Owen, your explanation about the formula/ingredient change is correct.

I agree at 13:00, Mach 1 Cannibals are absolutely fantastic. I'm 165lbs and I feel they had a bit more edge grip over 76a Mags for me. Unfortunately they're pretty hard to find now, idk if they still pour new batches. Some Gallo24 cannies would probably slay.
@razvanvlad53604 ай бұрын
I feel like what you experienced with older mags as being grippier is purely due to oxidizing (yellowing) of the urethane. Every time I get the mags wet they get that yellow layer and until i wear it off the wheel feels wrong
@owencampbell7774 ай бұрын
That’s extremely possible, but I also have enough experiences riding other people’s Mags that I still can’t shake my suspicion

Good stuff! Was hoping for a comparison with the golden ones. Maybe later! Im cutting the lip to get to center set. It's even more forgiving and wears out better. strangely works also with swirled sets!

Having such catastrophic failure in a wheel is just wild. Half the lip gone, wth? I get that it might be a trade off for the ultimate race wheel but it's not very consumer friendly.

I still get confused when people say these wheels (remember that brand?) because those wheels are venoms 😂

Oh yeah, the most confusing brand name ever invented. Maybe it’s genius

i heard venom is not a very serious company, they like, basement, student dorm based.. not really that professional as some other players in the market, so when you say they can't even control their formula or "ingredients", it just makes sense.
@RatBürgerSk84 ай бұрын
Nah man you got it twisted. Zak started Venom in his garage in like 2009, pouring bushings by hand. But everything now is outsourced to factories since like 2010. They are ultimately at the whim of the factory if ingredients change. Companies that pour in-house like Powell have less of these issues, but pouring in house is not financially viable for the low volume longboard wheel sales.

I think your story is wrong. AFAIK old mag formula was just Reflex Formula. Im not sure how you can lose that.
@RatBürgerSk84 ай бұрын
If it's just reflex formula why do mags not slide like absolute garbage? Highly doubt that's the origin.

@@RatBürgerSk8 Reflex slides fine on a lot of pavements
@RatBürgerSk84 ай бұрын
@@stevensutin2789I couldn't get pink 77a reflex to slide clean at all, even without skin they just bounce and honk the whole time. It's a stark difference to 76a mags which feel smooth and predictable. I'd love to be proven wrong with tangible evidence but I haven't experienced notable similarities between the two.

A mix of Reflex and Cannie formula. One of the ingredients for one of these changed from manufacterer.
