@@jdrums5555 interesting, where did you get them? I ask because all of mine are universal. They are absolutely 100% compatible with all of the launchers. Also, there’s a black washer that floats on the outside of that spring. Make sure that that washer does not bind up when you reinstall the new spring. If it does, it will cause issues.

I did this same mod on my PPQ about a month back and it made a big difference in fps. Now I upgraded to aluminum 1.8 grams with this mod and keep it in my car. Thanks again for all of your great content

That worked great; now my Umarex T4E is a bit louder. I also lubed and ran the spring-loaded orange slide in the magazine quickly up and down about twenty-five times. This procedure will take some of the orange paint off. Otherwise, it could get hung up near the top. I also coated the 8 rubber-steel balls with a small amount of silicon lube before putting them in the magazine. If you have the time, please also give that a try with your meter. Thanks! 😁😁

Hi Jon, I think I another way to increase power, first remove the loading spring that pushes the ammo up,, then separate the silver part from the black metal part of the mag, via the two knock out pins, near the joint, once the two parts are separated, you will find the needle point and a mesh round restrictor/filter, it’s hard, but put a 3 to 4 mill hole in the Centre of the mesh, also I used a 1.5/2mm drill bit to slightly open the pin hole, I don’t have a chrono, but mine now, sounds a lot louder and shoots with more power,,, by the way mine is a T4E TPM1, but it uses the same type mag.

@@AlternateArmsSD Also, I know it's a bit belated... Welcome to the airsoft world. I recently went the other way and jumped in to the fire arms world a few months ago. There's actually a lot of overlap and a lot that each world can learn from one another. For me, airsoft teaches tactical moving and positioning, and is a great tool that teaches dry fire and manual of arms. My first real 1911 feels, handles, and takedowns just like the airsoft one. Keep it up!

The valve cap on my stock ppq mag was gorilla'd on and I was afraid I would break my heavy duty snap ring pliers. Had to 3d print a tool (and shove in 2 pins) to remove it. The print ended up cracking too, but it worked!

the spring is holding the valve open longer to allow more air to come out, the older spring, which had more tension closed the valve sooner, ingenious. think I am going to be hitting you up for some quick piercing mags for my ppq, and maybe even buy one from you, with modded qp mags, ( two are better than one), do they also have quick piercing mags for the m&p?

So you know that hole on the right of the T4E clip? Put a 3d printed rubber boot in it to make the chamber more airtight. I bet it would go great with the spring mod if you could pressurize the angle for the round to eject by force of pressure. Would make a more loud popping sound as the round gets forced out of the boot in the rounds chamber of the clip.

Really cool so a softer spring makes difference you should make a extension that looks like a clip...or small magwell that would fit over the quick piercing valve for the bottom of the Walther and the Glock 💡not like Im telling you what to do but I seen the Byna SD with the 14 round mag and it gave me an ideal

What was the weight of the projectiles you were shooting during the tests? Canadian law states that it must not shoot above 5.7 joules.

Yeah, I know the Canadian laws are pretty stiff. Typically when I’m testing these are around 2.1 g depending on the manufacture of the rounds. Generally speaking, after the mod you’re going to see between seven and nine Joules.

Hoow do you remove a cannister that still contains gas from the Glock 17 t4e Gen 5 .43?.

You can dry fire it. Just hold down the catch lever on the left-hand side and continue to pull the trigger until all of the gas is expended. Remember, after it seems like it’s totally expended, though, you may still have some in there and you’ll have to charge the weapon fired again. When it’s low enough, you can just twist the handle on the bottom of the magazine and release the pressure.

Very useful video! Thinking about getting a S&W for my daughter before she goes off to college, so I've been watching all of your videos to figure out if that's the best choice. I was wondering if you could do another comparison with a modified mag vs the stock mag to (A.) see how many total shots you get out of the modified vs stock mags, and (B.) to check how much longer the stock mag maintains the fps (including through a reload if there's any pressure left). Absolutely. The stock magazines you’re going to get between 20 to 24 good shots per CO2 cartridge. After the mod, you’re going to get between 8 to 10 shots. However, you’re not really going to reload this in mid combat, so you really want full power out with the first round. The truth is, they should have all come modded like that :-)

The Glock 17 Gen 5 .43 cal is going for about 5 Joule. The 20% performance boost means we're now at 6 Joule, which is still below the 7.5 Joule mark. You may want to ensure that you are still complying with your country's weapon law regulations, otherwise this little mod might get you in serious trouble. You better dodge that bullet!

Hmmmmm Well, the S&W seems fire a bit harder out of the box but I do like the design and options for the grip included with the HK but the lever mag release takes a bit to get used to. Either way, mod the springs for sure. I am modding every launcher I sell . They really should have come from the factory that way.

Well, unfortunately you’re pretty limited with the upgrades. You can actually do to this launcher at this time. You might be able to get 450, but only with an extremely light round. However, there are some folks working on hammer spring modification at my app a little more power.

[I edited this comment 11/26/23 to prevent confusion] I bought an Umarex S&W .43 on eBay that was already upgraded with a spring. I'm NOT SURE if it was this exact same spring or not. However: I had the spring go "sideways" and get trapped between the firing pin and valve body. Thus it simply dumped the entire CO2 charge on first trigger pull. I pulled it apart to inspect. The Issue is that the upgraded spring is a slightly larger diameter. It looks like it needs a washer to make sure that it does it get out of position

@@AlternateArmsSD I bought a used S&W M&P9 on eBay that came 'with upgrade spring installed' but now that I looked closely at all the paperwork, it doesn't actually say where the spring came from. I don't want to spread any false info, so I'll delete my comment. When I get a moment I will buy one of the 'genuine' airfunner springs to compare the size. Also I don't know how many rounds have been fired through this gun, maybe it has some extra wear on the moving parts? I did have to replace the mag release spring (though I understand that's a pretty common failure on the S&W). Great channel content as always, thanks for all you do.

Alas, no. The T4E line are all very close in trigger pull. You might look at an HDP50 or HDP50 compact if you’re looking to stay in that size range.

Greetings! I am testing using standard 1.9Gram rubber/steel balls generally. You are gaining about %20 power using this spring. These are a MUST if you use these for self defense.

You will never get 800-900 out of a T4E launcher. If you use these for self defense, you need to use a high quality pepperball.

Sure. Generally 1.8-2.6g is where I stay on these. As you get heavier, you lose velocity. There’s definitely a sweet spot in a point of diminishing returns.

There are a couple of other modifications that folks are working on. One of them was actually widening that valve chamber a tiny bit, but I think that you wouldn’t receive enough of a benefit for all the trouble.

@@jordanzinn9277 not directly, you might just wanna search and see what you can find on the particular models. Honestly, brother, if you’re looking for something with real stopping power, you want to get away from the T4E launchers. Look at the hdp50, tr50s, HDR68, or Mercury rise torpedo revolver. All of them, stock out of the box, have considerably more power than the T4E launchers and can be modified to FAR more power easily.
