As you were talking, I thought: she is so brave to speak this freely. I 100% agree with you on all of it. I also have a WONDERFUL husband! Modern day feminism is sooooo misguided! But then again, all of your values are deeply rooted in what’s expected from us by God, and that sometimes is hard for others to swallow. Bravo my SISTER!!!🙌👏

It makes me so sad that “modern feminism” is seen this way… the modern feminism I have always seen from real people (not extremists online) has always been supportive of women AND men. I’m raising my son to be a feminist and teaching almost all the same things you have stated but for him. Was thinking about how I agree with a large majority of your points especially the body positivity and teaching my son that silence is being agreeable with sexism.

This is not a hatefull coment. but True feminism is not based on hating men or to put men below women. True and modern feminism is to make men and women equal in front of society and the law. those who think women should crush men to highlight women are extremist groups, who wherever they represent are dangerous for society. as is said in this video; you can´t judge men as a whole, you can´t judge modern feminism as a whole group of hatefull women looking for extinguish men. Again, this is not a hatefull coment. It´s just a clarification from a feminist

I agree with you on all of this! One thing I want to add is that the body image/body shaming conversation also goes the other way - not just for overeating and the word "fat". I've always been underweight, all the women in my family have been smaller than average/underweight. It's genetic. I eat when I'm hungry, I try my best to take care of myself just like everybody else, but I've always had a crazy thigh gap and very small legs, etc. No matter how much I ate. I still remember comments about how "that girl needs a burger" and "do you even eat anything?" and "you should eat more so you aren't so skinny". I didn't realize until recently just how deep these comments have affected me over the years, to the point where I can't even wear shorts out in public without feeling super uncomfortable (let alone a bikini). It's just as important to teach kids that NOT clearing your plate or NOT wanting a second serving because they're already full is FINE. It's just as important to teach kids that making comments about how skinny someone is is just as offensive as making comments about how fat someone is.

While I agree on most things you said, I do not agree that women are naturally more agreeable. They are more agreeable because of upbringing and societal expectations. For example: girls are usually complimented on how they are nice and well-behaved (at school for example), while boys can run around screaming and people will say that boys will be boys. Nevertheless, I think it's great that you want to teach your girls to stand up for themselves, but telling them that they are naturally nice or whatever can bring them down. As a feminist myself, I would also like to clarify that feminism isn't about degrading men, it's about being equal (not the same, but equal) and having equal opportunites and laws. Feminism is against the patriarchy, not individual men. Apart from that I'm really positively surprised by this video and I'm glad you want to raise your girls this way :)

PREACH about the modesty and "no good men" arguments!! To add: modesty can also be the way you act, you can wear a long sleeve with maxi skirt and be flirty and seductive and still encourage lust. Still not 100% responsible for the thoughts either.

Yep, wonderful men out there 👍🏻 my man has ALWAYS been respectful, loving, caring, generous, sweet, fun, smart, exciting, adventurous, and honestly a total dream. Does he make mistakes like any other human? Sure. But he’s an amazing godly man. (And sexy helloooooo).

I think you did so well at having a balanced approach to this. Specifically number 1. It is important to honor the body God gave you by taking care of it but it is equally important not to make that an idol or obsession either. Great job Rachel! ❤️

Yes!!! 🙌🏻 all of this is my goal with my daughter, also want to add body hair to the first point about acne. I have PCOS so I have thick body hair. Growing up I was always told you had to shave because body hair was gross. I spent my entire teen years and early 20’s shaving my arms, underarms, legs, and female area often, because I was told I had to. Now at almost 30 I only shave when I want to! I haven’t shaved my arms in years, I shave my underarms once a week, and my legs and other places whenever I want to. Not for my husband, not because society says I need to. But just because I want to! It’s been so freeing and I love that my daughter mentions it and we have conversations about it. My daughter is almost 6.

You have a lot of good points. Just wanted to say that being a feminist does not mean you hate all men or that you are expecting women to show their bodies. In probably every social movement, there are subgroups. - Just like in feminism.

