Its unbelievable how high in price it has become. Unfortunately, it has forced me to rip 4ks and blu rays onto my NAS. No chance I'm able to keep paying 4k blu rays at these prices.

Everything should come down in price in 2025 once we start drilling. Gas prices is what effects delivery and when that goes up it effects everything.

I think in the UK we buy more physical media compared to other populations across the world. Vinyl record sales are still very high in the UK compared to the rest of the world.

That Never Ending Story 4k from Imprint cost me the same amount as a cheap car. Imprint prices are out of this world. But that movie means so much to me as a kid, that I had to have it. I wanted A Bridge Too Far on 4k, but I could not justify the cost of both movies. With the cost of 4k you were talking about - the way I justify buying 4k is that this format is the last dance for me. I will never go to 8k, because I can't see the difference between 4k and 8k. Upgrading to 4k my movie collection is the last time I'm doing it. And if a movie did not emotional connect to me, I will not buy it. The old blu-rays I sell to keep the cost down.

@wil89098 I’m with you on 4K being the last dance. I don’t think there is enough of a noticeable difference and to upgrade everything to do it. It’s like with video games where the improvements don’t justify the price. I will always make exceptions too if the movie meant something to me.

Yo! I walked in TARGET on Saturday looking for movies since I saw they sell them online and no movies in the whole store! I asked workers and they didn't know if they carried it. The I don't know I just work here answer.

The cause is lack of attendance at the movie theaters, so studios are forced to up-charge for streaming and physical media. Also, a lack of competition due to certain brick and mortar stores not selling movies anymore.

Hey some are priced right some are dear but if you want it and its limited you have a choice to make. Deadpool & Wolverine 4k/steelbook seems to be an american issue, priced at £40-45 here . Want an exclusive, Se7en coming in 2 versions Jan 7 Reindeer Games January 14th.

a limited collectors edition is understandable and usually they give you more to justify the price where as the main studios don’t. You’re right about Deadpool’s steelbook. I can’t explain why it was cheaper there but not in the US. I head other regions it was even higher then it was here.

Yes, the prices for 4k movies are sky high. As a Blu-ray collector , the prices that I've seen are baffling. Because of that , I tend to get stuff when there's sales

Right before I watched your video I saw that the standard edition Blu-ray for The Penguin is up for pre order on amazon for $32.99. That's crazy to me that an 8 episode, probably two disc set is that much. With the way pre order prices haven't been dropping closer to release dates anymore who knows if that will get cheaper. It should be around the $24.99 price point. It sucks but I'm getting priced out of a lot of stuff this last year and with no really good sales anymore it's hard to catch up. I'm not really a special packaging collector either. Unless it's something I love I usually by the standard edition cause I just want the movie. I have to be really selective with what I get nowadays too. Like you said it's becoming like vinyl's now. The movie lovers are getting priced out by collector prices.

Exactly! I’m like you. Unless it’s something spectacular I don’t need premium packaging. I just want the movie in the best form. But even the standard packaging is expensive now. They’re trying to make up money somewhere but you’re trying to take that money from your biggest supporters and that sucks. $32.99 for a blu ray of an 8 episode show is absurd.

Gruv has a 3 for $30 sale going on right now but it's the exact same titles they always put up for the sale. We still have like a week and a half before actual Black Friday so I'm sure more deals will come. I'm hoping to see a decent price on The new Ghostbusters and Deadpool movies. Those are the only two that I really want that I don't have yet......well I'd like to pick up Terminator as well but I don't see that going on sale quite yet.

Anything more than 40 for a combo pack that isn't a boutique label is outrageous. 65 for Willow is just absurd. The Mando season 3 and Ahsoka being just being 4K discs is the most absurd thing of all. Never mind the prices, Sky high.

