The way I used to resaw 2X lumber would be taking a sawzall with a very chunky blade on it running it vertical and going back and forth across the lumber until it was all roughed up. That also helped it kind of look almost like the original which was much wider almost a complete two inches to the inch-and-a-half they give you now.. And resaw this Way takes a good quarter inch + more off that piece of wood. Assuming both sides and the edges are being done. Which is for exposed rafter tails is what I used to use these for

It took digging through the entire stack of 2x4's, yes I am one of those guys, but I did put everything back nicely, so nicely someone thought I was a HD worker and was asking where something was located in the store... LoL 😯

What blade thickness and teeth count do you use for this? 3/4 inch? 3 TPI?
@LetsDoThis3219 ай бұрын
It's the Laguna 3/4" wide resaw king variable 2-3 TPI

Feed half, flip over, feed other half, much safer!!

Maybe it looked with the angle of the camera made it look more risky idk. These were pretty easy smooth cuts, cut like butter, ended up cutting 10 like this, I was not out of my comfort zone at all. But yeah best to work in your comfort zone, be sure to shut off the saw and let it go to a full stop before backing out half a 2x4. With it running there is high high risk of pulling the saw blade off the wheels causing catastrophic damage and potential injuries. Cheers and thanks for watching!

Why are those 2*4 not square to start with. A 2*4 is already 1.5*3.5
@LetsDoThis321 Жыл бұрын
Maybe it's a safety thing?? Less injuries with 2x4 with rounded edges out in the construction field. Since they are generally used for house building and not fine woodworking. For this specific cut I did I needed a piece of wood that was 1.25" thick one side square and one side rounded edged, so slicing off this bit was perfect for my project. the thin piece I cut up a bunch of shapes for the kids to paint hearts, pumpkins, ghosts, etc... they love-em!!

Is this realtime or sped up?
@LetsDoThis3213 ай бұрын
Sped up 3x, if you look in the bottom corner it shows "FF>>3x". Looks like it's blocked a bit by text overlay. Real time it took about 54 seconds. I posted the real time one a long time back and it got no views so I deleted it.

@@LetsDoThis321 I see I see I just bought a Bandsaw mainly for this reason. Thank you for the explanation.
@LetsDoThis3213 ай бұрын
@paul0631 I do quite a bit of resawing with this bandsaw, lots of 2x4's and also split 1x6's on edge in to 3 thin planks. An odd thing I found this saw useful for was with an 1/8" blade I've cut a stack of colored construction paper into figurines and designs for kid projects.

Laguna 1412 Bandsaw. At Amazon: amzn.to/3HeoY9H or at Rockler: www.rockler.com/laguna-1412-14-bandsaw . I bought mine at Rockler (Great place). I'm using the Laguna Tools Resaw King Carbide Band Saw Blades - 3/4" from Rockler too.
