I’m just 10 minutes into the video Chris, but just have to say I don’t know who is having more fun, you with that glimmer in your eyes or Betty that you dressed her up and took her to the dance. You are very proud of her, and rightly so. She is living proof that us seniors still have something to contribute. I know she cost you a bundle of $$$ at the beginning, but she was worth every dime. She didn’t even break a sweat, have fun buddy.

When I worked in Alaska we'd have forest fires in the Fall when conditions were right. They would chase the firefighters around until the snow fell. In Spring they would pop right back up, months later. Snow still melting and some areas smoking again. Amazing.

When I see this I think of our ancestors who received a tract of land in the new world that was completely forested. With little tools they cleared and burned using only hand tools all the while still having to produce food and shelter. Incredible men and women.

I love Betty, I wish you would come out with a shirt that has a pic of Betty on it, a Cat 955k was the first piece of equipment I ever ran, I learned how to grade, bulk, and cut in basements with one so track loaders in general hold a very special place in my heart but when I watch Betty it brings back so many memories, thanks for keeping her alive Chris

You can get a nice big scoop with thing being on tracks. The new wheel loaders just don’t seem to have enough behind them to really dig in and push into a pile. They get the job done though and very comfortably at that. I love the direction switches on the joysticks.

Fun fact: Every machine in this video is pre-DEF, and pre 2000. The truck is like a 98 or 99. Betty is early 80s or late 70s. The D6 is an 84 if I remember right. Nice to see old equipment well maintained and getting work done.

Curious, when dumping with Betty that you don't open the lower jaw, which to me looks like it would dump faster with less bucket curl-down. Know I'll never get a chance to try that out to see how it might work. Great to ride along on the dump truck, as well as watch Betty and the others doing some work on the farm. Thanks for taking us along.
@andreask87
@andreask87 Жыл бұрын
Would be interesting to see if the hydraulics are strong enough for that, because the weight of the material in the bucket is usually working against opening it. Additionally the tilt cylinders on the bucket are quite small, opening uses the smaller rod-side of the piston and the lever-ratio from cylinder anchor point to the base of the bucket is pretty large.

Ol Betty will find those soft spots for sure. But I am sure she enjoyed the exercise she got. Speaking of added saying hot, that why forest fires are so difficult to extinguish. All it takes is one little spot left to smolder and its going again. Too bad that Betty doesn't have a bigger bucket, but then again, she probably would have sunk up to the top of the radiator, when you found the soft spot.

Chris fields need three things nitrogen is one lime and potash are the other two a soil test is short money up here in NH they lime with a 10 wheeler with a spreader on the back. You could do it your self with your tractor and a spreader. Your local farm supply can do the math on how much you would need. If you hit that with lime and a triple 15 that grass would green up and grow like wild fire Thats how I take care of my fields Good luck

Chris I would like to see you try doing something different with the 4-1 when final grading if you don’t mind trying. Place your bucket flat on the ground then open your clam up just 3-4 or even 4-5 inches and grade with it like that. You will have a low more control than with your clam wide open
