For the love of God can someone explain to me the timing of how to execute this. After inputting standing heavy kick with Morrigan you are suppose to cancel into flight. After you cancel into flight you are suppose to input Light Punch then Heavy Punch then follow up with the staircase inputs. My problem is once i cancel into flight and then press Light Punch, the punch misses, then I cant follow up with Heavy into staircase input. So what is the timing of the inputs because you don't explain the timing in this video. Then there are other times when I press Heavy Kick into Cancel Flight Mode and when I press Light punch afterwards, the light punch doesn't register and the punch doesn't come out at all. So I am guessing its a timing issue on my end. Can ya help me?

I just tried this. If your LP misses, you're not cancelling into flight fast enough. After some practice you should basically do the HK into flight cancel pretty speedy. Do I've actually learnt, the faster you can cancel out from a move to flight, the more room you have to land the hit before they spin out. Just a personal observation on my part really. Practice it a bit more and try and get it down. Personally I found it easier to work with the HK hitting only ONCE before flight cancelling - just to get me used to the timing, then i moved onto letting the HK hit twice before cancelling. 1:28 just in case anyone is coming back to this video almost 4 years later, Thor can do it with power stone. The issue he normally has is that his flight takes so long to activate that no matter what attacks you use before and after, they’ll fall out of the combo. If you use power stone though, you can do an air combo into power stone, fly as they bounce off the wall, and then you have enough time to airdash in, do a light normal, and then rep heavy punch into airdash over and over.

I was contemplating taking this game back because I wasn't ble to do anything advanced in this game and never thought I'd be able to play it at a higher level, and even though you said the staircase isn't advanced when I eventually got it down after hours of practice it was very rewarding. I noticed that timing it to right at the top of your opponent's/victim's ascent had me executing this combo more (with Ultron) and I'm mashing like a proper noob. I also forgot about that subtle light punch just after activating the flight move. Anyone else still struggling with it watch the inputs! GGS.

The word staccato make sense to me now after you said it and demonstrated. Staccato means detached in Italian which to an Italian (musician) mind translates to broken or irregular rhythm. In terms of musical notes on a page. (Atacatto)............ (Staccato) .. .. .. .. .. I'm not a musician or Italian sorry just shared my Eureka moment.

In the sense of rhythm, as he's trying to describe it, means short and punchy. detached from the next beat in the rhythm/combo. like pop-pop-pop. instead of poppoppop

The timing/rhythm is just about the same. The only tricky part for morrigan is to get the fly off to begin with since her timing on the jab to connect is a bit different than the others.

Only thing I did different than default settings was I put dash(lp+hp) on r1, which would be RB if you are on xbox. I find being able to do that with your index finger makes it very easy.

There is a minimum amount of height you need to be in the air before your air dash comes out so keep that in mind! If you mash your dash right as you jump you will just attack, you need to be that certain amount of height off the ground!

her aerial light punch is her fastest attack so that's what you want to use to link it all together. Everyones timings for the flight into connecting combo are slightly different from each other so sadly one size don't fit all.

My understanding of the nova staircase with HK is you simply now have to be that fast(dash hk dash hk dash hk), which is why I have seen almost nobody doing it.

Did not know what a staircase combo was, managed to discover one on day one with Morrigan though, but I press dash fierce dash fierce and not take advantage of the cancel thingy. Wonder if it is better.

If you are fast enough to consistently dash fierce then do what works, as long as you get the damage is what matters.

Its simply timing honestly. Old rule of thumb is: If you hit it and it didn't come out - you were too fast if you hit it and it missed - you were too slow just slowly work and find the middle ground of it. Trust me when I say when you finally get the timing down pat it will stay got!

If you somehow haven’t figured it out in the past year, you don’t actually cancel the flight into light punch. You just push light punch as soon as the “entering flight” animation ends.

I can connect the first two HP attacks in the air but after I cancel into fly they automatically recover and I can’t connect with the LP, am I not canceling it fast enough?

If they are falling out after the fly and you are doing the LP, yes you must do it faster. I notice there is many times where you are doing the timing you "feel" is right, but you gotta do it faster than you are comfortable with.

Its a speed thing, heres the old rule of thumb Move came out, didnt hit - you did it too slow Hit button, but move didn't come out - you did it too fast

r1/RB I find is the best button to have your dash set to on pad. It is what I set the button to when I did it on the combo. Less distance for your hand to travel.

The Dormu shade is real! - Just kidding :D *EDIT - Dormu (Slightly easier version): LAUNCH, lp, hp xx FLY xx lp, hp xx Dash xx hp xx UF+Dash xx hp xx UF+Dash xx hp, fhk, hk(Spike)* (does 4280 damage if done from a raw launch) The key here is to make sure on the first HP after the airdash is hitting them from the bottom while in the air. You'll then start to rise up to meet them as you get the other hp's out. There are variations of this i've seen on streams but that's the gist of it. You can replace some parts out for others, like, adding the 'dash xx hp' before the fly. The window is tighter but you're more likely to hit them successfully when going up and not whiff. For the longest time I was trying this with the literal inputs of uf+dash, hp. Thanks for making this process a *lot* easier for me using the dash button priority feature.

I have LP+HP on a single button. As stated on the video, it allows you to just mash it to get the Dash xx HP cancel just by tapping the same button in rapid succession. I'm still working out what combo will allow me to do the stairway properly. They seem to air-recover if you do it after the usual combo to launcher.

Just to add on to this, there are actually two different staircase combos that Dormammu can do. One is the hp one, and another one that appears to only use fhk. Its just a timing issue, practice it you can get it! Here's the rule of thumb If it didn't come out = you did it too fast If it came out but it missed = you did it too slow Use that metric to find the happy middle!

If the light punch misses, you are simply entering it too slow. Here's the old rule of thumb: - Button missed? Too slow - Button didn't come out, too fast. You gotta find the medium between the two. I find many people generally don't appreciate that they keep entering an input too slow and they have to enter it faster then they are normally comfortable with. I swear to you though once you "get it" it will stay got.

i played magneto in mvc3 so you would think that this would be easy but its extremely tight window to hit the HP air dash sequence after fly that i usually get 2 sometimes 3 before they flip out and see new players on youtube making vids on just mashing and using the priority system to get them to come out lol not taking shit or too you rooflemonger but its jut a little bit frustrating and i needed to vent

Do what works, that's the only thing that matters. I certainly am not mashing there is a very specific rhythm I am following to get the combos. If you have trouble doing it the "right" way who cares just go over to what works.

TAC is a "team aerial combo" and abuse of a glitch of it led to a lot of infinites in MVC3.

Guadalajara Bella IIRC, alot of TAC infinites followed a similar structure of landing a TAC and then following up with a Staircase Combo like in this video, then landing briefly to then jump and start another repetition of the Staircase combo until the opponents character died. So this particular structure of combo was used alot in MvC3 with characters that had Flight/Airdash, and calling it a TAC is just kinda like a nickname or shorthand.

The chun li combo vid I just put up, took me a pretty long time to get :( At least in this game once you get a combo it stays "got". I can burn an hour botching a combo over and over, get it right once, and then I immediately can do it over and over again.

You don't need rhythm, it's literally just a one button mash if you use the button set to both punches. It's kind of funny how optimal these combos are for how easy they are to do.

that jab timing after flight is a bit different for everyone, but easy rule of thumb is simply if you keep missing it, you are doing it too slow. Flights end earlier than you think you just gotta go for that jab faster.
