Chris you should build a ramp out of dirt, on your farm, so you back the trailer to and load your machines easily when they are all wet. I think you have the technology.
@4Classie
@4Classie Ай бұрын
Yea' just use a few concrete highway dividers, surrounded by dirt then grass or gravel, and never have suspended loads on forklift loading or unloading, just drive-in or drive-off and drive-off _ and level access for all equipment, to never need ramps when at home or from any Shop ( do same at Shops whenever possible ) Elementary' old world technology !

Quite a workout for the D7 to make a 5ft cut and 5ft fill at 200ft of pushing. But you're making the machine work efficiently. It'll be like the snap of your fingers and suddenly "wham", done! Thanks for the video, made me remember why I decided to retire 3yrs early.

It's friggen' incredible that it's 20/25 degrees hotter up in Chris's are than here in Homestead florida just above the 18 mile streach to the Florida Keys. Most of the eastern U.S. is hotter than we are. At least we have an average 15 knot wind blowing in off the Atlantic ocea. It definitely makes it more livable down here. I would be surprised if Chris is guzzling a couple gallons of water a day or more to stay hydrated.

Fantastic workhorse. Moves dirt with ease, great investment Chris. Made back when reliability was dominant, now days with all the government regulations heavy equipment is crippled by one little thing or another, occasionally sometimes making them critically inept. Long live raw horsepower.

Love watching the D7 do what it was designed for. Only thing that would make it a little bit better would be a carry blade like Mike's 850. It's obvious that ground is very hard and compacted. The job just wouldn't be quiet big enough for the truck and excavator process. But almost a long push for a dozer. I think you have a great piece of equipment in the D7. Shame you don't have a cab with ac.

Some jobs are just made easier and faster by a bigger machine. Which falls right in with "No replacement for displacement". On top of which to fire off that quick and reliabily, for sure the D7 was an excellent addition to the fleet. Even if it's a "ambient contions cab" machine. Still better and more reliable than many newer pieces.

You just can’t beat old reliable iron. Life was good for all the equipment manufacturers until the government had to stick their nose in it. The one thing I do see on the D7 is it acts like the blade needs to be tipped forward a little more. The dirt isn’t rolling like it should. It’s just stacking up in front of the blade

How to make your measurements easier and more reliable than measure adjust, measure adjust. You will use Pythagorean theorem and solving for systems of equations. It sounds high class but it's just shop math. Let's solve for your situation here, let 10cm = 100ft, you can use inches but you will need a tabletop. The 'Thagster said that a^2 + b^2 = c^2 so 10cm^2 + 10cm^2 = 200cm solve for the square of that and you get 14.142cm. Now pick a starting point and go 10cm from there and go out 10cm staying close to your reference, in this case you had a fence line as a reference to help your line stay straight. From your first point go out 14.142cm and dot an arc then go to your second point that is 10cm from your first point and go out 10cm towards the 14cm arc and start dotting another arc. There is only one point that will land on the intersection of both arcs. Well there is only one that will make any sense. You can now use this method to locate the other corners of any building footprint, and you will never need to measure and adjust again.
