I have some of that same tweed yarn, and (at the time) had hoped to make a wonderful winter hat with it. I even made a very pretty leather Flower to pin to the side. Every thing turned out great…the flower, the stitch pattern of the hat, the fit… Unfortunately the yarn itself looks ratty when made into a project. The hat, right from the beginning, looks like a cheap sweater that’s been through a washing machine 1000 times too much. 😅

I noticed that one of the threads you got was branded Corticelli. Corticelli made pattern books for their threads, starting in the 1880's and going into the 1920's. Antique Pattern library has both the Corticelli Kitting and Crochet Book, and Corticelli Lessons in Crochet. You could make a vintage pattern with the actual vintage thread!

Nippon is the name that Japan called itself prior to one of the World Wars, so it’s made in pre-war Japan. Beautiful! It would have been used probably as a finger bowl for washing before or after eating. Wonderful find!

Ok so I worked sample up. I may be wrong but if you go back to directions you will notice that it doesn’t say to pull yarn through two stitches when you pull through the loop. When you just keep pulling yarn through the loop until you have seven stitches on your needle then pull through six (which is not that easy) then through 2 to finish it looks more like the picture. Your puff stitch version is pretty though. When you work the other way you don’t have to skip a stitch

Yes! I just came to say this. I'm working on a Victorian pattern with a very similar puff stitch and they look more like the illustration whereas Corinna's version look more like modern puff stitches

You are correct @donnabeard9344. You just (1) yarn over, put hook through stitch, pull up a loop, (2) yarn over, put hook through stitch, pull up a loop (3) yarn over, put hook through stitch, pull up a loop. Then yarn over, pull thorugh 6 stitches on hook, yarn over, pull through 2 stitches on hook. The puffs are much smaller. 😁

That bowl is so beautiful and delicate. It is Pre-War Japanese. Any china marked "Nippon" is made and imported between 1891 and 1921. It was marked this way due to the McKinley tariff Act, which required all porcelain to be marked with the country of origin. Nippon means Japan. Just a bit of history!

Hi, Love your videos. Those small balls of threads are for tatting and crocheted lace edging. My mother was a skilled lacemaker who made beautiful crocheted and tatted laces for handkerchiefs. She made beautiful doilies and table runners in crochet, tatting and embroidery.She never could read a pattern. She only looked at a picture and could replicate it. Her crocheted lace was made with steel crochet hooks, sizes 12, 13 and 14. I treasure the pieces and tatting shuttles I inherited from her. Thank you for your wonderful videos.

That pattern would make for some really textured and comfy pillow covers for the couch or an accent pillow on the bed. Ya know, make 2 panels, crochet together leaving 1 end open for easy on and off for washing or just changing it out for a different color or pattern case. I thought it was pretty

I absolutely love those fine threads you were gifted. I am a Spaniard and those were the only threads my grandmothers and I ever used (never yarn) to make beatiful doilies, table covers and bed spreads (I inherited 3 full size bedspreads that took my maternal grandmother one year each to make). I also have a large container of fine threads that I will be sure to use up in my remaining years, but will be on the lookout for those treasures from thrift stores.

In the thread that you were gifted, that one that was worked up already. It looks just like the eggs my Grandma would make. She would crochet covers over plastic eggs. Then at Easter she would hang them on a small branch from a bush in her yard.

That puff stitch looks very much like one I used to make a raspberry shaped hat for a granddaughter. I crocheted it a raspberry color and finished off with green bits on top. Very cute, but more importantly, it was thick, so I knew it would be nice and warm.

Supersaver Tweed is my go-to for amigarumi bears. It comes in a few colors and the tweed specks give a fun texture for bear fur. This is a cute stitch! It would make an adorable pillow.

That's a very pretty stitch! I don't think the directions were followed correctly, I didn't see a 'pull through 2 stitches' in the instructions, but that's okay! I'm curious to see it worked without the pulling through 2 stitches, but I like what you did too! In fact, with the right type of yarn, doing the stitches the way you did, I could see it making a very pretty purse!!! Keep those mystery patterns coming!!!

Well, it deserves it. 😂 It looks interesting in the skein, but ratty as a project. Those little colored flecks (the “tweed”) along the yarn will stand out away from the yarn strand when crocheted and look instantly like pilling.😣

I love all those pretty thin threads you got in the mail. I can barely find size 10 where I am. If I do find it the color choice is fairly limited. Don't even start talking size 15 and 20. 15 I can only get in white and natural and 20 only in white. And the stock is small quantitywise too, cause almost nobody buys these really thin sizes. I'd love to have thinner crochet threads for delicate work.

That was so wrong it made me want to cry. You were making 6treble clusters (or 6US DC clusters) but if you read the instruction you should be doing a 3 half treble/half double cluster and, if you do, it looks like the illustration. I tested it while watching the video...
