In this video I’m trying out the Kuretake Gansai Tambi art nouveau set. This has been a hard pallet to find for the last few months but I was lucky enough to find one. I’ve been keen to try it as I already use Gansai paint and the colours looked like ones I already like to work with if you are invested in the pallet then try amazon as that’s where I managed to get mine.
I have been curious to try this set as I use Gansai quite regularly for my work and I have worked with kuretake Gansai a lot in the past. The colours in this set are inspired by the art nouveau movement and have an overall muted pastel look. Although this is probably not then best pallet for mixing, I thought it would be fun to try out.
I paint an illustration at the end to test and demo the paints. I also used and some coloured pencils.
Supplies used for the illustration are…
• Kuretake GANSAI TAMBI art nouveau set
• Choosing Keeping Retro Watercolour Set, 1970's
• ARCHES Watercolour Hot Pressed
• A mix of coloured pencils

Very interesting to see these paints used in such a detailed way. My process of mark making intuitive art using them is completely different and very loose. It‘s such a versatile set of paints, it‘s a shame they are hard to find. I have heard they are expected back in stock in July. But the regular 48 set and 36 set of colors are easy enough to source, and are so interesting and vibrant to paint with, I do recommend them too.

Thank you so much! Yes, they are very handy paints to have I rely like them for layering but it’s nice how well they wash out. It would be nice to try them in a looser way one time mark making looks like allot of fun! Thanks for the recommendation I will have to have a look in to them! :)

You won't regret it I promise. I work in all mediums as I love to add irredddcent colours over the top of fairy & dragonfly. The inktense blocks came down on my Amazon in Australia to $77 so I snapped them up. As you would know the 72 pencil (outliner thats just a normal graphite pencil )well the blocks are sometimes go down in price and if activating them you will see that the blocks are actually has 72 blocks and it's a purple which is not in the pencil set. Thank you for your quick response to my query. I appreciated seeing you work using Gamsai, more to come I hope. Much love &virtual hugs* xxx from Perth Western Australia xxx

Watching you do that painting was amazing and exceptional as well. What masking fluid were you using. Your precise brushwork was amazing and I watched and learned and liked and subbed. More please. I didn't realise initially you were adding masking fluid. I have the old 48 set of keritake Gamsai Tambi and I adore them. I love the shine & the almost instantaneous activation, especially when used thickly it is almost like gouache & I love that too. I also own the starry night and gem colours by them. I don't have your set or the opal colours but they are by far beautiful paint with rich colour rarther drying faded like normal watercolour usually does. Please make the video you suggested. I was enthralled at the way your hand dances when making the bird and bat. Amazing!!!! Much love & *Virtual hugs* from Perth Western Australia xxx Your newest sub ❤

@@washedoutwyvern do u have any laquers or gel (like mod podge) that gives a picture a shiny feel. I have the ranger glossy but I use it mainly for eyes as they pop from a page. I saw a YT channel and they couldn't remember the name as it had already been thrown away. I just want a glossy top coat for a few of my pictures? Sorry for asking too many questions.

Hello! its arches hot press watercolour paper. I like it for final paintings because it can take a lot of layering, it’s a bit pricy but I think its worth a try if our looking for something sturdy. The cold press is good too if you like a more textured paper

Your illustrations are stunning beyond words, you should illustrate children’s books, I’ll be your first customer! They’d also be great for Oracle/Tarot decks! Even your bird series could be used to make something smart like Bird field book for kids with cute snippets about each species, my 5 years old would go crazy with it! Heck, even just a printed poster of local birds, it’d sell like hot buns I’m sure!
