Looks like you did a great job with the drainage. Assuming the homeowner doesn't heap dirt on top that gravel the drain will function for a long time.

any reason not to grade the dirt away from the house and a swell against the hill side to redirect the water that come off the hill away from the the house? my thought is the french drain should be the last line of defense

You are correct that would be the ideal scenario. Unfortunately it is all solid rock and the owner did not have the budget for hammering. So we had to go this route. Thanks for watching ! And thanks for the comment!