WB releases have become really *bleepy* for the U.S. in the last two years. New catalog releases they only give 4K disk releases in the U.S. while international gets 4K disk + Blu Ray disk combos They aren't even doing slip covers for the Blu Ray releases now of new films. Only 4k gets a slip cover. One thing I do like about boutique labels is that they usually include or make available the Blu Ray copy (not always if their is a rights issue like the recent Arrow Friday The 13th 2009) and the Blu Ray disk is almost always upgraded/remastered. International overall get the better physical releases vs the U.S. but importing all the time is just not practical/possible for me due to the way I purchase my physical media .I can do it once in a while if it's something I really want and there is no other way plus they need to be region free disks but the last time I did that was in 2019 until now being forced to with the latest Disney + releases. Speaking of, I'm still extremely angry what Sony/Disney did with the third wave of Disney + shows in the U.S. They have always been 4K disk + Blu Ray disk. But for some inane stupid reason, the U.S. got separate 4k disk and Blu Ray disk releases and now they decided to drop the Blu Ray releases due to lower sales. If these stupid idiots has just done combo releases like they do with the international releases for the Disney + shows, they wouldn't of lost money to begin with on the standalone Blu Ray releases. They would of got all the potential consumers to buy the combo packs. Now they lose the BD only users on the standalone Bly Ray release because they aren't doing it this time and they don't get them for the standalone 4K release because we can't play the 4K disks. If we really want these shows, we'll just import them instead. And the consumers who like having both formats will most likely just import them too since you get both formats together in the international releases. Again, Sony/Disney are stupid *bleeping* idiots. As it is, the reason importing is a bad option for me and why I do it so rarely is because you have to use a credit card to order international releases. As I've said many times, I buy my physical media with gift cards. I use my cash and buy the gift cards to pay for the movies/TV shows at the big retailers. My credit cards are reserved for more important things. If I have to use a gift card, I have to wait until I have a free card or one where I'm not going to be putting much on.I haven't pre-ordered the new Disney = steelbooks yet because my credit cards are in always in use for groceries/gas and things like that but I couldn't get one free right now because I also has a bunch of prescriptions I needed to re-fill and my car was due for its oil and lube. That type of thing comes first over buying physical media. I'll finally have some free charge cards starting next week. With that said, I've decided to hold off a little longer and not order any of them until after the new year.The international releases are staggered releases where in the U.S. they all come out 12/3.The Marvel shows come out in mid and late January and the Star Wars releases are mid and late February. Since I don't expect or have seen them selling out anywhere, I'm going to wait to see an unboxing video to make sure these are still combo packs. The U.K. release of Hawkeye is January 13th.Once I'm 100% sure these are still combo packs and region free Blu Ray disks(they've always have been in the past but who knows if that changes here),I'll order all four releases from either Amazon U.K. who I've used in the past or Zavvi U.S. (who I've never used before). Christ though, I don't want to have to continue to import to get the Disney + shows going forward though. I'm hoping Bill Hunt's speculation from the Digital Bits pans out. He speculated that Sony/Disney may still do Blu Ray releases in the U.S. later in 2025 and they just wanted to get the 4ks out for the holidays .I'm not holding my breath though given the reason they dropped the Blu Ray releases in the U.S. according to him is low sales on the Blu Ray steelbooks. If that's the reason then why would they even bother with doing them next year instead of now? That's why us consumers need to be careful or understand something relating to the second half of the video. Yes ,speak with our wallets if we don't like the current prices but we need to keep in mind that the studios may get the wrong message from us. If we don't buy for whatever reason like higher prices, the studios may decided to not release the product at all. That seems to be why Sony/Disney dropped the Blu Ray releases this time. Remember, they want consumers to dropped physical and go to digital and streaming only. Us no longer buying due to price is the reason they are looking for to force that on us.. So we all need to aware of that. Buy within our budget but understand if too many stop buying ,they'll stop producing .Us BD fans are now living that with the third wave of Disney + releases here in the U.S.

You’re absolutely right about what you said in your last paragraph and honestly it puts us in a tough spot. Because yeah we speak with our wallets but then like you said we just won’t get them at all. It’s like picking a fight but either way you’ll loose something. I feel like supporting the boutique labels is always the best and you laid out many reasons why they usually take care of the consumers before any of the major labels do. so truly don’t know what is the right path. I don’t want to ever loose theaters and physical media but I also want to be able to afford it.

They either are trying to make up money for their losses and feel like they can make these for cheap and sell them high. The theater and streaming losses are probably being picked up a little by us.
