I love your attitude about being thankful for the wiggle room you do have. My parents hit a financial hardship when my mom was pregnant with me. It took them a bit of time to recover. She said she finally had $300 in savings and was so excited only to get hit with a $290 car repair. She said she was so discouraged at first, but then remembered how blessed she was to have that $290. I've tried to carry that story and perspective with me when I can't save as much as I'd like.

Thanks for this video! I really want to start saving for emergencies. New furnace, new roof, etc. you never know when these things could go. I might have missed this in the video but where in your budget does the bc hydro, fortis, property taxes and utilities like water and garbage services come from? Thanks :)

I love your budgeting videos! This was super relatable. I live in Sydney, Australia, where the cost of living is one of the highest in the world, similar to where you live, I believe. I have also been getting a bit stressed about the interest rates changing all the time and having to constantly readjust my budget. But in a way, it’s a bit like a game, or a puzzle, trying to make everything fit into the budget, and I like the challenge.

I’m actually really impressed with how your percentages work out, based on where you live. I have family that lives in that area and they talk like they will never be mortgage free. It’s sad to me! We just paid off our mortgage in October and it’s really great.

I remember your previous video where you had talked about percentages and I had thought it was so cool and quickly went and did the math for our budget as well. I have done a monthly budget for our family many years and hadn't ever thought to figure out percentages.
