Absolutely! Ray clearly has the skillz and work ethic to achieve the work. In no way do i doubt Ray's capability as a business operator. I'm trying to find his new shop so I can spread the word, as I work on my own stuff. I still would only let SouthMainAuto/RainManRay/Pine Hollow Auto diag work in my truck. Anyone else could be a crapshoot, but the abive listed peeps are clearly the top dogs. Oh yeah and: Ferkurl/auto tech mike and dudes with wrenches all also seem to be reliably dedicated to proper repairs.

For all of you viewers: Ray is trying to build a reputable and reliable business and sharing his journey with all of us. That being said, let him do his thing. Don't call the shop or send emails or go to the shop unless you have true intentions of having him service your vehicle. Respect this man's business, the best thing you can do to help him succeed is watch the videos, give them the thumbs up, buy merch, and subscribe. This is one of those situations where "fans" can make or break this venture, not only can you ruin his newly formed company the KZbin career could also be negatively affected as well. Disclaimer: I do not know Ray nor am I affiliated with his channel or anything else. I am just a guy that enjoys his videos and the informative content within and would like to see him succeed and not fail because of the actions of others. Thank you Ray and I wish you good luck on your adventure.

You are so right about being overwhelmed by too many comments and emails, better tell Ray to stop soliciting them. He's shooting himself in the foot he's already had to open a new email as original is out of control, he'll have to hire a full time employee just to manage email, separate the wheat from the chaff so to say.

@@rsmith3062 It is a necessary evil to allow people to email. He is after all using his success on KZbin to build a business. Just the fans need to just use the old email for KZbin related stuff and the shop email be reserved only for booking actual appointments. It's going to be a rough road for him until he gets the balance all figured out. The last thing he needs is the ignorant, disrespectful, privacy invading, self proclaimed superfans making it harder and potentially wrecking both the channel and his shop. KZbin can be just as evil as it is good for creators.

I brought my babies with me when I was setting up my western wear retail stores many moons ago. I was just talking about it with my now adult daughter last night. She actually made the first sale at one of our stores before we were officially open. I let her write up the sales ticket, rang it up on the cash register and run the credit card. It took a little extra time but the customer loved it. She was 4 years old at the time. To your point you're absolutely correct.

If you do add a waiting area to the office I would move the desk further back and put the couch/TV near the door, that way you don't have people behind your desk while they are waiting.

Ray, you can start with a Google Voice number, which is free and you can just run an app on your phone. If you want, you can port that number out at some point if you need a more professional service. Only real drawback is that you cannot send auto responses on that service so if people text, you cannot send an auto response stating you do not accept texts. Otherwise, is a cheap, easy way to instantly get a number set up
@nspro9312 жыл бұрын
You can use the text feature to your advantage. Many customers prefer to communicate via text these days. You can sit down at your computer and type out replies via text when you feel like it. Almost like short email. We even jpeg-ize invoices and text them to some customers.

@@kingofbrutaltheocracy9201 The free personal version works fine for small business. We even have 2 men on the road and a part time bookkeeper and a small office with desk phones and 6 numbers we have accumlated over time. A little kludgey but it's free and it works.

It’s great to see you setting out on this new adventure Ray I’m sure you will very soon have more work than you can handle. As far as the phone line goes as you mentioned asking your wife to work the phone is a good idea but I wouldn’t actually have the phone line at the garage, there will be people out there who will call you trying to get in on the videos you make and it’ll make the filming a nightmare. If people know ahead of time that calling you will in no way interrupt you or stand a chance of making it onto a video then they’re less likely to do it. Once again though Ray I’m wishing you all the success in the world your diligence and work ethic is great to see, if I didn’t live 4000 miles away on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean I’d sure bring my car to you. 😉

Florescent tube lights kind of suck dealing with (in Ca, at least). We've been slowly transitioning to LED replacement fixtures at work, I'm looking forward to never dealing with a box of dead tubes again when we finish. Strong recommendation to consider replacing the whole fixture with a LED setup so you probably never have to worry about them again.

Listen. Everybody please be respectful of this man’s business. Don’t go calling if you don’t need a service done or leaving bad reviews or anything like that. When enough of you do that it’s capable of putting him out of buisness. You know what that means? Ray cannot put food on his family’s table. Can cloth his kids. Can’t pay for his house. Don’t ruin Rays life. Be mature

Suggest putting the main desk in the back of the office room, it could be awkward or potentially unsafe to have strangers behind you/wife/office employees in the future while sitting at the desk. Especially in a shady area. You could also put a wall in between
@robertsymonds12382 жыл бұрын
I agree 100% I work in the IT and whenever possible we have our employees desk at the back of the room where the employee is facing the door so no one can see their data on their computer. It is for data privacy.

If the wife unit is going to be doing the admin side of things in there then she'll be organising the desk/paperwork/office type envornment to her complete satisfaction anyway, so don't make too many plans for that- she'll be able to organise it better than you anyway 😉
@StrongDreamsWaitHere2 жыл бұрын
Potentially, most of the admin could be done from home so the kid units wouldn’t have to be the shop environment all day (cute for a while but ultimately dangerous).
@TheSiriusEnigma2 жыл бұрын
Pro tip: wife unit will organize. Area, duration, details, etc. are NOT something you have control over. Like one of my bosses used to say: “We can talk about it for as long as you need. Provided you agree with me in a reasonable amount of time.”

Hey Ray, I work as a District Manager over convenience stores. When it comes to cash, please invest the money for an electronic bill checker. The pens aren't reliable on the newer bills because most counterfeit bills are on the correct paper. The digital scanners can be bought from any office supply store for $50 and up. It'll test the watermarks and all that jazz. If all else fails, give the collar of the persons shirt a scratch with your nail, you should feel ridges and texture.
