I do use a Dremel to do some of the work on mine and other small power tools. That said, it is still really fun to make a lure and actually catch fish on it. Great feeling of pride and accomplishment when you reel in that first fish! Thanks for the video (even if it is an older one). Nice thing here is that you could easily fix tooth marks and rips in the lure by heating up the torn tooth mark.

@SolarfallBaits
@SolarfallBaits 5 жыл бұрын
we have talked about several months ago but i havent been able to come up with a good collaboration lure that would be interesting for us to make or for you to watch us make. btw melting down plastic household items like bottle caps, milk jugs or soda bottles etc is not really possible as the plastic they are made from does not really like heat it seems. the few experiments i did so far ended with the plastic turning into vile smelling black goo lol
@NeoHeo
@NeoHeo 5 жыл бұрын
@@SolarfallBaits you have to use plastic marked hdpe or with a recycle triangle marked with a 2 in the middle. Then heat it in the oven at 180 degrees Celsius. It won't melt to a running silicone like material it will be more like a thick dough. You then need to put it in a jig and press it really hard until it cools to make surfaces smooth and to get rid of air bubbles. Use that to press blanks that you can carve like hard wood. I'm on my way to try this, my first try was ok but not good enough to upload on youtube. Maybe soon

You could try and make a normal swim bait by just putting a larg weighted hook in after you make the lure by cutting a slit and then reheating around the area so it bonds around it or by just heating up the hook and then putting it in

Basically you were making the job labor intensive..tools are there for a reason. Just showing off...people want skill sets using immediate results for time saving cost effective pieces. As a professional artist I was disappointed in that you played a game with your video. Just my opinion.an art professor in studio told us not using what was available to us was a bad choice ..every artist chooses their own ways of producing. Your way is a one at a time. Not production for someone making product to share with other fisherman. Skillwise you are up there...production wise you took thinking out of the box backwards.