I agree with a lot of this video being a catholic mother but disagree with your point about dressing modest. Women should dress modest for God first, then for herself, then for men. Bikinis are not modest and wouldn’t showing up to the beach in one almost be an accessory to sin? Genuinely want to know your thoughts. If a women is showing enough skin to make a man feel tempted then that’s not modest enough. If she is covering up the best she can and a man feels that way, then I agree, that’s on him.

Actually I’m going to add two points to my last comment lol. I have a newborn son and the idea of women degrading him and talking about him like he’s a piece of trash one day just because he is male is not going to fly. We are going to put in the work and prayers to raise a man who will reflect Jesus. And third, why do so many women not look for awesome men in the right places? If you are only looking for a man online, on dating apps, at bars or tailgates…. Maybe you won’t find him there!

So interesting how we all have different lessons we want to impart to our kids! I would just say that as a woman that chooses to cover my body and hair that my modesty choices have absolutely nothing to do with helping men out to curb their sexual desires. I do it because I believe God knows me better than I know myself and told believing women to cover (after telling men to control their gazes first..they’re not our responsibility) By choosing to cover my body I get to control who sees my beauty and sexuality (stretch marks and all 😝) as well as anyone who looks at me safely assumes I am a woman who believes in God and has a certain set of moral standards. Modesty and body confidence aren’t exclusive from each other we can teach both! May God guide as all and make us successful in our attempts to raise righteous happy healthy women 💕

Hi ! As a "modern feminist", I agree with most of what you say :) I think many people misunderstand what you call modern feminism though. As with every movement and religion, there is a loud minority that gives a bad image of the movement, which doesn't mean they accurately represent the movements values and ideas.

Who cares if you get hate on this video, you preach girl! So far I’ve got a 2.5 and 5 month old both girls 👧🏼 I agree with most of your points in this video, especially with the body image and food, I’ve always been overweight and have struggled with body confidence but I will say I’m not in 100% agreement with your modesty points…..just from a past and hearing how men think and are, I’d have to share more but it’s hard to just type it on the internet

this is so refreshing to see!!! I am so glad someone thinks the same things as me. Nowadays our world is so confused and everyone gets offended so easily. I always feel like my opinion is the minority because the media pushes these crazy things on us. But I know there must be many more people who think like us out there! You spoke so many truths in this video that are just facts. I love it!!

Love all of this! As a mother of 2 young sweet boys, it is my most important mission to raise good men. I have a 3 and 1 year old, I do not laugh when people talk about over protective fathers that terrorize the boys that come try to get to know their girls. Spoken as a daughter of a scary dad. I never thought of it that way until I had sons, but like my husband there are truly genuine men out there, my sons will be some of them!

I just want to say thank you for wanting to teach your girls about their bodies in the way you are. I grew up chunky and with acne (and then had two skinny sisters with clear skin) and I don’t remember a time when I wasn’t told to lose weight (literally was told to lose weight before I could date because guys don’t like fat girls 🙃)or felt inferior because of my acne. Even though I have changed my mindset toward myself, some of those thoughts are still there and it has really come out since I got pregnant (I’m 30 weeks pregnant and broke down over gaining a few pounds and sketch marks… which is so normal!!!) Your girls are so blessed to have you as a mama! ❤️

This is a great talking point! I was agreeable until I married my husband and he caused me to rethink my worldview. His disagreeable nature was attractive to me and, especially on a college campus, quite unusual. Before, my main reason for choosing to be agreeable was because I thought that disagreeable=unkind (that was what I was taught). But of course we know that you can disagree in a very kind and respectful manner, while still getting across a very valid point. Trent Horn is an excellent example of how to demonstrate this.

Saving this video for if I have a daughter one day. You made many good points in this video and it unlocked and lit a lightbulb on some things that I struggled with growing up. I'm not going to blame my parents, they did their very best on raising me. Some of which I'll probably use for my future children but I will be taking a much different approach ☺️
