WOW !!! I do not want to pay that electric bill ! so much bigger then anything I built. The biggest i ever made is around 1988 and is 200 amp. around 14V +- 15% adj. is twice that size. is iron core . 4 power mate 50 amp transformers. big stud diodes. huge filter bank. 30 - 2N 3772 transistors . 3N3772 driver . TIP 120 reg board out put. 723 reg. IC reg . has all meters. 240V 20 amp input. never failed . thermal cut off. soft start because of over 1FD cap bank. just a test bench supply I hardly use. had ADJ current limit 50 to 250 amps. around 225 amps for a wile trips 20 amp ac breaker. he can add ammeter and volt meter later. have it remote and sit buy the amp. can also all 240V ac meter and incoming AC amps if he wish to do so. easy to add later. they make a 200 amp breaker box he can mount with in 10 ft of that. or even bolt to the side of that supply. what I did but 20 amp 240V . That 10 ft code is same in NY. Their is a update to the NEC but is for 10 amp breaker to be used in main panel. and switch box must have natural wire. 73's

Ever seen a Amp shoot a Arc out the top of the case 4 or 5 inches? I saved for 8mo and bought a BEAUTIFUL D&A Maverick dual power. Fired it up, talked Friday and Saturday and while on ssb swinging maybe 20 25w it sent a arc out the top! I unplugged it. Later I turned it to am and turned radio as low as possible and see some tiny arcs on the 4 final 6lq6 tubes. I could cry! I've been without anything since my new 4pill 2879c carl built caught fire! I have the worst luck ever. Lucky it didn't shock me though. That's a blessing

Has anyone ever looked at any of the high voltage DC systems that are now being installed around the world and the kind of hardware it takes to make it work it is extremely interesting there is no super transistor that works at half a million volts just a few hundred thousand of them at a much more reasonable realistic transistor voltage. Not your average local utility switchyard. But not really any different than what he is doing and when I think about my welder outside it works very much like a power supply it doesn't care if you're welding or not I just can't get the voltage down below about 20 volts at 400 amps. Could you imagine having a hard short in their. Running my lathe the other day it would go forward fine but it didn't sound quite right I tried to reverse it later in the day and it just wouldn't go just clicked off another try or two checking all the obvious possible reasons. So the only thing left was to open up the control panel in the front where the switch itself is, surprise what do I find fried Mickey Mouse sans the explosion. Had been chewing on those wires between the two contactors.

I built a 1200 amp power supply out of those ,and it works great,i used a 14" x 24" Ica case.i didn't need something that big ,but i have it if i ever do.

Wait this is to drive an amplifier? Also if you do this enough I am surprised you haven't had some custom PCBs made to make it easier to connect the PSUs to the cables. Maybe a breakout board to run them in pairs.

The goal is I got one or two more of these to build than I'm never going to build anymore

If this is a 240 capable unit you should be in good shape to run it on a 125A factoring in efficiency of these typical units. For the one or two folks who have ever thought about running one of these
