@@michaelowen1750 Given how long it sat, it likely has high sulfur diesel. Fuel could be clean and good after all that time if there was no water in it. Pre-06 off-road diesel had a shit ton of sulfur which would keep anything from growing in it. Modern low sulfur (500ppm) and ultra low (15) is shit for lasting, the old stuff was 3000+ppm.

A good barn find always makes me a little sad, and a little joyful. Those pieces of equipment represent the life of someone no longer with us. It's heart warming to see a piece of that person's life not only spring back to life itself, but to also be able to provide joy to a new owner.

Wonderful memories, many thanks for posting. Early 1970’s in Sydney, Australia constructing Housing Sub-Divisions and general civil works. Cat 941 and 951 doing the job. Drainage trenches by Jackhammer and boodlier 😅 An old six stick Fordson backhoe if the ground was soft enough. And a Cat 212 with a pilot motor plus 12E cat grader. McDonald steel drum roller, other that the plant mentioned we had and used daily the always reliable “shovel and pick”. Trainee Civil Engineer, we had to learn everything from the shovel to surveying. Loved every day, week and years. Cherry on top was the wonderful smell of the Emulsion as the tar and gravel was spread at the competition of each job. Fantastic channel best wishes 👍🍺🍺🍺🙏🏼

Sears used to be a mail order place then became a brick and mortar store when people wanted buy in person. Now amazon type shopping is back in favor. People used to get the latest and greatest cell phones that smaller than the last generation only to change the norm to buying the one with the largest screen. The track loaders used to be on every construction site but fell out of favor for the much smaller skid steers. Over the years the skid steers got bigger and took on rubber tracks and now the old track loaders seem to be more and more popular again. I think Justin got the better deal.

Great machine for a small grading contractor. I work 10 years for a contractor that had one. Ran it, fixed it, serviced it. All around a good machine. Never had a serious brake down, just minor leaks here and there. Good find! Just a note on the bucket control. It would seem like bucket control it is backwards, and threw me off at first. This machine is meant for loading, so with that in mind, it is convenient after digging into a pile, to pull back on the lift control and raise the bucket. As you get to the dump truck, you can also pull back on the bucket control to start dumping the bucket.
