You're supposed to carry a 1911, "cocked and locked." One in the chamber, hammer cocked, safety on. It isn't supposed to be decocked like a DASA. That being said, It's certainly not what I would choose these days. I feel your pain with the 3rd Gen Smith. I have a 4006. Sweet pistol, but I don't want to overuse an out-of-production pistol by carrying it every day. (And like you said, an all metal handgun is less than ideal for carry anyway.)

You won't be wearing down anything more than the finish by carrying even an out of production handgun. There are places online where you can order NOS or even sometimes reproduction parts for whatever might be liable to breakage (Numrich comes to mind). You'll only need to worry about overuse if you don't clean it or if you have a firing schedule on par with the military. Carry what you like, as long as it ain't some experimental prototype you'll be fine.

I carry a Glock 22 180grn Speer gold dot 15 rounds in the mag +1 in the chamber and 2 to 5 spare mags. Depending where I’m traveling to. I use to carry the HK USP .40 but it only carries 13 +1 and was actually less accurate then my Glock….both were duty firearms, 19.5 yers Sheriffs Dep. Retired. P.S. I carry all the time even when frying eggs because you don’t have time to think when someone kicks in your door while in the kitchen. I’ve carried concealed all type of handguns and it comes down to what your proficient and confident with and can you make your hits and carry enough ammo to neutralize the threat.

Decent holster: it’s one that allows you to reholster the weapon with one hand. For social work you don’t need a light or a rds, you don’t need to appendix carry. You do need the basic skill to draw, fire and hit inside a 5 inch circle at 10 yards.

Great video! Love you branching out… keep it up! .380 is fine in my opinion if you practice. If three dudes run up on you with Glock 19s you’re outgunned no matter what you carry. The old adage a .380 in your pocket is better than a .45 in your night stand is probably the most true statement when it comes to ccw. I carry a S&W bodyguard.380 when alone and my Shield 40 when out with the fam.

Even in my California beach town the motorcycle traffic police are armed with a full up M4 carbine which is secured in a cage welded to the bike’s chassis. I like open and conceal carrying a 357, 92fs I've got a pocket gun as well. I like carrying two handguns, 8 ten round mags, three knifes and 4 inch dowel. I've got a Filipino escrima/Kali knife and muay thai kickboxing background. Like yea limon, I just like having extra tools in the toolbox at my hand and I get a rush at any type of fighting.

Who are some good KZbinrs for knowledge on knife fighting and Muay Thai that you can recommend? I was always more into boxing although this guy who was a marine and then a soldier at my boxing gym back in the day showed us some cool Muay Thai stuff. If you aren’t familiar with them for boxing KZbinrs with no bs solid info I recommend Ross Enamait and Tony Jeffries. Dewey Cooper (Francis Ngannou and Cris Cyborg’s striking coach) is good too but he doesn’t have as much content out online as those dudes but he’s literally trainer of some of the best pro mma fighters in the World.

Great video and I really wanted to emphasize the point you made about not using a pimped out bougie competition gun for self defense. Lawyers will use aftermarket triggers and anything personalized on your weapon against you in a court setting, so on that matter, i normally recommend keeping self defense guns as stock as possible. Also, the price matters as well, since the cops will take your gun for evidence and it's very difficult to get back, so I'd rather have them confiscate my $200-500 gun rather than my $2-3k custom build 2011 or 1911. Regarding 1911s, nornally they are carried cocked and locked, aka cocked back and safety on with one in the pipe.

I have my Glock 43X I take with me, great Conceal gun when I half to drive into Baltimore even though Maryland has a retreat law and hopefully you never get in a situation that your life is in extreme danger so unfortunately I only go into Baltimore for Dr. Visits & other important things, Baltimore was never this bad at one time. My 43X came with two 10 round Magazine's and I drove up to Pennsylvania to pick up a couple of 15 round Magazine's to practice at the range.

I bought a Glock 43 when they were first released. Upgraded to a 48 frame with shield mags when they dropped so now a 43x. Lastly, added a pmm comp and barrel because it worked well with gold dot. Rides in a crossbreed mini tuck at 4:00 because fuck appendix. That’s about 9 years of evolution but that rusty old turd is loyal.

I carry a P99 with 2 spare 15 and 21 round magazines loaded with Hornady critical duty. A polymer double stack is the obvious choice for a carry pistol. hamer fired steel frame double stacks are also workable. there is no good reason to carry some old surplus range toy for serious use unless you inhereted it and it is the only gun you have and you don’t have money to buy another as well. In that case you can justifiably carry the makarov for self defence.

Not just talking shit but if your pistol is just to get to your shotgun in the closet why not just put the shotgun next to the bed? For me the only things that matter with a pistol is its reliable/safe, the type of ammo (a good hollow point)and that it’s 9mm. If you're "getting rolled by 3 guys with Glocks" and they're determined and not running away, you are outgunned even with a rifle my man. The only consistent carry is pocket, 11 ounces or less, anything else is fantasy. My subcompact 9 rarely sees the holster compared to my j-frame or P32. Just the facts as I see it.
