experience. I'm going to have to modify them in order to get them in. Watch out for the data door hinge too. It is flagged in the directions. There is a mod for it which replaces the plastic rod with a metal one. I agree with Mighty Jabba, boy do I have flashbacks of sanding! I was doing it last night with the skirt though! Good luck with that!
